Isaiah 29

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Woe, Ariel, Ariel, city where David encamped. Let year after year pass, let the feasts make their fulround,	1 Guai ad Arièl, ad Arièl, città in cui si accampò Davide! Aggiungete anno ad anno, le feste compiono il loro ciclo.
2 then I shall inflict trouble on Ariel, and there wil be sighing and sobbing, and I shal make it truly Ariel.	2 Metterò Arièl alle strette, ci sarà lamento e gemito e diventerà per me come un Arièl.
3 I shal encamp all round you, I shall lay siege to you and mount siege-works against you.	3 Mi accamperò contro di te come Davide, e ti assedierò con trincee, e innalzerò fortezze contro di te.
4 You will be laid low, wil speak from the underworld, your words wil rise like a murmur from the dust.Your voice from the earth wil be like a ghost's, it wil whisper as though coming from the dust.	4 Abbattuta parlerai dalla terra e dalla polvere verrà sommessa la tua parola; sembrerà di un fantasma la tua voce dalla terra e dalla polvere bisbiglierà la tua parola.
5 The horde of your enemies will be like fine dust, the horde of the warriors like flying chaff. Andsuddenly, in an instant,	5 La moltitudine degli stranieri sarà come polvere minuta e la turba dei tiranni come pula dispersa. Ma all'improvviso, sull'istante,
6 you wil be visited by Yahweh Sabaoth with thunder, earthquake, mighty din, hurricane, tempest, flameof devouring fire.	6 tu sarai visitata dal Signore degli eserciti con tuoni, terremoti, grande fracasso, con uragano, tempesta e fiamma di fuoco divorante.
7 It wil be like a dream, like a vision at night: the horde of al the nations at war with Ariel, al thosefighting, besieging and troubling it.	7 Come un sogno, come una visione notturna sarà la moltitudine di tutte le nazioni che marceranno contro Arièl, di tutti i suoi attaccanti, delle torri di quelli che l'assediano.
8 It wil be like the dream of a hungry man: he eats, then wakes up with an empty bel y; or like the dreamof a thirsty man: he drinks, then wakes up exhausted with a parched throat. So wil it be with the horde of all thenations making war on Mount Zion.	8 Sarà come quando l'affamato sogna di mangiare, ma si sveglia e il suo stomaco è vuoto; e come quando l'assetato sogna di bere, ma svegliato è stanco e la gola è asciutta; così avverrà alla moltitudine delle nazioni che combattono contro il monte Sion.
9 Be stupefied and stunned, go blind, unseeing, drunk but not on wine, staggering but not through liquor.	9 Fermatevi e stupite, chiudete gli occhi e rimanete ciechi, inebriatevi, ma non di vino, traballate, ma non a causa della bevanda inebriante!
10 For Yahweh has infused you with a spirit of lethargy, he has closed your eyes (the prophets), he hasveiled your heads (the seers).	10 Perché il Signore ha versato su di voi uno spirito di torpore; ha chiuso i vostri occhi e ha velato le vostre teste.
11 For to you every vision has become like the words of a sealed book. You give it to someone able toread and say, 'Read that.' He replies, 'I cannot, because it is sealed.'	11 Ogni visione sarà per voi come le parole di un libro sigillato, che si dà a uno che conosca la scrittura dicendo: "Leggi questo", ma egli risponde: "Non posso, perché è sigillato".
12 You then give the book to someone who cannot read, and say, 'Read that.' He replies, 'I cannot read.'	12 Allora si dà il libro a qualcuno che non sa leggere dicendo: "Leggi questo", ma egli risponde: "Non so leggere".
13 The Lord then said: Because this people approaches me only in words, honours me only with lip-service while their hearts are far from me, and reverence for me, as far as they are concerned, is nothing buthuman commandment, a lesson memorised,	13 Dice il Signore: "Poiché questo popolo si avvicina a me solo a parole e mi onora solo con le labbra, ma il suo cuore è lontano da me e il suo culto verso di me non è altro che un comandamento di uomini, che è stato loro insegnato,
14 very well, I shal have to go on astounding this people with prodigies and wonders: for the wisdom ofits wise men is doomed, the understanding of any who understand will vanish.	14 perciò, ecco, continuerò a compiere meraviglie e prodigi per questo popolo; perirà la sapienza dei suoi sapienti e scomparirà l'intelligenza degli intelligenti".
15 Woe to those who burrow down to conceal their plans from Yahweh, who scheme in the dark and say,'Who can see us? Who knows who we are?'	15 Guai a quanti si nascondono dinanzi al Signore per dissimulare il loro progetto, mentre il loro operato avviene nel segreto, e dicono: "Chi ci vede? Chi ci conosce?".
16 How perverse you are! Is the potter no better than the clay? Something that was made, can it say ofits maker, 'He did not make me'? Or a pot say of the potter, 'He does not know his job'?	16 Oh, la vostra perversità! Forse che il vasaio è considerato pari all'argilla? Può dire l'opera a chi l'ha fatta: "Non mi hai fatto"? E un vaso può dire al vasaio: "Non è intelligente"?
17 Is it not true that in a very short time the Lebanon wil become productive ground, so productive youmight take it for a forest?	17 Ancora un po' di tempo, il Libano non si cambierà in giardino? E il giardino sarà considerato una foresta.
18 That day the deaf wil hear the words of the book and, delivered from shadow and darkness, the eyesof the blind wil see.	18 In quel giorno i sordi intenderanno le parole del libro; uscendo dall'oscurità e dalle tenebre, gli occhi dei ciechi vedranno.
19 The lowly wil find ever more joy in Yahweh and the poorest of people wil delight in the Holy One ofIsrael;	19 Gli umili gioiranno ancora nel Signore, e i poveri esulteranno nel Santo d'Israele.
20 for the tyrant will be no more, the scoffer has vanished and al those on the look-out for evil have beendestroyed:	20 Perché il tiranno non sarà più e il derisore sparirà, saranno sterminati quanti tramano l'iniquità,
21 those who incriminate others by their words, those who lay traps for the arbitrator at the gate andgroundlessly deprive the upright of fair judgement.	21 che fanno peccare gli uomini in parole, tendono un tranello al giudice alla porta e quelli che fan torto al giusto per un nulla.
22 That is why Yahweh, God of the House of Jacob, Abraham's redeemer, says this, 'No longer shallJacob be disappointed, no more shal his face grow pale,	22 Perciò così parla il Signore, il Dio della casa di Giacobbe, colui che ha riscattato Abramo: "D'ora in poi non sarà confuso Giacobbe, la sua faccia non impallidirà più,
23 for when he sees his children, my creatures, home again with him, he will acknowledge my name asholy, he wil acknowledge the Holy One of Jacob to be holy and wil hold the God of Israel in awe.	23 perché vedendo i suoi figli l'opera delle mie mani in mezzo a loro santificheranno il mio nome. Santificheranno il Santo di Giacobbe e temeranno il Dio d'Israele.
24 Erring spirits wil learn to understand and murmurers accept instruction.'	24 Gli spiriti fuorviati acquisteranno intelligenza e i brontoloni apprenderanno la dottrina".
