Isaiah 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.	1 - Canterò al mio diletto la canzone del mio patrono alla sua vigna: «Il mio diletto aveva una vignain un poggio pingue.
2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.	2 La cinse e rimondò dalle pietre e la piantò di scelte viti. Fabbricò in mezzo la torre e costruì il torchio. E aspettò che facesse uve, e fece lambrusche.»
3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.	3 E ora siate giudici voi, abitanti di Gerusalemme e uomini di Giuda, tra me e la mia vigna.
4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?	4 Che cosa avrei dovuto fare ancora alla mia vigna e non gliel'abbia fatta? E come, mi aspettai facesse uve e fece invece lambrusche?
5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.	5 Ma ora vi mostrerò io ciò che farò alla mia vigna: toglierò la sua siepe e sarà pascolata; rovinerò il suo muro e sarà calpestata.
6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.	6 E la renderò deserta; non sarà potata nè dissodata, e cresceranno i pruni e le spine; e alle nuvole ordinerò di non versare pioggia su di essa.
7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.	7 Perchè la vigna del Signore degli eserciti è la casa di Israele, e gli uomini di Giuda, la piantagione sua prediletta; e mi aspettava che facessero opere giuste, ed ecco iniquità; giustizia, ed ecco scalpore.
8 Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field until there is nowhere left and they are thesole inhabitants of the country.	8 Guai a voi che aggiungete casa a casa, campo a campo, fin che sia terminato lo spazio, come se voleste abitare voi soli in mezzo alla terra!
9 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn this in my hearing, 'Many houses wil be brought to ruin, great and fine ones left untenanted;	9 Ho negli orecchi miei questo: «Vedrete», dice il Signore degli eserciti «se le molte case non saran deserte, e se le grandi e belle non saranno disabitate!
10 for ten acres of vineyard wil yield only one barrel, and ten bushel of seed wil yield only one bushel.'	10 Perchè dieci giornate di vigna daranno un solo barile, e trenta moggia di semente ne renderanno solo tre».
11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.	11 Guai a voi che al mattino appena alzati correte ad ubriacarvi, e v'indugiate a sera a tracannare, finchè siate cotti di vino.
12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.	12 La cetra e l'arpa e il timpano e il flauto e il vino occupano i vostri conviti; e all'azione del Signore non riguardate, e l'opera delle sue mani non considerate.
13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.	13 Perciò il mio popolo è condotto in ischiavitù, per la sua sconsideratezza; e i suoi nobili sono morti di fame, e la moltitudine sua arse di sete.
14 That is why Sheol opens wide its throat and gapes with measureless jaw and down go her noblemenand populace and her loud revellers merry to the last!	14 Perciò l'Oltretomba s'è dilatato per far via alle sue brame e ha spalancato le sue fauci oltre misura; e i suoi grandi, e la sua plebe, e quei che di fasto e di gloria vanno alteri, vi discenderanno.
15 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low, and the eyes of the proud have beenhumbled.	15 E gli uomini saranno abbassati, e le persone umiliate, e le ciglia erette saranno d'ogni alterigia smunte.
16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!	16 E il Signore degli eserciti sarà esaltato nel giudizio che farà, e il Dio Santo si mostrerà santo nel far giustizia.
17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.	17 E gli agnelli pascoleranno a loro agio, e i luoghi devastati, ricondotti a fecondità, ciberanno gli stranieri.
18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;	18 Guai a voi che trascinate la colpa con funi di vanità, e con corde da carro il peccato!
19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'	19 Che dite: «Si affretti, solleciti l'opera sua, affinchè vediamo; si avanzi e venga il consiglio del Santo di Israele, che lo sappiamo!».
20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.	20 Guai a voi che dite male il bene e bene il male, che fate tenebre la luce e luce le tenebre; che date amaro per dolce e dolce per amaro!
21 Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves enlightened.	21 Guai a voi, che siete sapienti ai vostri occhi e prudenti a vostro giudizio!
22 Woe to those whose might lies in wine bibbing, their heroism in mixing strong drinks,	22 Guai a voi eroi da vino, prodi a mescere e ad ubriacarvi;
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deny justice to the upright.	23 che giustificate l'empio per un regalo, e negate al giusto la giustizia!
24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.	24 Perciò, come quando lingua di fuoco s'apprende alla paglia, che in una vampata di fiamme si incenerisce, così la loro radice sarà ridotta in faville e il loro germe come polvere andrà per aria. Perchè spregiarono la legge del Signore degli eserciti, e bestemmiarono la parola del Santo d'Israele.
25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!	25 Perciò il Signore si accese d'ira contro il suo popolo e stese su di lui la sua mano e lo percosse: i monti si sono commossi; in mezzo alle piazze i loro cadaveri hanno fatto tutti un carname. Nè per tutto questo la sua ira si è ritirata, ma la sua mano è ancora stesa.
26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!	26 Ed alzerà un segnale alle nazioni da lontano; col suo sibilo chiamerà uno dal confine della terra: ed ecco, presto, veloce, verrà.
27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.	27 Non v'è debole, nè fiacco con lui, non dormirà e non sonnecchierà; la cintura non gli si scioglierà sui fianchi, nè legaccia di scarpe gli si romperà.
28 Their arrows are sharpened, their bows al strung, their horses' hoofs you would think were flint andtheir wheels, a whirlwind!	28 Ha le sue frecce aguzzate a tutti i suoi archi tesi. Le unghie dei suoi cavalli rassomigliano alle selci, e le sue ruote, all'imperversar della tempesta:
29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,	29 ha un ruggito da leone: ruggirà come un branco di leoncelli, e fremerà, e afferrerà la preda e se la stringerà, senza alcuno che la riprenda.
30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.	30 Si alzerà sopra di esso in quel giorno un muggito come il muggito del mare; e guarderemo alla terra, ed ecco tenebre di tribolazione, e la luce sarà offuscata dalla sua caligine.
