Isaiah 5

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.	1 OR io canterò all’amico mio il cantico del mio amico, intorno alla sua vigna. Il mio amico avea una vigna, in un luogo grasso, come un corno d’olio.
2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.	2 E le fece attorno una chiusura, e ne tolse via le pietre, e la piantò di viti eccellenti, ed edificò una torre in mezzo di essa, ed anche vi fabbricò un torcolo; or egli aspettava ch’ella facesse delle uve, ed ha fatte delle lambrusche.
3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.	3 Or dunque, abitanti di Gerusalemme, ed uomini di Giuda, giudicate fra me e la mia vigna.
4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?	4 Chi si dovea più fare alla mia vigna che io non vi abbia fatto? perchè ho io aspettato che facesse delle uve, ed ha fatte delle lambrusche?
5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.	5 Or dunque, io vi farò assapere ciò che io son per fare alla mia vigna. Io torrò via la sua siepe, e sarà pascolata; io romperò la sua chiusura, e sarà calpestata.
6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.	6 E la ridurrò in deserto; non sarà potata, nè zappata; e le vepri e i pruni vi monteranno; divieterò ancora alle nuvole che non ispandano pioggia sopra essa.
7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.	7 Certo, la vigna del Signore degli eserciti è la casa d’Israele, e gli uomini di Giuda son le piante delle sue delizie; egli ne ha aspettata dirittura, ed ecco lebbra; giustizia, ed ecco grido
8 Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field until there is nowhere left and they are thesole inhabitants of the country.	8 Guai a coloro che congiungono casa a casa, ed accozzano campo a campo, finchè non vi sia più luogo, e che voi soli siate stanziati in mezzo della terra!
9 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn this in my hearing, 'Many houses wil be brought to ruin, great and fine ones left untenanted;	9 Il Signor degli eserciti mi ha detto all’orecchio: Se le case magnifiche non son ridotte in desolazione; e le grandi e belle, ad esser disabitate;
10 for ten acres of vineyard wil yield only one barrel, and ten bushel of seed wil yield only one bushel.'	10 quando dieci bifolche di vigna faranno solo un bato, e la sementa di un homer farà solo un efa.
11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.	11 Guai a coloro che si levano la mattina a buon’ora, per andar dietro alla cervogia, e la sera dimorano lungamente a bere, finchè il vino li riscaldi!
12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.	12 E ne’ cui conviti vi è la cetera e il saltero; il tamburo, e il flauto, col vino; e non riguardano all’opera del Signore, e non veggono i fatti delle sue mani!
13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.	13 Perciò, il mio popolo è menato in cattività, perchè non ha conoscimento; e la sua nobiltà si muor di fame, e il suo popolazzo è arido di sete.
14 That is why Sheol opens wide its throat and gapes with measureless jaw and down go her noblemenand populace and her loud revellers merry to the last!	14 Perciò, il sepolcro si è allargato, ed ha aperta la sua gola smisuratamente; e la nobiltà di Gerusalemme, ed il suo popolazzo, e la sua turba, e coloro che in essa festeggiano, vi scenderanno.
15 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low, and the eyes of the proud have beenhumbled.	15 E la gente vile sarà depressa, e parimente gli uomini onorati saranno abbattuti, e gli occhi degli altieri saranno abbassati.
16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!	16 E il Signor degli eserciti sarà esaltato per giudicio, e l’Iddio santo sarà santificato per giustizia.
17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.	17 E gli agnelli pastureranno presso alle lor mandre; e i pellegrini mangeranno i luoghi deserti delle bestie grasse
18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;	18 Guai a coloro che tirano l’iniquità con funi di vanità, e il peccato come con corde di carro!
19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'	19 I quali dicono: Affrettisi pure, e solleciti l’opera sua, acciocchè, noi la veggiamo; ed accostisi, e venga pure il consiglio del Santo d’Israele, acciocchè noi lo conosciamo.
20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.	20 Guai a coloro che dicono del male bene, e del bene male; i quali fanno delle tenebre luce, e della luce tenebre; i quali fanno dell’amaro il dolce, e del dolce l’amaro!
21 Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves enlightened.	21 Guai a coloro che si reputano savi, e che sono intendenti appo loro stessi.
22 Woe to those whose might lies in wine bibbing, their heroism in mixing strong drinks,	22 Guai a coloro che son valenti a bere il vino, e prodi a mescer la cervogia!
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deny justice to the upright.	23 A coloro che giustificano l’empio per presenti, e tolgono a’ giusti la lor ragione!
24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.	24 Perciò, siccome la fiamma del fuoco divora la stoppia, e la vampa consuma la paglia, così la lor radice sarà come una cosa marcia, e i lor germogli se ne andran via come la polvere; perciocchè hanno sprezzata la Legge del Signor degli eserciti, ed han disdegnata la parola del Santo d’Israele.
25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!	25 Perciò, l’ira del Signore si è accesa contro al suo popolo; ed egli ha stesa la sua mano contro ad esso, e l’ha percosso; e i monti ne hanno tremato; e i lor corpi morti sono stati a guisa di letame in mezzo delle strade. Per tutto ciò l’ira del Signore non si è racquetata; ma la sua mano è ancora stesa.
26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!	26 Ed egli alzerà la bandiera alle nazioni lontane, e fischierà loro dall’estremità della terra; ed ecco, prestamente e leggermente verranno.
27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.	27 Fra esse non vi sarà alcuno stanco, nè fiacco; non saranno sonnacchiosi, nè addormentati; e la cintura de’ lombi loro non sarà sciolta, nè la correggia delle scarpe rotta.
28 Their arrows are sharpened, their bows al strung, their horses' hoofs you would think were flint andtheir wheels, a whirlwind!	28 Le lor saette saranno acute, e tutti i loro archi tesi; l’unghie de’ lor cavalli saranno reputate come selci, e le ruote de’ lor carri come un turbo.
29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,	29 Avranno un ruggito simile a quel del leone, e ruggiranno come leoncelli; fremeranno, e daranno di piglio alla preda, e la rapiranno, senza che alcuno la riscuota.
30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.	30 E in quel giorno fremeranno contro al popolo, come freme il mare; ed egli guarderà verso la terra, ed ecco tenebre, e distretta, che si rinnovellerà col dì; e nel cielo di essa farà scuro
