Isaiah 49

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Coasts and islands, listen to me, pay attention, distant peoples. Yahweh cal ed me when I was in thewomb, before my birth he had pronounced my name.	1 ASCOLTATEMI, isole; e state attenti, o popoli lontani. Il Signore mi ha chiamato infin dal ventre, egli ha mentovato il mio nome infin dalle interiora di mia madre.
2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, he hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into asharpened arrow and concealed me in his quiver.	2 Ed ha renduta la mia bocca simile ad una spada acuta; egli mi ha nascosto all’ombra della sua mano, e mi ha fatto essere a guisa di saetta forbita; egli mi ha riposto nel suo turcasso;
3 He said to me, 'Israel, you are my servant, through whom I shal manifest my glory.'	3 e mi ha detto: Tu sei il mio Servitore; Israele è quello, nel quale io mi glorificherò in te.
4 But I said, 'My toil has been futile, I have exhausted myself for nothing, to no purpose.' Yet al the whilemy cause was with Yahweh and my reward with my God.	4 Ed io ho detto: Io mi sono affaticato a vuoto; invano, ed indarno ho consumata la mia forza; ma pur certo la mia ragione è appo il Signore, e l’opera mia appo l’Iddio mio.
5 And now Yahweh has spoken, who formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back tohim and to re-unite Israel to him;-I shal be honoured in Yahweh's eyes, and my God has been my strength.-	5 Ora dunque, avendomi detto il Signore, che mi ha formato infin dal ventre, acciocchè gli sia servitore, che io gli riconduca Giacobbe; benchè Israele non si raccolga, pur sarò glorificato appo il Signore, e l’Iddio mio sarà la mia forza.
6 He said, 'It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back thesurvivors of Israel; I shal make you a light to the nations so that my salvation may reach the remotest parts ofearth.'	6 Ed egli mi ha detto: Egli è leggier cosa che tu mi sii servitore, per ridirizzare le tribù di Giacobbe, e per ricondurre i riserbati d’Israele; perciò, io ti ho dato per luce delle genti; per esser la mia salute infino alle estremità della terra
7 Thus says Yahweh, the redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, to the one who is despised, detested by thenation, to the slave of despots: Kings wil stand up when they see, princes wil see and bow low, because ofYahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.	7 Così ha detto il Signore, il Rendentore d’Israele, il suo Santo, a colui ch’è sprezzato della persona, ed abbominevole alla nazione, al servo di quelli che signoreggiano: I re ti vedranno, e si leveranno; i principi ancora, e s’inchineranno; per cagion del Signore, ch’è fedele, del Santo d’Israele, che ti ha eletto.
8 Thus says Yahweh: At the time of my favour I have answered you, on the day of salvation I havehelped you. I have formed you and have appointed you to be the covenant for a people, to restore the land, toreturn ravaged properties,	8 Così ha detto il Signore: Io ti ho esaudito nel tempo della benevolenza, e ti ho aiutato nel giorno della salute; anche ti guarderò, e ti darò per patto del popolo, per ristabilir la terra, per far possedere le eredità desolate;
9 to say to prisoners, 'Come out,' to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' Along the roadwaythey will graze, and any bare height wil be their pasture.	9 per dire a’ prigioni: Uscite, ed a quelli che sono nelle tenebre: Mostratevi. Essi pastureranno in su le vie, ed il lor pasco sarà sopra ogni luogo elevato.
10 They will never hunger or thirst, scorching wind and sun will never plague them; for he who pitiesthem wil lead them, wil guide them to springs of water.	10 Non avranno fame, nè sete; e l’arsura ed il sole non li percoterà; perciocchè colui che ha misericordia di loro li condurrà, e li menerà alle fonti delle acque.
11 I shal turn all my mountains into a road and my highways wil be raised aloft.	11 Ed io ridurrò tutti i miei monti in cammini, e le mie strade saranno rilevate.
12 Look! Here they come from far away, look, these from the north and the west, those from the land ofSinim.	12 Ecco, gli uni verranno da lontano; ed ecco, gli altri verranno dal Settentrione, e dall’Occidente; e gli altri dal paese de’ Sinei
13 Shout for joy, you heavens; earth, exult! Mountains, break into joyful cries! For Yahweh has consoledhis people, is taking pity on his afflicted ones.	13 Giubilate, o cieli; e tu, terra, festeggia; e voi, monti, risonate grida di allegrezza; perciocchè il Signore ha consolato il suo popolo, ed ha avuta pietà de’ suoi poveri afflitti.
14 Zion was saying, 'Yahweh has abandoned me, the Lord has forgotten me.'	14 Or Sion ha detto: Il Signore mi ha abbandonata, ed il Signore mi ha dimenticata.
15 Can a woman forget her baby at the breast, feel no pity for the child she has borne? Even if thesewere to forget, I shal not forget you.	15 Dimenticherà la donna il suo figliuolino che poppa, per non aver pietà del figliuol del suo seno? ma, avvegnachè le madri dimenticassero i lor figliuoli, non però ti dimenticherò io.
16 Look, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands, your ramparts are ever before me.	16 Ecco, io ti ho scolpita sopra le palme delle mani; le tue mura son del continuo nel mio cospetto.
17 Your rebuilders are hurrying, your destroyers and despoilers wil soon go away.	17 I tuoi figliuoli verranno in fretta; e quelli che ti distruggevano, e disertavano, usciranno fuor di te
18 Raise your eyes and look around you: all are assembling, coming to you. By my life, declaresYahweh, you will put them al on like jewels, like a bride, you wil fasten them on.	18 Alza d’ogn’intorno i tuoi occhi, e vedi; tutti costoro si son radunati, e son venuti a te. Come io vivo, dice il Signore, tu ti rivestirai di costoro come di un ornamento, e te ne fregerai a guisa di sposa.
19 For your desolate places and your ruins and your devastated country from now on wil be too crampedfor your inhabitants, and your devourers wil be far away.	19 Perciocchè le tue ruine, ed i tuoi luoghi deserti, ed il tuo paese distrutto, anzi tu stessa, sarai allora troppo stretta per gli abitatori; e quelli che ti divoravano si allontaneranno.
20 Once more they will say in your hearing, the children of whom you were bereft, 'The place is toocramped for me, make room for me to live.'	20 Ancora ti diranno i figliuoli che tu avrai, dopo che sarai stata orbata degli altri: Questo luogo è troppo stretto per me; fattimi in là, che io possa abitare.
21 Then you wil think to yourself, 'Who has borne me these? I was bereft and barren, exiled, turned outof my home; who has reared these? I was left all alone, so where have these come from?'	21 E tu dirai nel cuor tuo: Chi mi ha generati costoro? conciossiachè io fossi rimasta orbata di figliuoli, e sola, in cattività, ed in esilio; e chi mi ha allevati costoro? ecco, io era rimasta tutta sola, e costoro dove erano?
22 Thus says Lord Yahweh: Look, I am beckoning to the nations and hoisting a signal to the peoples:they will bring your sons in their arms and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.	22 Così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, io leverò la mia mano alle genti ed alzerò la mia bandiera a’ popoli; ed essi ti porteranno i tuoi figliuoli in braccio, e le tue figliuole saranno portate in ispalla.
23 Kings will be your foster-fathers and their princesses, your foster-mothers. They will fal prostratebefore you, faces to the ground, and lick the dust at your feet. And you wil know that I am Yahweh; those whohope in me wil not be disappointed.	23 E i re saranno i tuoi balii, e le principesse, lor mogli, le tue balie; essi s’inchineranno a te, bassando la faccia a terra, e leccheranno la polvere de’ tuoi piedi; e tu conoscerai che io sono il Signore, e che quelli che sperano in me non saranno giammai confusi
24 Can the body be snatched from the warrior, can the tyrant's captive be set free?	24 La preda sarebbe ella tolta all’uomo prode? ed i prigioni presi giustamente possono eglino esser riscossi?
25 But thus says Yahweh: The warrior's captive wil indeed be snatched away and the tyrant's booty willindeed be set free; I myself shall fight those who fight you and I myself shal save your children.	25 Conciossiachè così abbia detto il Signore: Eziandio i prigioni dell’uomo prode gli saran tolti, e la preda del possente sarà riscossa; ed io contenderò con quelli che contendono teco, e salverò i tuoi figliuoli.
26 I shal make your oppressors eat their own flesh, they wil be as drunk on their own blood as on newwine. And al humanity wil know that I am Yahweh, your Saviour, your redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.	26 E farò che i tuoi oppressatori mangeranno la lor propria carne, e s’inebbrieranno del lor proprio sangue, a guisa di mosto; ed ogni carne saprà che io sono il Signore, tuo Salvatore, e tuo Redentore, il Possente di Giacobbe
