Isaiah 43

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 And now, thus says Yahweh, he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: Do not be afraid, for Ihave redeemed you; I have cal ed you by your name, you are mine.	1 Ora così parla il Signore, che ti ha creato, o Giacobbe, che ti ha formato, o Israele: "Non temere, perché ti ho redento, ti ho chiamato per nome, tu sei mio.
2 Should you pass through the waters, I shall be with you; or through rivers, they will not swal ow you up.Should you walk through fire, you wil not suffer, and the flame wil not burn you.	2 Quando attraverserai le acque, io sarò con te e i fiumi non ti sommergeranno. Quando camminerai in mezzo al fuoco, non brucerai, la fiamma non ti consumerà.
3 For I am Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I have given Egypt for your ransom,Cush and Seba in exchange for you.	3 Perché io sono il Signore, il tuo Dio, il Santo d'Israele, il tuo salvatore. Ho dato l'Egitto come prezzo per te, l'Etiopia e Seba in tua vece.
4 Since I regard you as precious, since you are honoured and I love you, I therefore give people inexchange for you, and nations in return for your life.	4 Perché sei prezioso ai miei occhi, hai valore e io ti amo. Darò uomini in tua vece e popoli in cambio di te.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I shal bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from thewest.	5 Non temere, perché io sono con te. Farò venire dall'oriente la tua stirpe e ti radunerò dall'occidente.
6 To the north I shal say, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back!' Bring back my sonsfrom far away, and my daughters from the remotest part of the earth,	6 Dirò al settentrione: "Rendili" e al mezzogiorno: "Non ricusarli. Fa' venire i miei figli da lontano e le mie figlie dall'estremità della terra,
7 everyone who bears my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, whom I havemade.	7 quanti si chiamano con il mio nome, quelli che ho creato per la mia gloria, li ho formati e sono opera mia!".
8 Bring forward the people that is blind, yet has eyes, that is deaf and yet has ears.	8 "Fa' uscire il popolo cieco, ma che ha gli occhi, e i sordi, che pure hanno le orecchie.
9 Let al the nations assemble, let the peoples gather here! Which of them has proclaimed this andrevealed things to us in the past? Let them bring their witnesses to justify themselves, let others hear and say, 'Itis true.'	9 Tutte le nazioni si radunino insieme e si raccolgano i popoli. Chi tra essi ha potuto annunciare questo e ci ha fatto intendere il passato? Presentino i loro testimoni per essere giustificati, perché si ascolti e si dica: "E' vero".
10 You yourselves are my witnesses, declares Yahweh, and the servant whom I have chosen, so thatyou may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor wil be after me.	10 Voi siete i miei testimoni, oracolo del Signore, voi siete miei servi, che ho eletto, perché sappiate, crediate in me e comprendiate che sono io. Prima di me non fu fatto alcun dio e dopo di me non vi sarà alcuno.
11 I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me.	11 Io, io sono il Signore e all'infuori di me non c'è alcun salvatore!
12 I have revealed, have saved, and have proclaimed, not some foreigner among you. You are mywitnesses, declares Yahweh, I am God,	12 Io ho annunciato, salvato e proclamato, non un dio straniero tra voi! Voi siete i miei testimoni, oracolo del Signore, e io sono Dio,
13 yes, from eternity I am. No one can deliver from my hand; when I act, who can thwart me?	13 dall'eternità sempre lo stesso. Nessuno può liberare dalla mia mano: agisco e chi lo può cambiare?".
14 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, Ishall knock down al the prison bars, and the Chaldaeans' shouts of joy wil change to lamentations.	14 Così parla il Signore, il vostro redentore, il Santo d'Israele: "Per riguardo a voi l'ho inviato a Babilonia, farò cadere tutte le catene, e i Caldei eleveranno grida di dolore.
15 I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your king.	15 Io, il Signore, sono il vostro Santo, il creatore d'Israele, il vostro Re!".
16 Thus says Yahweh, who made a way through the sea, a path in the raging waters,	16 Così parla il Signore che aprì una strada nel mare e un cammino tra le acque violente,
17 who led out chariot and horse together with an army of picked troops: they lay down never to riseagain, they were snuffed out, put out like a wick.	17 che fece uscire carri e cavalli e un esercito potente; giacciono insieme a terra, non risorgeranno, si sono spenti come uno stoppino, si sono consumati.
18 No need to remember past events, no need to think about what was done before.	18 "Non ricordatevi delle cose passate, non riflettete più alle cose antiche.
19 Look, I am doing something new, now it emerges; can you not see it? Yes, I am making a road in thedesert and rivers in wastelands.	19 Ecco io faccio una cosa nuova: essa già si produce, non riconoscete? Sì, aprirò nel deserto una strada, metterò fiumi nella steppa.
20 The wild animals wil honour me, the jackals and the ostriches, for bestowing water in the desert andrivers on the wastelands for my people, my chosen one, to drink.	20 Mi glorificheranno le bestie selvatiche, gli sciacalli e gli struzzi, perché metterò acqua nel deserto e fiumi nella steppa, per dissetare il mio popolo, il mio eletto.
21 The people I have shaped for myself wil broadcast my praises.	21 Il popolo che mi sono formato, proclamerà la mia lode".
22 But, Jacob, you have not invoked me; no, Israel, you have grown weary of me.	22 "E tu, Giacobbe, non mi hai invocato, anzi ti sei stancato di me, o Israele!
23 You have not brought me lambs as your burnt offerings and have not honoured me with yoursacrifices. I have not subjected you to cereal offering, I have not wearied you by demanding incense.	23 Non mi hai portato i tuoi agnelli in olocausto, e non mi hai onorato con i tuoi sacrifici. Io non ti ho molestato con richieste di offerte e non ti ho stancato esigendo incenso.
24 You have not bought expensive reed for me or sated me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead byyour sins you have trected me like a slave, you have wearied me with your crimes,	24 Non mi hai acquistato con denaro la cannella né mi hai saziato con il grasso dei tuoi sacrifici. Invece mi hai molestato con i tuoi peccati e mi hai stancato con le tue iniquità.
25 I, I it is who blot out your acts of revolt for my own sake and shal not cal your sins to mind.	25 Sono io, sono io che cancello i tuoi misfatti, per il mio onore non ricorderò più i tuoi peccati.
26 Remind me, and we will judge this together; state your own case and justify yourself.	26 Fammi ricordare, discutiamo insieme, racconta tu stesso, così da giustificarti!
27 Your first ancestor sinned, your interpreters revolted against me.	27 Il tuo primo padre peccò, i tuoi interpreti si ribellarono contro di me.
28 That is why I deposed the chief men of my sanctuary, why I put Jacob under the curse of destructionand subjected Israel to insult.	28 I tuoi capi hanno profanato il mio santuario, perciò votai Giacobbe all'anatèma e Israele agli obbrobri".
