Isaiah 29

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Woe, Ariel, Ariel, city where David encamped. Let year after year pass, let the feasts make their fulround,	1 Ai de Ariel, ai de Ariel, a cidade em que Davi acampou! Ajuntai um ano a outro; que se complete um ciclo de festas,
2 then I shall inflict trouble on Ariel, and there wil be sighing and sobbing, and I shal make it truly Ariel.	2 e cercarei Ariel, haverá prantos e gemidos; e tu te tornarás para mim como um ariel.
3 I shal encamp all round you, I shall lay siege to you and mount siege-works against you.	3 Acamparei contra ti como Davi, cercar-te-ei de acampamentos e levantarei trincheiras contra ti.
4 You will be laid low, wil speak from the underworld, your words wil rise like a murmur from the dust.Your voice from the earth wil be like a ghost's, it wil whisper as though coming from the dust.	4 Falarás baixinho, da terra; tua voz sufocada subirá da poeira {tua voz sairá da terra como a de um espectro, tua palavra se elevará da poeira como um ganido}.
5 The horde of your enemies will be like fine dust, the horde of the warriors like flying chaff. Andsuddenly, in an instant,	5 A multidão de teus inimigos será como a poeira fina; a multidão de teus soldados será como a palha, que voa, pois, de repente,
6 you wil be visited by Yahweh Sabaoth with thunder, earthquake, mighty din, hurricane, tempest, flameof devouring fire.	6 serás visitada pelo Senhor dos exércitos com forte trovão, tremor de terra e estrondos, tempestade, furacão e chamas de fogo devorador.
7 It wil be like a dream, like a vision at night: the horde of al the nations at war with Ariel, al thosefighting, besieging and troubling it.	7 Como se dissipa um sonho, uma visão noturna, assim se desvanecerá a multidão das nações que atacam Ariel, os acampamentos e as trincheiras daqueles que a sitiam.
8 It wil be like the dream of a hungry man: he eats, then wakes up with an empty bel y; or like the dreamof a thirsty man: he drinks, then wakes up exhausted with a parched throat. So wil it be with the horde of all thenations making war on Mount Zion.	8 Isso acontecerá tal como acontece com o esfomeado que sonha estar comendo e desperta com o estômago vazio, tal como o sequioso que sonha estar bebendo e acorda fatigado pela sede; assim será feito da multidão das nações que atacam a montanha de Sião.
9 Be stupefied and stunned, go blind, unseeing, drunk but not on wine, staggering but not through liquor.	9 Pasmai-vos e maravilhai-vos, obstinai-vos, feridos de cegueira, embriagai-vos, mas não de vinho, cambaleai, mas não por causa da bebida.
10 For Yahweh has infused you with a spirit of lethargy, he has closed your eyes (the prophets), he hasveiled your heads (the seers).	10 Porque o Senhor espalhou sobre vós um espírito de torpor, fechou vossos olhos e cobriu vossas cabeças.
11 For to you every vision has become like the words of a sealed book. You give it to someone able toread and say, 'Read that.' He replies, 'I cannot, because it is sealed.'	11 A revelação de todos esses acontecimentos permanece para vós como o texto de um livro selado. Quando o oferecem a um letrado, pedindo-lhe que o leia, ele responde: Não posso, o livro está selado;
12 You then give the book to someone who cannot read, and say, 'Read that.' He replies, 'I cannot read.'	12 se o oferecem a um iletrado, pedindo-lhe que o leia, ele responde: Não sei ler.
13 The Lord then said: Because this people approaches me only in words, honours me only with lip-service while their hearts are far from me, and reverence for me, as far as they are concerned, is nothing buthuman commandment, a lesson memorised,	13 O Senhor disse: Esse povo vem a mim apenas com palavras e me honra só com os lábios, enquanto seu coração está longe de mim e o temor que ele me testemunha é convencional e rotineiro,
14 very well, I shal have to go on astounding this people with prodigies and wonders: for the wisdom ofits wise men is doomed, the understanding of any who understand will vanish.	14 por isso continuarei a tratar esse povo de modo tão estranho que a sabedoria dos espertalhões se perderá e a inteligência dos astutos desaparecerá.
15 Woe to those who burrow down to conceal their plans from Yahweh, who scheme in the dark and say,'Who can see us? Who knows who we are?'	15 Ai daqueles que querem esconder do Senhor seus desígnios, que fazem intrigas nas trevas e dizem: Quem nos vê e quem nos conhece?
16 How perverse you are! Is the potter no better than the clay? Something that was made, can it say ofits maker, 'He did not make me'? Or a pot say of the potter, 'He does not know his job'?	16 Que perversidade a vossa! Pode-se tratar como barro o oleiro? Pode a obra dizer do artífice: Ele nada me fez? Pode o pote dizer do oleiro: Ele nada entende disso?
17 Is it not true that in a very short time the Lebanon wil become productive ground, so productive youmight take it for a forest?	17 Acaso, dentro de mui pouco tempo, não será o Líbano convertido em vergel, e o vergel não passará por floresta?
18 That day the deaf wil hear the words of the book and, delivered from shadow and darkness, the eyesof the blind wil see.	18 Naquele tempo os surdos ouvirão as palavras de um livro; e, livres da obscuridade e das trevas, os olhos dos cegos verão.
19 The lowly wil find ever more joy in Yahweh and the poorest of people wil delight in the Holy One ofIsrael;	19 Os humildes encontrarão cada vez mais ventura no Senhor e os homens mais pobres, graças ao Santo de Israel, estarão jubilosos.
20 for the tyrant will be no more, the scoffer has vanished and al those on the look-out for evil have beendestroyed:	20 Pois não haverá mais tiranos, já terá desaparecido o cético, e todos os que planejavam o mal serão exterminados;
21 those who incriminate others by their words, those who lay traps for the arbitrator at the gate andgroundlessly deprive the upright of fair judgement.	21 os que, por uma palavra, acusam os outros; os que, à porta, procuram enganar o juiz e por um nada fazem o inocente perder sua causa.
22 That is why Yahweh, God of the House of Jacob, Abraham's redeemer, says this, 'No longer shallJacob be disappointed, no more shal his face grow pale,	22 Por isso eis o que disse o Senhor, o Deus da casa de Jacó, que resgatou Abraão: Daqui em diante Jacó não será mais confundido, e seu rosto não mais empalidecerá,
23 for when he sees his children, my creatures, home again with him, he will acknowledge my name asholy, he wil acknowledge the Holy One of Jacob to be holy and wil hold the God of Israel in awe.	23 porque, quando virem nele minha obra, bendirão o meu nome. Glorificarão o Santo de Jacó e temerão o Deus de Israel.
24 Erring spirits wil learn to understand and murmurers accept instruction.'	24 Os espíritos desencaminhados aprenderão sabedoria, e os que murmuravam receberão instrução.
