Isaiah 5

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.	1 Voglio cantare per il mio diletto un cantico d'amore alla sua vigna. Il mio diletto possedeva una vigna su un colle ubertoso.
2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.	2 Egli la vangò, la liberò dai sassi e la piantò di viti eccellenti, in mezzo ad essa costruì una torre e vi scavò anche un tino; attese poi che facesse uva, invece produsse uva aspra.
3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.	3 E ora, abitanti di Gerusalemme e uomini di Giuda, giudicate tra me e la mia vigna!
4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?	4 Che cosa avrei dovuto fare ancora alla mia vigna che io non abbia fatto? Perché, attendendo io che facesse uva, essa produsse uva aspra?
5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.	5 Ma ora vi farò sapere ciò che farò alla mia vigna: rimuoverò la sua siepe e sarà buona a bruciare, distruggerò il muro di cinta e sarà calpestata.
6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.	6 La ridurrò in rovina: non sarà potata né vangata; vi cresceranno rovi e pruni, e comanderò alle nubi di non mandare pioggia su di essa.
7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.	7 Ebbene, la vigna del Signore degli eserciti è la casa d'Israele; gli abitanti di Giuda la sua piantagione prediletta. Ne attese rettitudine, ed ecco invece spargimento di sangue, giustizia, ed ecco invece grida di angoscia.

11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.	11 Guai a quelli che si alzano di buon mattino e corrono dietro a bevande inebrianti, si attardano fino a sera, infiammati dal vino.
12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.	12 Vi sono cetre e arpe, tamburini e flauti, e vino nei loro conviti, ma non prestano attenzione all'azione del Signore e non vedono l'opera delle sue mani.
13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.	13 Perciò il mio popolo sarà deportato a causa della sua ignoranza, i suoi nobili moriranno di fame, la sua moltitudine sarà arsa dalla sete.

16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!	16 Il Signore degli eserciti sarà esaltato nel giudizio, e il Dio santo apparirà santo nella giustizia.
17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.	17 Gli agnelli pasceranno come sui prati e nelle rovine dov'erano le bestie grasse, si nutriranno i nomadi.
18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;	18 Guai a quelli che si attirano la colpa con funi di iniquità e il peccato come con corde da carro!
19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'	19 A quelli che dicono: "Si affretti, acceleri l'opera sua, affinché la possiamo vedere; si avvicini, si realizzi il progetto del Santo d'Israele e lo riconosceremo".
20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.	20 Guai a quelli che chiamano il male bene e il bene male, che cambiano le tenebre in luce e la luce in tenebre, che cambiano l'amaro in dolce e il dolce in amaro.

24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.	24 Perciò, come la lingua di fuoco divora la paglia e come il fieno scompare nella fiamma, la loro radice diventerà una putredine e il loro fiore si alzerà come polvere, perché hanno disdegnato la legge del Signore degli eserciti e hanno disprezzato la parola del Santo d'Israele.
25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!	25 Perciò la collera del Signore divampò contro il suo popolo. Stese la sua mano contro di lui e lo percosse; i monti tremarono e i loro cadaveri giacquero come letame in mezzo alle strade. 26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!	26 Egli drizzerà uno stendardo per un popolo lontano, gli fischierà dai confini della terra. Ecco che quel popolo presto e agilmente arriva.
27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.	27 Nessuno tra essi è stanco, nessuno vacilla, nessuno sonnecchia e nessuno s'addormenta; la cintura dei suoi lombi non si scioglie, né si spezza il legaccio dei suoi sandali.
28 Their arrows are sharpened, their bows al strung, their horses' hoofs you would think were flint andtheir wheels, a whirlwind!	28 Le sue frecce sono aguzze e tutti i suoi archi sono tesi; gli zoccoli dei loro cavalli si direbbero pietre e le ruote dei suoi carri un turbine.
29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,	29 Ha un ruggito come quello di una leonessa, e ruggisce come i leoncelli, freme e dà di piglio alla preda, se la porta via e nessuno gliela strappa.
30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.	30 Fremerà su di lui in quel giorno come freme il mare; si guarderà la terra ed ecco tenebre e angoscia, mentre la luce sarà oscurata da caligine.
