Jeremiah 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 Palabra que llegó a Jeremías de parte del Señor, en estos términos:
2 'Hear the terms of this covenant; tel them to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	2 Habla a los hombres de Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén,
3 Tel them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Cursed be anyone who will not listen to the terms of thiscovenant	3 y diles: Así habla el Señor, Dios de Israel: Maldito sea el hombre que no escucha las palabras de esta Alianza,
4 which I ordained for your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of that iron-foundry. Listen tomy voice, I told them, carry out al my orders, then you wil be my people and I shal be your God,	4 que yo prescribí a los padres de ustedes, el día en que los hice salir del país de Egipto, de ese horno para fundir el hierro. Yo les dije: Escuchen mi voz y obren conforme a todo lo que les prescribo; entonces ustedes serán mi Pueblo y yo seré su Dios.
5 so that I may fulfil the oath I swore to your ancestors, that I may give them a country flowing with milkand honey, as is the case today." ' I replied, 'So be it, Yahweh!'	5 Así mantendré el juramento que hice a sus padres, de darles una tierra que mana leche y miel, como sucede en el día de hoy. Yo respondí: «Amén, Señor».
6 Then Yahweh said to me, 'Proclaim al these terms in the towns of Judah and in the streets ofJerusalem, saying, "Listen to the terms of this covenant and obey them.	6 El Señor me dijo: Proclama todas estas palabras en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo: Escuchen las palabras de esta Alianza y pónganlas en práctica.
7 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, I solemnly warned them, and have persistently warnedthem until today, saying: Listen to my voice.	7 Porque yo dirigí una solemne advertencia a sus padres el día en que los hice salir del país de Egipto, y hasta el día de hoy les he advertido incansablemente, diciendo: «¡Escuchen mi voz!».
8 But they did not listen, did not pay attention; instead, each followed his own stubborn and wickedinclinations. And against them, in consequence, I put into action the words of this covenant which I had orderedthem to obey and which they had not obeyed." '	8 Pero ellos no han escuchado ni han inclinado sus oídos, sino que han seguido los impulsos de su corazón obstinado y perverso, Por eso hice venir sobre ellos todas las palabras de esta Alianza, que yo les había ordenado practicar y ellos no han practicado.
9 Yahweh said to me, 'Plainly there is conspiracy among the people of Judah and the citizens ofJerusalem.	9 El Señor me dijo: Se han conjurado los hombres de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén.
10 They have reverted to the sins of their ancestors who refused to listen to my words: they too arefol owing other gods and serving them. The House of Israel and the House of Judah have broken my covenantwhich I made with their ancestors.	10 Han vuelto a las iniquidades de sus primeros padres, que rehusaron escuchar mis palabras: también ellos han ido detrás de otros dioses para servirlos. La casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han roto la Alianza que yo había hecho con sus padres.
11 And so, Yahweh says this, "I shal now bring a disaster on them which they cannot escape; they willcal to me for help, but I shal not listen to them.	11 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Yo haré venir sobre ellos una desgracia de la que no podrán librarse; gritarán hacia mí, pero yo no los escucharé.
12 The towns of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem wil then go and cal for help to the gods to whomthey burn incense, but these will be no help at al to them in their time of distress!	12 Las ciudades de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén irán a gritar a los dioses a los que quemaron incienso, pero ellos no podrán salvarlos en el tiempo de su desgracia.
13 "For you have as many gods as you have towns, Judah! You have built as many altars to Shame, asmany incense altars to Baal, as Jerusalem has streets!	13 Porque tan numerosos como tus ciudades son tus dioses, Judá. Tan numerosos como las calles de Jerusalén son los altares que ustedes han erigido a la Ignominia, los altares para quemar incienso a Baal.
14 "You, for your part, must not intercede for this people, nor raise either plea or prayer on their behalf, for I wil not listen when their distress forces them to cal to me for help."	14 En cuanto a ti, no ruegues por este pueblo, no eleves gritos ni plegarias en favor de ellos, porque yo no escucharé, cuando clamen hacia mí a causa de su desgracia.
15 'What is my beloved doing in my house? She has achieved her wicked plans. Can vows andconsecrated meat turn disaster from you for you to be so happy?	15 ¿Qué viene a hacer mi amada en mi Casa? Su conducta no es más que doblez. ¿Acaso los votos y la carne consagrada alejarán de ti la desgracia? Entonces sí podrías alegrarte.
16 "Green olive-tree covered in fine fruit", was Yahweh's name for you. With a shattering noise he hasset fire to it, its branches are broken.'	16 «Olivo frondoso de hermosa figura» es el nombre que te dio el Señor. Pero en medio de un gran estruendo, él prendió fuego a su follaje y arden sus ramas.
17 And Yahweh Sabaoth, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you because of the evil the Houseof Israel and the House of Judah have done, provoking me by burning incense to Baal.	17 El Señor de los ejércitos, que te había plantado, anuncia una desgracia contra ti, a causa del mal que la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han cometido para agraviarme, quemando incienso en honor de Baal.
18 Yahweh informed me and I knew it; you then revealed their scheming to me.	18 El Señor de los ejércitos me lo ha hecho saber y yo lo sé. Entonces tú me has hecho ver sus acciones.
19 I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes theywere plotting against me, 'Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, sothat his name may no longer be remembered!'	19 Y yo era como un manso cordero, llevado al matadero, sin saber que ellos urdían contra mí sus maquinaciones: «¡Destruyamos el árbol mientras tiene savia, arranquémoslo de la tierra de los vivientes, y que nadie se acuerde más de su nombre!».
20 Yahweh Sabaoth, whose judgement is upright, tester of motives and thoughts, I shal see yourvengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.	20 Señor de los ejércitos, que juzgas con justicia, que sondeas las entrañas y los corazones, ¡que yo vea tu venganza contra ellos, porque a ti he confiado mi causa!
21 Against the people of Anathoth who are determined to kil me and say to me, 'Do not prophesy in thename of Yahweh or you will die at our hands!'	21 Por eso, así habla el Señor contra los hombres de Anatot, que intentan quitarte la vida, diciendo: «¡No profetices en nombre del Señor, si no quieres morir en nuestras manos!».
22 Yahweh says this, 'I am about to punish them. Their young people will die by the sword, their sonsand daughters by famine.	22 Por eso, así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Yo los voy a castigar: sus jóvenes morirán bajo la espada, sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre.
23 Not one wil be left when I bring disaster on the people of Anathoth, when the year for punishing themcomes.'	23 No quedará ningún resto, porque haré venir una desgracia sobre la gente de Anatot, el año en que tengan que dar cuenta.
