Leviticus 17

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 'Speak to Aaron and his sons and al the Israelites and say: "This is the order that Yahweh has given:	2 Parle à Aaron, à ses fils et à tous les Israélites. Tu leur diras: Voici l'ordre qu'a donné Yahvé:
3 "Any man of the House of Israel who slaughters a bull, lamb or goat, whether inside the camp oroutside it,	3 Tout homme de la maison d'Israël qui, dans le camp ou hors du camp, immolera taureau, agneauou chèvre,
4 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to make an offering of it to Yahweh in front ofhis Dwel ing, that man wil be answerable for bloodshed; he has shed blood, and that man wil be outlawed fromhis people.	4 sans l'amener à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous pour en faire offrande à Yahvé devant sademeure, cet homme répondra du sang répandu, il sera retranché du milieu de son peuple.
5 The purpose of this is that the Israelites should instead bring their sacrifices, which they wouldotherwise offer in the countryside, to Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and offer themas communion sacrifices to Yahweh;	5 Ainsi les Israélites apporteront au prêtre pour Yahvé, à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous, lessacrifices qu'ils voudraient faire dans la campagne, et ils en feront pour Yahvé des sacrifices de communion.
6 and the priest wil sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and willburn the fat as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.	6 Le prêtre versera le sang sur l'autel de Yahvé qui se trouve à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vouset il fera fumer la graisse en parfum d'apaisement pour Yahvé.
7 No longer may they offer their sacrifices to the satyrs in whose service they used to prostitutethemselves. This is a perpetual law for them and for their descendants."	7 Ils n'offriront plus leurs sacrifices à ces satyres à la suite desquels ils se prostituaient. C'est uneloi perpétuelle que celle-ci, pour eux et leurs descendants.
8 'You will also say to them, "Any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien who offers a burntoffering or sacrifice	8 Tu leur diras encore: Tout homme de la maison d'Israël ou tout étranger résidant parmi vous quioffre un holocauste ou un sacrifice
9 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to offer it to Yahweh, will be outlawed from hispeople.	9 sans l'apporter à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous pour l'offrir à Yahvé, cet homme seraretranché de sa race.
10 "If any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien consumes blood of any kind, I shal set myface against that individual who consumes blood and shal outlaw him from his people.	10 Tout homme de la maison d'Israël ou tout étranger résidant parmi vous qui mangera du sang,n'importe quel sang, je me tournerai contre celui-là qui aura mangé ce sang, et je le retrancherai du milieu de sonpeuple.
11 For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you for performing the rite of expiationon the altar for your lives, for blood is what expiates for a life.	11 Oui, la vie de la chair est dans le sang. Ce sang, je vous l'ai donné, moi, pour faire sur l'autel lerite d'expiation pour vos vies; car c'est le sang qui expie pour une vie.
12 That is why I told the Israelites: None of you wil consume blood, nor wil any resident alien consumeblood.	12 Voilà pourquoi j'ai dit aux enfants d'Israël: "Nul d'entre vous ne mangera de sang et l'étrangerqui réside parmi vous ne mangera pas de sang."
13 "Anyone, whether Israelite or resident alien, who hunts and catches game, whether animal or bird,which it is lawful to eat, must pour out its blood and cover it with earth.	13 Quiconque, enfant d'Israël ou étranger résidant parmi vous, prendra à la chasse un gibier, bêteou oiseau qu'il est permis de manger, en devra répandre le sang et le recouvrir de terre.
14 For the life of every creature is its blood, and I have told the Israelites: You wil not consume theblood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood, and anyone who consumes it wil be outlawed.	14 Car la vie de toute chair, c'est son sang, et j'ai dit aux Israélites: "Vous ne mangerez du sangd'aucune chair car la vie de toute chair, c'est son sang, et quiconque en mangera sera supprimé."
15 "Anyone, citizen or alien, who eats an animal that has died a natural death or been savaged, mustwash clothing and body, and wil be unclean until evening, but wil then be clean.	15 Quiconque, citoyen ou étranger, mangera une bête morte ou déchirée, devra nettoyer sesvêtements et se laver avec de l'eau; il sera impur jusqu'au soir, puis il sera pur.
16 But anyone who does not wash clothing and body wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '	16 Mais s'il ne les nettoie pas et ne se lave pas le corps, il portera le poids de sa faute.
