Isaiah 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.	1 Voy a cantar en nombre de mi amigo el canto de mi amado a su viña. Mi amigo tenía una viña en una loma fértil.
2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.	2 La cavó, la limpió de piedras y la plantó con cepas escogidas; edificó una torre en medio de ella y también excavó un lagar. El esperaba que diera uvas, pero dio frutos agrios.
3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.	3 Y ahora, habitantes de Jerusalén y hombres de Judá, sean ustedes los jueces entre mi viña y yo.
4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?	4 ¿Qué más se podía hacer por mi viña que yo no lo haya hecho? Si esperaba que diera uvas, ¿por qué dio frutos agrios?
5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.	5 Y ahora les haré conocer lo que haré con mi viña; Quitaré su valla, y será destruida, derribaré su cerco y será pisoteada.
6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.	6 La convertiré en una ruina, y no será podada ni escardada. Crecerán los abrojos y los cardos, y mandaré a las nubes que no derramen, lluvia sobre ella.
7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.	7 Porque la viña del Señor de los ejércitos es la casa de Israel, y los hombres de Judá son su plantación predilecta. ¡El esperó de ellos equidad. y hay efusión de sangre; esperó justicia, y hay gritos de angustia!

9 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn this in my hearing, 'Many houses wil be brought to ruin, great and fine ones left untenanted;	9 El Señor de los ejércitos lo ha jurado a mi oído: Sí, muchas mansiones, grandes y hermosas, quedarán desoladas, por falta de habitantes.
10 for ten acres of vineyard wil yield only one barrel, and ten bushel of seed wil yield only one bushel.'	10 Porque diez yugadas de viña no darán más que un tonel, y diez medidas de semillas producirán una sola.
11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.	11 ¡Ay de los que madrugan para correr tras la bebida, y hasta muy entrada la noche se acaloran con el vino!
12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.	12 Hay cítara y arpa, tamboriles y flautas y vino en sus banquetes; pero ellos no miran la acción del Señor ni ven la obra de sus manos.
13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.	13 Por eso mi pueblo será deportado por falta de conocimiento; sus nobles morirán de hambre y su muchedumbre se abrasará de sed.
14 That is why Sheol opens wide its throat and gapes with measureless jaw and down go her noblemenand populace and her loud revellers merry to the last!	14 Por eso el Abismo dilata su garganta, abre sus fauces desmesuradamente, y allí se precipitan el esplendor de la ciudad y su muchedumbre, su tumulto y sus festejos.
15 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low, and the eyes of the proud have beenhumbled.	15 El hombre será doblegado, el mortal, humillado, y serán humillados los ojos altaneros;
16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!	16 pero el Señor de los ejércitos será exaltado por su rectitud, y el Dios santo se mostrará santo por su justicia.
17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.	17 Los corderos pacerán como en sus praderas y en las ruinas engordarán los cabritos.
18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;	18 ¡Ay de los que arrastran la culpa con las cuerdas de la falsedad, y tiran del pecado como con las riendas de un carro!
19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'	19 Los que dicen: «¡Que se apure. que haga pronto su obra, para que la veamos que se acerque y llegue el designio del Santo de Israel, para que podamos conocerlo!».
20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.	20 ¡Ay de los que llaman bien al mal y mal al bien. de los que cambian las tinieblas en luz y la luz en tinieblas. de los que vuelven dulce lo amargo y amargo lo dulce!
21 Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves enlightened.	21 ¡Ay de los que se tienen por sabios y se creen muy inteligentes!
22 Woe to those whose might lies in wine bibbing, their heroism in mixing strong drinks,	22 ¡Ay de los valientes para beber vino y de los campeones para mezclar bebidas,
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deny justice to the upright.	23 de los que absuelven por soborno al culpable y privan al justo de su derecho!
24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.	24 Por eso, como la lengua de fuego devora la paja y la hierba seca se consume en la llama, así su raíz será como podredumbre y su brote se disipará como el polvo, porque rechazaron la ley del Señor de los ejércitos y despreciaron la palabra del Santo de Israel.
25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!	25 Por eso la ira del Señor se enciende contra su pueblo: el Señor extiende su mano contra él y lo golpea. se estremecen las montañas y sus cadáveres son como basura en medio de las calles. 26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!	26 El alza una insignia para una nación lejana, la llama con un silbido desde el extremo de la tierra. y ella acude veloz, rápidamente.
27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.	27 Nadie siente cansancio ni tropieza, nadie dormita ni duerme, a nadie se le desata el cinturón ni se le rompe la correa del calzado.

29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,	29 Su rugido es el de una leona, ruge como los cachorros de león: brama y se apodera de la presa, la arrebata y nadie puede librarla.
30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.	30 Aquel día, lanzará un bramido contra ella como el bramido del mar, Mirarán a la tierra, y sólo habrá tinieblas y angustia, la luz será oscurecida por sombríos nubarrones.
