Jeremiah 11

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 Questa è la parola che fu rivolta a Geremia da parte del Signore. Disse:
2 'Hear the terms of this covenant; tel them to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	2 "Ascoltate la parola di questa alleanza! Dunque parlerai loro, agli uomini di Giuda e agli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
3 Tel them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Cursed be anyone who will not listen to the terms of thiscovenant	3 Dirai loro: Così dice il Signore, Dio d'Israele: Maledetto colui che non ascolta le parole di quest'alleanza,
4 which I ordained for your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of that iron-foundry. Listen tomy voice, I told them, carry out al my orders, then you wil be my people and I shal be your God,	4 che io prescrissi ai vostri padri nel giorno in cui li feci uscire dal paese d'Egitto, dalla fornace di ferro, dicendo: "Ascoltate la mia voce ed eseguite conformemente a quanto vi ho ordinato". Allora voi sarete per me il mio popolo e io sarò per voi il vostro Dio,
5 so that I may fulfil the oath I swore to your ancestors, that I may give them a country flowing with milkand honey, as is the case today." ' I replied, 'So be it, Yahweh!'	5 affinché io realizzi il giuramento che feci ai padri vostri, di dare loro un paese dove scorre latte e miele, come avviene oggi". Ed io risposi e dissi: "Così sia, Signore!".
6 Then Yahweh said to me, 'Proclaim al these terms in the towns of Judah and in the streets ofJerusalem, saying, "Listen to the terms of this covenant and obey them.	6 Poi il Signore mi disse: "Grida tutte queste parole nelle città di Giuda e nelle vie di Gerusalemme: Ascoltate le parole di questa alleanza e praticatele.
7 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, I solemnly warned them, and have persistently warnedthem until today, saying: Listen to my voice.	7 Poiché io ho testimoniato insistentemente ai vostri padri nel giorno in cui li feci ascendere dal paese d'Egitto fino a questo giorno, affermando premurosamente: "Ascoltate la mia voce!",
8 But they did not listen, did not pay attention; instead, each followed his own stubborn and wickedinclinations. And against them, in consequence, I put into action the words of this covenant which I had orderedthem to obey and which they had not obeyed." '	8 ma non l'hanno ascoltata né piegarono il loro orecchio, anzi tutti camminarono nella durezza del loro cuore malvagio, perciò ho compiuto contro di loro tutte le parole di questa alleanza che io ordinai di praticare, ma non praticarono".
9 Yahweh said to me, 'Plainly there is conspiracy among the people of Judah and the citizens ofJerusalem.	9 Mi disse ancora il Signore: "Si sono trovati d'accordo gli uomini di Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
10 They have reverted to the sins of their ancestors who refused to listen to my words: they too arefol owing other gods and serving them. The House of Israel and the House of Judah have broken my covenantwhich I made with their ancestors.	10 Sono ritornati alle iniquità dei loro padri antichi, i quali rifiutarono di ascoltare le mie parole, anzi essi se ne vanno dietro dèi stranieri per adorarli; hanno infranto, la casa di Israele e la casa di Giuda, la mia alleanza che io conclusi con i loro padri.
11 And so, Yahweh says this, "I shal now bring a disaster on them which they cannot escape; they willcal to me for help, but I shal not listen to them.	11 Perciò così dice il Signore: Eccomi, io farò venire contro di loro una sventura alla quale non potranno sfuggire. Grideranno verso di me, ma non darò loro ascolto.
12 The towns of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem wil then go and cal for help to the gods to whomthey burn incense, but these will be no help at al to them in their time of distress!	12 Allora le città di Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme andranno a gridare verso gli dèi stranieri ai quali bruciarono incenso, ma in quanto a salvarli non li salveranno nel tempo della loro sventura.
13 "For you have as many gods as you have towns, Judah! You have built as many altars to Shame, asmany incense altars to Baal, as Jerusalem has streets!	13 Sì, quante sono le tue città tanti sono i tuoi dèi, o Giuda! E quante sono le strade di Gerusalemme, tanti altari avete eretto all'obbrobrio, altari per bruciare a Baal!".
14 "You, for your part, must not intercede for this people, nor raise either plea or prayer on their behalf, for I wil not listen when their distress forces them to cal to me for help."	14 Quanto a te, non intercedere per questo popolo e non innalzare per loro preghiera e supplica, perché io non voglio ascoltarti quando essi grideranno verso di me, nel tempo della loro sventura".
15 'What is my beloved doing in my house? She has achieved her wicked plans. Can vows andconsecrated meat turn disaster from you for you to be so happy?	15 Che viene a fare il mio amore nella mia casa? Il suo agire è astuzia dei capi! I voti e la carne sacra faran passare da te la tua malvagità? Potresti allora rallegrarti!
16 "Green olive-tree covered in fine fruit", was Yahweh's name for you. With a shattering noise he hasset fire to it, its branches are broken.'	16 "Ulivo verdeggiante, bello di frutti formosi" ti aveva imposto il Signore come tuo nome. Al rumore di un grande fracasso ha incendiato con furore le sue foglie e sono rovinati i suoi rami.
17 And Yahweh Sabaoth, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you because of the evil the Houseof Israel and the House of Judah have done, provoking me by burning incense to Baal.	17 Ma ora il Signore degli eserciti, che ti aveva piantato, ha decretato contro di te la sventura, a causa della malvagità che hanno praticato la casa d'Israele e la casa di Giuda, irritandomi, offrendo incenso a Baal.
18 Yahweh informed me and I knew it; you then revealed their scheming to me.	18 Il Signore volle informarmi e perciò ne venni a conoscenza quando mi mostrò le loro azioni;
19 I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes theywere plotting against me, 'Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, sothat his name may no longer be remembered!'	19 io ero come agnello mansueto condotto al mattatoio e non sapevo che contro di me ordivano delle macchinazioni: "Distruggiamo l'albero nel suo vigore e sradichiamolo dalla terra dei viventi affinché il suo nome non venga più ricordato".
20 Yahweh Sabaoth, whose judgement is upright, tester of motives and thoughts, I shal see yourvengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.	20 Signore degli eserciti, giusto giudice, scrutatore dei reni e del cuore, che io gusti la tua vendetta contro di loro perché a te ho affidato la mia causa!
21 Against the people of Anathoth who are determined to kil me and say to me, 'Do not prophesy in thename of Yahweh or you will die at our hands!'	21 Perciò così dice il Signore agli uomini di Anatòt che hanno attentato alla tua vita dicendo: "Non profetizzare nel nome del Signore, così non morrai per mano nostra".
22 Yahweh says this, 'I am about to punish them. Their young people will die by the sword, their sonsand daughters by famine.	22 Così dunque dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Eccomi, io li castigherò: i giovani moriranno di spada, i loro figli e le loro figlie moriranno di fame.
23 Not one wil be left when I bring disaster on the people of Anathoth, when the year for punishing themcomes.'	23 Per loro non vi sarà superstite, quando io farò venire la sventura contro gli uomini di Anatòt, nell'anno del loro castigo".
