Isaiah 66

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Thus says Yahweh: With heaven my throne and earth my footstool, what house could you build me,what place for me to rest,	1 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Caelum thronus meus, terra autem scabellum pedum meorum. Quae ista domus, quam aedificabitis mihi, et quis iste locus quietis meae?
2 when al these things were made by me and al belong to me? - declares Yahweh. But my eyes aredrawn to the person of humbled and contrite spirit, who trembles at my word.	2 Omnia haec manus mea fecit, et mea sunt universa ista, dicit Dominus. Ad hunc autem respiciam, ad pauperculum et contritum spiritu et trementem sermones meos.
3 Some slaughter a bul , some kill a human being, some sacrifice a lamb, some strangle a dog, somepresent an offering of pig's blood, some burn memorial incense, a revolting blessing; al these people havechosen their own ways and take delight in their disgusting practices.	3 Qui immolat bovem, interficit virum; qui sacrificat ovem, excerebrat canem; qui offert oblationem, idemque sanguinem suillum; qui adolet incensum, benedicit idolo. Sicut isti elegerunt vias suas, et in abominationibus suis anima eorum delectatur,
4 I too take delight in making fools of them, I shal bring what they most fear down on them because Ihave called and no one would answer, I spoke and no one listened. They have done what I regard as evil, havechosen what displeases me.	4 sic ego eligam malam sortem eorum et, quae timebant, adducam eis; quia vocavi, et non erat qui responderet, locutus sum, et non audierunt feceruntque malum in oculis meis et, quod displicet mihi, elegerunt ”.
5 Listen to the word of Yahweh, you who tremble at his word. Your brothers, who hate and reject youbecause of my name, have said, 'Let Yahweh show his glory, let us witness your joy!' But they will be put toshame.	5 Audite verbum Domini, qui tremitis ad verbum eius. Dixerunt fratres vestri odientes vos et abicientes vos propter nomen meum: “ Gloriam suam manifestet Dominus, ut videamus laetitiam vestram”; ipsi autem confundentur.
6 Listen! An uproar from the city! A voice from the Temple! The voice of Yahweh bringing retribution onhis enemies.	6 Vox clamoris de civitate, vox de templo, vox Domini reddentis retributionem inimicis suis.
7 Before being in labour she has given birth. Before the birth pangs came, she has been delivered of achild.	7 Antequam parturiret, peperit; antequam veniret partus eius, peperit masculum.
8 Who ever heard of such a thing, who ever saw anything like this? Can a country be born in one day?Can a nation be brought forth al at once? For Zion, scarcely in labour, has brought forth her children!	8 Quis audivit umquam tale? Et quis vidit huic simile? Numquid oritur terra in die una, aut parietur gens in momento? Quia parturivit, iam peperit Sion filios suos.
9 Shal I open the womb and not bring to birth? says Yahweh. Shall I, who bring to birth, close the womb?says your God.	9 “ Numquid aperiam uterum et parere non faciam? ”, dicit Dominus. “ Aut ego, qui parere facio, uterum claudam? ”, ait Deus tuus.
10 Rejoice with Jerusalem, be glad for her, al you who love her! Rejoice, rejoice with her, al you whomourned her!	10 Laetamini cum Ierusalem et exsultate in ea, omnes, qui diligitis eam; gaudete cum ea gaudio, universi, qui lugebatis super eam,
11 So that you may be suckled and satisfied from her consoling breast, so that you may drink deep withdelight from her generous nipple.	11 ut sugatis et repleamini ab ubere consolationis eius, ut mulgeatis et deliciis affluatis ex uberibus gloriae eius.
12 For Yahweh says this: Look, I am going to send peace flowing over her like a river, and like a streamin spate the glory of the nations. You wil be suckled, carried on her hip and fondled in her lap.	12 Quia haec dicit Dominus: “ Ecce ego dirigam ad eam quasi fluvium pacem et quasi torrentem inundantem gloriam gentium. Sugetis, in ulnis portabimini, et super genua blandientur vobis.
13 As a mother comforts a child, so I shal comfort you; you wil be comforted in Jerusalem.	13 Quomodo si quem mater consolatur, ita ego consolabor vos; et in Ierusalem consolabimini.
14 At the sight your heart wil rejoice, and your limbs regain vigour like the grass. To his servants Yahwehwil reveal his hand, but to his enemies his fury.	14 Videbitis, et gaudebit cor vestrum, et ossa vestra quasi herba germinabunt, et manifestabitur manus Domini in servis eius, et indignabitur inimicis suis.
15 For see how Yahweh comes in fire, his chariots like the whirlwind, to assuage his anger with burning,his rebukes with flaming fire.	15 Quia ecce Dominus in igne veniet, et quasi turbo quadrigae eius, reddere in indignatione furorem suum et increpationem suam in flamma ignis;
16 For by fire wil Yahweh execute fair judgement, and by his sword, on all people; and Yahweh's victimswil be many.	16 quia in igne Dominus diiudicabit et in gladio suo omnem carnem, et multiplicabuntur interfecti a Domino.
17 As for those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves to enter the gardens, fol owing the one inthe centre, who eat the flesh of pigs, revolting things and rats: their deeds and their thoughts will perish together,declares Yahweh.	17 Qui sanctificantur et purificantur, ut ingrediantur in hortos post aliquem stantem in medio, qui comedunt carnem suillam et abominationem et murem, simul consumentur, dicit Dominus.
18 I am coming to gather every nation and every language. They wil come to witness my glory.	18 Ego autem cognoscens opera eorum et cogitationes eorum veniam, ut congregemomnes gentes et linguas; et venient et videbunt gloriam meam.
19 I shal give them a sign and send some of their survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Put, Lud,Meshech, Tubal and Javan, to the distant coasts and islands that have never heard of me or seen my glory.They wil proclaim my glory to the nations,	19 Et ponam in eissignum et mittam ex eis, qui salvati fuerint, ad gentes in Tharsis, Phut, Lud,Mosoch, Ros, Thubal et Iavan, ad insulas longinquas, ad eos, qui non audieruntde me et non viderunt gloriam meam, et annuntiabunt gloriam meam gentibus;
20 and from al the nations they wil bring al your brothers as an offering to Yahweh, on horses, inchariots, in litters, on mules and on camels, to my holy mountain, Jerusalem, Yahweh says, like Israelitesbringing offerings in clean vessels to Yahweh's house.	20 etadducent omnes fratres vestros de cunctis gentibus oblationem Domino, in equiset in quadrigis et in lecticis et in mulis et in dromedariis, ad montem sanctummeum Ierusalem, dicit Dominus: quomodo si inferant filii Israel oblationem invase mundo in domum Domini.
21 And some of them I shal make into priests and Levites, Yahweh says.	21 Et assumam ex eis in sacerdotes et Levitas, dicitDominus.
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth I am making wil endure before me, declares Yahweh, sowil your race and your name endure.	22 Quia sicut caeli novi et terra nova, quae ego faciam, stabunt coram me, dicit Dominus, sic stabit semen vestrum et nomen vestrum.
23 From New Moon to New Moon, from Sabbath to Sabbath, al humanity wil come and bow in mypresence, Yahweh says.	23 Et erit: unoquoque novilunio et quovis sabbato veniet omnis caro, ut adoret coram facie mea, dicit Dominus.
24 And on their way out they wil see the corpses of those who rebelled against me; for their worm wilnever die nor their fire be put out, and they wil be held in horror by al humanity.	24 Et egredientur et videbunt cadavera virorum, qui praevaricati sunt in me; nam vermis eorum non morietur, et ignis eorum non exstinguetur, et erunt abominationi omni carni ”.
