Leviticus 17

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Et locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
2 'Speak to Aaron and his sons and al the Israelites and say: "This is the order that Yahweh has given:	2 “ Loquere Aaron et filiis eius et cunctis filiis Israel et dices ad eos: Iste est sermo, quem mandavit Dominus dicens:
3 "Any man of the House of Israel who slaughters a bull, lamb or goat, whether inside the camp oroutside it,	3 Homo quilibet de domo Israel, si occiderit bovem aut ovem sive capram in castris vel extra castra
4 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to make an offering of it to Yahweh in front ofhis Dwel ing, that man wil be answerable for bloodshed; he has shed blood, and that man wil be outlawed fromhis people.	4 et non attulerit ad ostium tabernaculi conventus in oblationem Domino coram habitaculo Domini, sanguinis reus erit; sanguinem fudit et peribit de medio populi sui.
5 The purpose of this is that the Israelites should instead bring their sacrifices, which they wouldotherwise offer in the countryside, to Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and offer themas communion sacrifices to Yahweh;	5 Ideo offerre debent sacerdoti filii Israel hostias suas, quas occidunt in agro, ut afferant Domino ante ostium tabernaculi conventus et immolent eas hostias pacificas Domino.
6 and the priest wil sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and willburn the fat as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.	6 Fundetque sacerdos sanguinem super altare Domini ad ostium tabernaculi conventus et adolebit adipem in odorem suavitatis Domino;
7 No longer may they offer their sacrifices to the satyrs in whose service they used to prostitutethemselves. This is a perpetual law for them and for their descendants."	7 et nequaquam ultra immolabunt hostias suas daemonibus, cum quibus fornicati sunt: legitimum sempiternum erit hoc illis et posteris eorum ”.
8 'You will also say to them, "Any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien who offers a burntoffering or sacrifice	8 Et ad ipsos dices: “ Homo de domo Israel et de advenis, qui peregrinantur apud vos, qui obtulerit holocaustum sive sacrificium
9 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to offer it to Yahweh, will be outlawed from hispeople.	9 et ad ostium tabernaculi conventus non adduxerit victimam, ut offeratur Domino, interibit de populo suo.
10 "If any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien consumes blood of any kind, I shal set myface against that individual who consumes blood and shal outlaw him from his people.	10 Homo quilibet de domo Israel et de advenis, qui peregrinantur inter eos, si comederit sanguinem, confirmabo faciem meam contra talem animam et disperdam eam de populo suo.
11 For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you for performing the rite of expiationon the altar for your lives, for blood is what expiates for a life.	11 Quia anima carnis in sanguine est, et ego dedi illum vobis, ut super altare in eo expietis pro animabus vestris, quia sanguis ipse per animam expiat.
12 That is why I told the Israelites: None of you wil consume blood, nor wil any resident alien consumeblood.	12 Idcirco dixi filiis Israel: Omnis anima ex vobis non comedet sanguinem, nec ex advenis, qui peregrinantur inter vos.
13 "Anyone, whether Israelite or resident alien, who hunts and catches game, whether animal or bird,which it is lawful to eat, must pour out its blood and cover it with earth.	13 Homo quicumque de filiis Israel et de advenis, qui peregrinantur apud vos, si venatione ceperit feram vel avem, quibus vesci licitum est, fundat sanguinem eius et operiat illum terra.
14 For the life of every creature is its blood, and I have told the Israelites: You wil not consume theblood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood, and anyone who consumes it wil be outlawed.	14 Anima enim omnis carnis, sanguis est anima eius, unde dixi filiis Israel: Sanguinem universae carnis non comedetis, quia anima omnis carnis sanguis eius est; et, quicumque comederit illum, interibit.
15 "Anyone, citizen or alien, who eats an animal that has died a natural death or been savaged, mustwash clothing and body, and wil be unclean until evening, but wil then be clean.	15 Anima, quae comederit morticinum vel captum a bestia, tam de indigenis quam de advenis, lavabit vestes suas et semetipsum aqua, et contaminatus erit usque ad vesperum; et hoc ordine mundus fiet.
16 But anyone who does not wash clothing and body wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '	16 Quod si non laverit vestimenta sua nec corpus, portabit iniquitatem suam ”.
