Isaiah 49

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Coasts and islands, listen to me, pay attention, distant peoples. Yahweh cal ed me when I was in thewomb, before my birth he had pronounced my name.	1 ¡Escúchenme, costas lejanas, presten atención, pueblos remotos! El Señor me llamó desde el seno materno, desde el vientre de mi madre pronunció mi nombre.
2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, he hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into asharpened arrow and concealed me in his quiver.	2 El hizo de mi boca una espada afilada, me ocultó a la sombra de su mano; hizo de mí una flecha punzante, me escondió en su aljaba.
3 He said to me, 'Israel, you are my servant, through whom I shal manifest my glory.'	3 El me dijo: «Tú eres mi Servidor, Israel, por ti yo me glorificaré».
4 But I said, 'My toil has been futile, I have exhausted myself for nothing, to no purpose.' Yet al the whilemy cause was with Yahweh and my reward with my God.	4 Pero yo dije: «En vano me fatigué, para nada, inútilmente, he gastado mi fuerza». Sin embargo, mi derecho está junto al Señor y mi retribución, junto a mi Dios.
5 And now Yahweh has spoken, who formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back tohim and to re-unite Israel to him;-I shal be honoured in Yahweh's eyes, and my God has been my strength.-	5 Y ahora, ha hablado el Señor, el que me formó desde el seno materno para que yo sea su Servidor, para hacer que Jacob vuelva a él y se le reúna Israel. Yo soy valioso a los ojos del Señor y mi Dios ha sido mi fortaleza.
6 He said, 'It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back thesurvivors of Israel; I shal make you a light to the nations so that my salvation may reach the remotest parts ofearth.'	6 El dice: «Es demasiado poco que seas mi Servidor para restaurar a las tribus de Jacob y hacer volver a los sobrevivientes de Israel; yo te destino a ser la luz de las naciones, para que llegue mi salvación hasta los confines de la tierra».
7 Thus says Yahweh, the redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, to the one who is despised, detested by thenation, to the slave of despots: Kings wil stand up when they see, princes wil see and bow low, because ofYahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.	7 Así habla el Señor, el redentor y el Santo de Israel, al que es despreciado, al abominado de la gente, al esclavo de los déspotas: Al verte, los reyes se pondrán de pie, los príncipes se postrarán, a causa del Señor, que es fiel, y del Santo de Israel, que te eligió.
8 Thus says Yahweh: At the time of my favour I have answered you, on the day of salvation I havehelped you. I have formed you and have appointed you to be the covenant for a people, to restore the land, toreturn ravaged properties,	8 Así habla el Señor: En el tiempo favorable, yo te respondí, en el día de la salvación, te socorrí. Yo te formé y te destiné a ser la alianza del pueblo, para restaurar el país, para repartir las herencias devastadas,
9 to say to prisoners, 'Come out,' to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' Along the roadwaythey will graze, and any bare height wil be their pasture.	9 para decir a los cautivos: «¡Salgan!», y a los que están en las tinieblas: «¡Manifiéstense!». Ellos se apacentarán a lo largo de los caminos, tendrán sus pastizales hasta en las cumbres desiertas.
10 They will never hunger or thirst, scorching wind and sun will never plague them; for he who pitiesthem wil lead them, wil guide them to springs of water.	10 No tendrán hambre, ni sufrirán sed, el viento ardiente y el sol no los dañarán, porque el que se compadece de ellos los guiará y los llevará hasta las vertientes de agua.
11 I shal turn all my mountains into a road and my highways wil be raised aloft.	11 De todas mis montañas yo haré un camino y mis senderos serán nivelados.
12 Look! Here they come from far away, look, these from the north and the west, those from the land ofSinim.	12 Sí, ahí vienen de lejos, unos del norte y del oeste, y otros, del país de Siním,
13 Shout for joy, you heavens; earth, exult! Mountains, break into joyful cries! For Yahweh has consoledhis people, is taking pity on his afflicted ones.	13 ¡Griten de alegría, cielos, regocíjate, tierra! ¡Montañas, prorrumpan en gritos de alegría, porque el Señor consuela a su pueblo y se compadece de sus pobres!
14 Zion was saying, 'Yahweh has abandoned me, the Lord has forgotten me.'	14 Sión decía: «El Señor me abandonó, mi Señor se ha olvidado de mí».
15 Can a woman forget her baby at the breast, feel no pity for the child she has borne? Even if thesewere to forget, I shal not forget you.	15 ¿Se olvida una madre de su criatura, no se compadece del hijo de sus entrañas? ¡Pero aunque ella se olvide, yo no te olvidaré!
16 Look, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands, your ramparts are ever before me.	16 Yo te llevo grabada en las palmas de mis manos, tus muros están siempre ante mí.
17 Your rebuilders are hurrying, your destroyers and despoilers wil soon go away.	17 Tus constructores acuden presurosos, los que te demolieron y arrasaron se alejan de ti.
18 Raise your eyes and look around you: all are assembling, coming to you. By my life, declaresYahweh, you will put them al on like jewels, like a bride, you wil fasten them on.	18 Levanta los ojos y mira a tu alrededor: todos se reúnen y llegan hasta ti. ¡Juro por mi vida –oráculo del Señor– que a todos ellos te los pondrás como un adorno y los lucirás como una novia!
19 For your desolate places and your ruins and your devastated country from now on wil be too crampedfor your inhabitants, and your devourers wil be far away.	19 Porque tus ruinas, tus escombros y tu país destruido resultarán estrechos para tus habitantes, y estarán lejos los que te devoraban,
20 Once more they will say in your hearing, the children of whom you were bereft, 'The place is toocramped for me, make room for me to live.'	20 Los hijos que dabas por perdidos dirán otra vez a tus oídos: «El lugar es muy estrecho para mí, dame sitio para que pueda habitar».
21 Then you wil think to yourself, 'Who has borne me these? I was bereft and barren, exiled, turned outof my home; who has reared these? I was left all alone, so where have these come from?'	21 Y tú dirás en tu corazón: «¿Quién me engendró estos hijos? Yo estaba sin hijos, estéril, desterrada y dejada de lado; y a estos ¿quién los crió? Yo me había quedado sola, y estos ¿dónde estaban?
22 Thus says Lord Yahweh: Look, I am beckoning to the nations and hoisting a signal to the peoples:they will bring your sons in their arms and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.	22 Así habla el Señor: Yo alzaré mi mano hacia las naciones e izaré mi estandarte hacia los pueblos; ellos traerán a tus hijos en su regazo y tus hijas serán llevadas a hombros.
23 Kings will be your foster-fathers and their princesses, your foster-mothers. They will fal prostratebefore you, faces to the ground, and lick the dust at your feet. And you wil know that I am Yahweh; those whohope in me wil not be disappointed.	23 Tendrás a reyes como tutores y sus princesas serán tus nodrizas. Se postrarán ante ti con el rostro en tierra y lamerán el polvo de tus pies. Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor y que no se avergonzarán los que esperan en mí.
24 Can the body be snatched from the warrior, can the tyrant's captive be set free?	24 ¿Se le puede quitar el botín a un guerrero? ¿Se le escapa el cautivo al vencedor?
25 But thus says Yahweh: The warrior's captive wil indeed be snatched away and the tyrant's booty willindeed be set free; I myself shall fight those who fight you and I myself shal save your children.	25 Ahora bien, así habla el Señor: Sí, al guerrero se le quitará el cautivo y al violento se le escapará el botín; yo mismo litigaré con tus litigantes y yo mismo salvaré a tus hijos.
26 I shal make your oppressors eat their own flesh, they wil be as drunk on their own blood as on newwine. And al humanity wil know that I am Yahweh, your Saviour, your redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.	26 A tus opresores les haré comer su propia carne, como con vino nuevo, se embriagarán con su sangre. Así sabrán todos los hombres que yo, el Señor, soy tu salvador y que tu redentor es el Fuerte de Jacob.
