Isaiah 49

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Coasts and islands, listen to me, pay attention, distant peoples. Yahweh cal ed me when I was in thewomb, before my birth he had pronounced my name.	1 Udite, o isole, state attenti, o popoli lontani, il Signore mi ha chiamato dal seno materno, dal seno di mia madre si ricordò del mio nome.
2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, he hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into asharpened arrow and concealed me in his quiver.	2 Egli fece la mia bocca come spada tagliente, mi custodì sotto l'ombra della sua mano, ha fatto di me una freccia scelta, mi ha nascosto nella sua faretra.
3 He said to me, 'Israel, you are my servant, through whom I shal manifest my glory.'	3 E mi ha detto: — Tu sei il mio servo, o Israele; in te sarò glorificato.
4 But I said, 'My toil has been futile, I have exhausted myself for nothing, to no purpose.' Yet al the whilemy cause was with Yahweh and my reward with my God.	4 E io dissi: — Invano mi sono affaticato, senza ragione, senza ottener nulla, ho consumate le mie forze; ma la mia causa è presso il Signore, la mia opera è presso Dio.
5 And now Yahweh has spoken, who formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back tohim and to re-unite Israel to him;-I shal be honoured in Yahweh's eyes, and my God has been my strength.-	5 Ed ora parla il Signore, Colui che fin dal seno della madre mi fece suo servo, per ricondurre a lui Giacobbe. Israele sarà radunato. Io sono stato glorificato davanti agli occhi del Signore, e il mio Dio è divenuto la mia forza.
6 He said, 'It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back thesurvivors of Israel; I shal make you a light to the nations so that my salvation may reach the remotest parts ofearth.'	6 Egli disse: — Non basta che tu sia il mio servo, per far rivivere le tribù di Giacobbe, per convertire ciò che rimane d'Israele, ecco io ti ho donato a luce delle nazioni, affinchè tu sia la mia salvezza fino agli ultimi confini del mondo.
7 Thus says Yahweh, the redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, to the one who is despised, detested by thenation, to the slave of despots: Kings wil stand up when they see, princes wil see and bow low, because ofYahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.	7 Queste cose dice il Signore, il Redentore, il Santo d'Israele, all'anima avvilita, alla nazione abbominata, allo schiavo dei tiranni: — I re e i principi s'alzeranno appena ti vedono — ti adoreranno a causa del Signore che è fedele, e del Santo d'Israele che t'ha eletto.
8 Thus says Yahweh: At the time of my favour I have answered you, on the day of salvation I havehelped you. I have formed you and have appointed you to be the covenant for a people, to restore the land, toreturn ravaged properties,	8 Così parla il Signore: « Nel tempo della grazia t'ho esaudito, nel giorno della salvezza ti ho dato soccorso, ti ho custodito, e stabilito alleanza del popolo, per ristorare la terra, per entrare in possesso delle eredità dissipate;
9 to say to prisoners, 'Come out,' to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' Along the roadwaythey will graze, and any bare height wil be their pasture.	9 per dire a quelli che sono in catene: « Andate liberi », e a quelli che sono nelle tenebre: « Venite alla luce ». Pascoleranno lungo la via e avranno pascoli in tutte le pianure.
10 They will never hunger or thirst, scorching wind and sun will never plague them; for he who pitiesthem wil lead them, wil guide them to springs of water.	10 Non patiranno la fame, nè la sete, non li offenderà il caldo, nè il sole, perchè chi ne ha pietà li guiderà e li farà dissetare alle fontane di acqua.
11 I shal turn all my mountains into a road and my highways wil be raised aloft.	11 E ridurrò a strada tutte le mie montagne, e le mie vie saranno elevate.
12 Look! Here they come from far away, look, these from the north and the west, those from the land ofSinim.	12 Ecco venir questi da lontano, ecco venirne altri dal settentrione e dal mare, ed altri dalla parte del mezzogiorno.
13 Shout for joy, you heavens; earth, exult! Mountains, break into joyful cries! For Yahweh has consoledhis people, is taking pity on his afflicted ones.	13 Cantate, o cieli, esulta, o terra, monti, erompete in gridi di gioia, perchè il Signore ha consolato il suo popolo, e avrà pietà dei suoi poveri.
14 Zion was saying, 'Yahweh has abandoned me, the Lord has forgotten me.'	14 Sion aveva detto: « Il Signore mi ha abbandonato, il Signore si è dimenticato di me ».
15 Can a woman forget her baby at the breast, feel no pity for the child she has borne? Even if thesewere to forget, I shal not forget you.	15 Può forse una donna dimenticare il suo bambino, da non aver compassione del frutto del suo seno? Quand'anche essa potesse dimenticarsene, io non potrò mai di menticarti.
16 Look, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands, your ramparts are ever before me.	16 Ecco ti ho disegnata nelle mie mani, i tuoi muri mi stan sempre davanti agli occhi.
17 Your rebuilders are hurrying, your destroyers and despoilers wil soon go away.	17 Vengono i tuoi fabbricatori, quelli che ti han distrutta e smantellata se ne andranno via da te.
18 Raise your eyes and look around you: all are assembling, coming to you. By my life, declaresYahweh, you will put them al on like jewels, like a bride, you wil fasten them on.	18 Gira attorno i tuoi occhi e guarda: tutti questi si son radunati e vengono a te. Io vivo — dice il Signore: — di tutti questi tu sarai rivestita come d'ornamento, di essi ti cingerai come sposa.
19 For your desolate places and your ruins and your devastated country from now on wil be too crampedfor your inhabitants, and your devourers wil be far away.	19 Perchè i tuoi deserti, le tue solitudini e la tua terra devastata, ora saranno stretti per gli abitanti, e saran cacciati lontano quelli che ti divoravano.
20 Once more they will say in your hearing, the children of whom you were bereft, 'The place is toocramped for me, make room for me to live.'	20 Allora ti diranno all'orecchio i figli della tua sterilità: « Il luogo per me è troppo stretto, fammi dello spazio per abitarvi ».
21 Then you wil think to yourself, 'Who has borne me these? I was bereft and barren, exiled, turned outof my home; who has reared these? I was left all alone, so where have these come from?'	21 E tu dirai in cuor tuo: « Questi chi me li ha generati? Io ero sterile, incapace di partorire, deportata e schiava, e questi chi li ha allevati? Io ero decaduta e sola, e questi dov'erano? »
22 Thus says Lord Yahweh: Look, I am beckoning to the nations and hoisting a signal to the peoples:they will bring your sons in their arms and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.	22 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: « Ecco io alzerò la mia mano verso le nazioni, innalzerò ai popoli il mio stendardo; ed essi porteranno sulle loro braccia i tuoi figli, e sulle loro spalle le tue figlie.
23 Kings will be your foster-fathers and their princesses, your foster-mothers. They will fal prostratebefore you, faces to the ground, and lick the dust at your feet. And you wil know that I am Yahweh; those whohope in me wil not be disappointed.	23 I re ti manterranno e le regine saran le tue nutrici, ti adoreranno colla faccia per terra, e lambiranno la polvere dei tuoi piedi. E riconoscerai ch'io sono il Signore, nel quale chi spera non sarà confuso.
24 Can the body be snatched from the warrior, can the tyrant's captive be set free?	24 Forse si potrà togliere al forte, la preda, o si potrà salvare ciò che è portato via dal robusto?
25 But thus says Yahweh: The warrior's captive wil indeed be snatched away and the tyrant's booty willindeed be set free; I myself shall fight those who fight you and I myself shal save your children.	25 Or ecco quanto dice il Signore: « Eppure saran tolti i prigionieri al forte, e sarà salvato ciò che fu portato via dal robusto. Quelli che giudicaron te li giudicherò io, io salverò i tuoi figli,
26 I shal make your oppressors eat their own flesh, they wil be as drunk on their own blood as on newwine. And al humanity wil know that I am Yahweh, your Saviour, your redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.	26 e farò mangiare ai tuoi nemici le loro stesse carni, saranno inebriati dal loro sangue come dal mosto, ed ogni mortale saprà che io sono il Signore tuo Salvatore, il tuo Redentore, il Forte di Giacobbe.
