Jeremiah 11

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh,	1 - Parola che fu comunicata a Geremia dal Signore che gli disse:
2 'Hear the terms of this covenant; tel them to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	2 «Sentite la parola di questo patto di alleanza e parlatene agli uomini di Giuda e agli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
3 Tel them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Cursed be anyone who will not listen to the terms of thiscovenant	3 Dirai dunque:- Il Signore Dio d'Israele dice così: "Maledetto l'uomo che non darà ascolto alle parole di questo patto
4 which I ordained for your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of that iron-foundry. Listen tomy voice, I told them, carry out al my orders, then you wil be my people and I shal be your God,	4 che ho stipulato coi padri vostri nel giorno che li trassi fuori dal paese di Egitto, dalla fornace di ferro, dicendo loro: Ascoltate la mia voce e fate tutto quello che vi comando, e voi sarete il mio popolo ed io sarò il vostro Dio;
5 so that I may fulfil the oath I swore to your ancestors, that I may give them a country flowing with milkand honey, as is the case today." ' I replied, 'So be it, Yahweh!'	5 affinchè io richiami in vigore la promessa fatta con giuramento ai padri vostri, di dar loro una terra che scorre latte e miele, come oggi ella è"-». E io risposi e dissi: «Così sia, o Signore!».
6 Then Yahweh said to me, 'Proclaim al these terms in the towns of Judah and in the streets ofJerusalem, saying, "Listen to the terms of this covenant and obey them.	6 E il Signore mi disse: «Fa' un bando di tutte queste parole, da gridarsi nelle città di Giuda e per le piazze di Gerusalemme che dica: - Udite le parole di questo patto e adempitele,
7 For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, I solemnly warned them, and have persistently warnedthem until today, saying: Listen to my voice.	7 perchè ho instantemente esortato i padri vostri, dal dì che li trassi dalla terra di Egitto fino ad oggi, di buon'ora prevenendoli colle mie esortazioni e dicendo loro: "Ascoltate la mia voce";
8 But they did not listen, did not pay attention; instead, each followed his own stubborn and wickedinclinations. And against them, in consequence, I put into action the words of this covenant which I had orderedthem to obey and which they had not obeyed." '	8 e non vollero udire, nè prestare orecchio, ma ciascuno si sviò dietro alle aberrazioni del suo malvagio cuore, e ho fatto venire sopra di loro tutte le parole comminate di quel patto che aveva loro ordinato di osservare e non osservarono».
9 Yahweh said to me, 'Plainly there is conspiracy among the people of Judah and the citizens ofJerusalem.	9 E il Signore mi disse: «Si è trovata una cospirazione negli uomini di Giuda e negli abitanti di Gerusalemme:
10 They have reverted to the sins of their ancestors who refused to listen to my words: they too arefol owing other gods and serving them. The House of Israel and the House of Judah have broken my covenantwhich I made with their ancestors.	10 sono ritornati alle iniquità di prima, dei loro padri che non vollero udire le mie parole, anche costoro sono andati dietro agli dèi stranieri per servirli. La casa d'Israele e la casa di Giuda hanno reso nulla l'alleanza che io avevo pattuita coi loro padri».
11 And so, Yahweh says this, "I shal now bring a disaster on them which they cannot escape; they willcal to me for help, but I shal not listen to them.	11 Per la qual cosa dice il Signore: «Ecco che io adunerò sopra di loro mali, donde non potranno cavarsi, e grideranno verso di me ma io non li esaudirò.
12 The towns of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem wil then go and cal for help to the gods to whomthey burn incense, but these will be no help at al to them in their time of distress!	12 E quei delle città di Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme andranno e grideranno verso gli dèi ai quali fanno libagioni, ma questi non li salveranno nel tempo della loro afflizione.
13 "For you have as many gods as you have towns, Judah! You have built as many altars to Shame, asmany incense altars to Baal, as Jerusalem has streets!	13 Perchè, quante sono le tue città, altrettanto sono i tuoi dèi, o Giuda; e numerosi come le tue strade hai eretto altari d'infamia, o Gerusalemme, altari per far libagioni ai Baalim.
14 "You, for your part, must not intercede for this people, nor raise either plea or prayer on their behalf, for I wil not listen when their distress forces them to cal to me for help."	14 Tu, dunque, non voler più pregare per cotesto popolo, e non alzarmi più nè prece, nè orazione, perchè io non esaudirò, quando giungerà il tempo che alzeranno a me le loro grida, nell'ora della loro afflizione.
15 'What is my beloved doing in my house? She has achieved her wicked plans. Can vows andconsecrated meat turn disaster from you for you to be so happy?	15 Che è che il mio diletto, in casa mia, ha commesse tante scelleraggini? Forse che le carni santificate leveranno via da te le tue malvagità delle quali vai facendo tanto sfoggio?
16 "Green olive-tree covered in fine fruit", was Yahweh's name for you. With a shattering noise he hasset fire to it, its branches are broken.'	16 Ulivo fecondo, bello, fruttifero, leggiadro eri stato denominato dal Signore: al suono di una parola, un gran fuoco divampò in quello e i suoi cespi furono tutti abbrustoliti.
17 And Yahweh Sabaoth, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you because of the evil the Houseof Israel and the House of Judah have done, provoking me by burning incense to Baal.	17 E il Signore degli eserciti che ti piantò ha chiamato il male sopra di te, a causa delle malvagità della casa d'Israele e della casa di Giuda che queste si sono date a commettere, irritandomi col fare libagioni ai Baalim».
18 Yahweh informed me and I knew it; you then revealed their scheming to me.	18 E tu, o Signore, mi hai fatto conoscere e ho conosciuto, da tempo mi hai mostrato i loro intendimenti.
19 I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes theywere plotting against me, 'Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, sothat his name may no longer be remembered!'	19 Ed io sono stato come agnello mansueto che è condotto ad essere immolato e non avevo saputo che avessero ordito contro di me delle trame dicendo: «Venite, gettiamo un legno nel suo pane e sterminiamolo dalla terra dei viventi e il suo nome non sia più ricordato».
20 Yahweh Sabaoth, whose judgement is upright, tester of motives and thoughts, I shal see yourvengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.	20 Ma tu, o Signore degli eserciti che giudichi con giustizia e scruti le reni e i cuori, fa' ch'io mi vegga rivendicato di loro, perchè a te ho confidato la mia causa.
21 Against the people of Anathoth who are determined to kil me and say to me, 'Do not prophesy in thename of Yahweh or you will die at our hands!'	21 Per ciò, così dice il Signore agli uomini di Anatot: «Coloro che vanno in cerca della tua vita e che dicono: - Non profetare nel nome del Signore, se no morirai per nostra mano! -»
22 Yahweh says this, 'I am about to punish them. Their young people will die by the sword, their sonsand daughters by famine.	22 per questo dunque, così dice il Signore degli eserciti: «Ecco, li visiterò io; i giovani periranno di spada e i loro figliuoli e le loro figlie morranno di fame.
23 Not one wil be left when I bring disaster on the people of Anathoth, when the year for punishing themcomes.'	23 E di essi non vi saranno superstiti, perchè farò venire sopra gli uomini di Anatot il male, l'anno della loro visita».
