Jeremiah 15

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!	1 E il Signore mi disse: « Quando anche Mosè e Samuele si presentassero dinanzi a me, l'anima mia non si piegherebbe verso questo popolo: cacciali dal mio cospetto, se ne vadano.
2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!	2 E se ti diranno : « Dove dobbiamo andare ? » risponderai loro: « Così dice il Signore: Chi è per la morte alla morte, chi è per la spada alla spada, chi è per la fame alla fame, chi è per la schiavitù alla schiavitù.
3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.	3 È li verrò a trovare con quattro flagelli — dice il Signore: — la spada per ucciderli, i cani per sbranarli, gli uccelli del cielo e le bestie della terra per divorarli e disperderli.
4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '	4 E li abbandonerò alla persecuzione di tutti i regni della terra, a causa di Manasse, figlio d'Ezechia, re di Giuda, per tutte quelle cose ch'egli fece in Gerusalemme.
5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?	5 Chi dunque avrà pietà di te, o Gerusalemme? Chi si affliggerà per te? Chi andrà a pregare per la tua pace?
6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,	6 Tu mi hai abbandonato, dice il Signore, ti sei ritirata indietro, ed io stenderò la mia mano sopra di te per farti morire: mi sono stancato a pregare.
7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.	7 E li disperderò col ventilabro per le porte della terra: l'ho fatto morire, l'ho disperso, il mio popolo, eppure non son tornati indietro dalle loro vie.
8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.	8 Per me le sue vedove son più numerose della sabbia del mare, ho mandato sopra la madre del giovane il devastatore sul mezzo del giorno, ho sparso sopra le città improvviso spavento:
9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'	9 vien meno colei che aveva sette figlioli, rende l'anima: per lei tramonta il sole mentre è ancor giorno; è confusa, vergognosa; quelli che le restano li abbandonerò alla spada davanti ai loro nemici — dice il Signore ».
10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.	10 Oh! me infelice! O madre mia, perchè mi generasti, l'uomo del litigio, della discordia per tutta la terra? Non ho prestato, nessuno ha prestato a me, e tutti mi maledicono.
11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!	11 Il Signore dice: « Se non vai a finir bene, se non ti vengo in aiuto nel tempo della tribolazione e non vengo nel tempo dell'angoscia contro il nemico.
12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?	12 Il ferro farà lega col ferro del settentrione? E il bronzo?
13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.	13 Per niente le tue ricchezze, i tuoi tesori li abbandonerò al saccheggio, a causa di tutti i peccati fatti da te in tutto il tuo territorio.
14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'	14 E farò venire i tuoi nemici da una terra che tu non conosci, perchè nell'ira mia s'è acceso il fuoco, e divamperà sopra di voi ».
15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.	15 Tu sai, o Signore; ricordati di me, vieni da me, difendimi dai miei persecutori, non esser lento ad aiutarmi: sappi che per te ho sopportato l'obbrobrio.
16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.	16 Ho trovate le tue parole, le ho divorate, e la tua parola è divenuta la mia gioia, l'allegrezza del mio cuore, perchè il tuo nome è invocato sopra di me, o Signore Dio degli eserciti.
17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.	17 Non mi sono assiso nell'assemblea di chi scherza, e mi son gloriato della tua mano: me ne sto solitario, perchè tu m'hai riempito di minacce.
18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!	18 Perchè il mio dolore si perpetua e la mia piaga disperata non ammette guarigione? M'è diventata come l'inganno di acque infide.
19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.	19 Per questo cosi parla il Signore: « Se ti convertirai io ti convertirò, e starai davanti alla mia faccia, e se separerai il prezioso dal vile, tu sarai come la mia bocca, saranno essi che si volgeranno verso di te, e non tu che dovrai rivolgerti ad essi.
20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.	20 E ti renderò, dinanzi a questo popolo, forte come un muro di bronzo: essi ti faran guerra, ma non prevarranno, perchè io son con te a salvarti, a liberarti; — dice il Signore —
21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'	21 Io ti libererò dalla mano dei malvagi, io ti salverò dal potere dei forti ».
