NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Woe to the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower of its proud splendour sited atthe head of the lush val ey, to those prostrated by wine!	1 Guai alla superba corona degli ubriachi di Efraim, al fiore caduco del suo splendido ornamento, che si trova al vertice della pingue valle degli storditi dal vino.
2 See, a strong and mighty man in the Lord's service, like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, likeimmense flood-waters overflowing, with his hand he throws them to the ground.	2 Ecco un forte, un potente inviato dal Signore, come una tempesta di grandine, un turbine devastatore, come una tempesta di acque potenti e inondanti, con la sua mano getta tutto a terra.
3 They wil be trampled underfoot, the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards,	3 Sotto i piedi sarà calpestata la superba corona degli ubriachi di Efraim.
4 and the faded flower of its proud splendour sited at the head of the lush val ey. Like a fig ripe beforesummer comes: whoever spots it forthwith picks and swal ows it.	4 E il fiore caduco del suo splendido ornamento, che si trova al vertice della pingue valle, sarà come un fico primaticcio prima dell'estate, quando uno lo vede, lo inghiotte appena l'ha in mano.
5 That day Yahweh Sabaoth wil be a crown of splendour and a proud diadem for the remnant of hispeople,	5 In quel giorno il Signore degli eserciti sarà una splendida corona, un magnifico diadema per il resto del suo popolo,
6 a spirit of fair judgement for him who sits in judgement, and the strength of those who repel the assaulton the gate.	6 uno spirito di giustizia per chi siede in tribunale, una forza per coloro che respingono l'assalto alla porta.
7 These too have been confused by wine, have gone astray owing to liquor. Priest and prophet havebecome confused by liquor, are sodden with wine, have strayed owing to liquor, have become confused in theirvisions, have strayed in their decisions.	7 Anche costoro barcollano per il vino e per la bevanda inebriante vacillano; sacerdoti e profeti barcollano per la bevanda inebriante, sono storditi dal vino, vacillano per la bevanda inebriante, barcollano come avessero visioni, si intoppano pronunciando il verdetto.
8 Yes, every table is covered in filthy vomit, not one is clean!	8 Sì, tutte le loro mense sono piene di vomito ripugnante, non vi è posto pulito.
9 'Whom does he think he is lecturing? Whom does he think his message is for? Babies just weaned?Babies just taken from the breast?	9 "A chi vuole insegnare la scienza? A chi vuole far comprendere il messaggio? A quelli che sono stati slattati, staccati dal seno?

So that when they walk they wil fal over backwards and so be broken, trapped and taken captive.	13 Allora il Signore parlerà ad essi: "Precetto su precetto, precetto su precetto, regola su regola, regola su regola, un po' qui, un po' là", onde camminando cadano indietro, si fratturino, siano presi al laccio e catturati.
14 Hence listen to Yahweh's word, you insolent men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem.	14 Perciò udite la parola del Signore, voi arroganti, che governate questo popolo e abitate a Gerusalemme!
15 Because you have said, 'We have made a treaty with Death and have struck a pact with Sheol. Whenthe scourging flood comes over, it wil not touch us, for we have made lies our refuge and hidden underfalsehood.'	15 Poiché dite: "Abbiamo concluso un patto con la morte e con gli inferi abbiamo fatto un'alleanza. Quando passerà lo straripante flagello, non ci raggiungerà, perché abbiamo fatto della menzogna il nostro rifugio e ci siamo riparati nella falsità".
16 So the Lord Yahweh says this, 'Now I shall lay a stone in Zion, a granite stone, a precious corner-stone, a firm foundation-stone: no one who relies on this will stumble.	16 Perciò così parla il Signore Dio: "Ecco, io pongo in Sion una pietra, una pietra scelta, angolare, preziosa, bene fondata; chi crede, non si agiterà.
17 And I wil make fair judgement the measure, and uprightness the plumb-line.' But hail wil sweep awaythe refuge of lies and floods wash away the hiding-place;	17 Porrò come misura il giudizio e la giustizia come livella. La grandine spazzerà via il rifugio di menzogna e le acque travolgeranno il riparo.
18 your treaty with Death wil be broken and your pact with Sheol wil not hold. When the scourging floodcomes over, you wil be trodden down by it;	18 Sarà annullato il vostro patto con la morte e la vostra alleanza con gli inferi non reggerà. Quando passerà lo straripante flagello, voi ne sarete calpestati.
19 every time it comes over, it wil seize on you, for it wil come over, morning after morning, day by dayand night by night. Nothing but fear will make you understand what you hear.	19 Ogniqualvolta passerà, vi prenderà, perché passerà ogni mattino, di giorno e di notte; non vi sarà che spavento nel comprendere ciò che è rivelato.
20 For the bed is too short to stretch in, the blanket too narrow for covering.	20 Il letto sarà troppo corto per distendersi, troppo stretta la coperta per avvolgervisi".
21 Yes, as on Mount Perazim, Yahweh will rise, as in the Val ey of Gibeon, he wil storm to do his work,his mysterious work, to do his deed, his extraordinary deed.	21 Sì, il Signore si leverà come al monte Perazìm, fremerà come nella valle di Gàbaon, per compiere la sua opera, un'opera straordinaria, per adempiere il suo progetto, progetto singolare.
22 Stop scoffing, then, or your bonds wil be tightened further, for I have heard it: it has been irrevocablydecided as regards the whole country by the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	22 Ora smettete di essere arroganti, affinché non si rinforzino le vostre catene, perché ho udito un decreto di rovina da parte del Signore, Dio degli eserciti, riguardo a tutto il paese.
23 Listen closely to my words, be attentive, understand what I am saying.	23 Fate attenzione e udite la mia voce, siate attenti e udite la mia parola!
24 Does the ploughman plough al day to sow, breaking up and harrowing his ground?	24 Ara forse l'aratore tutto il giorno per seminare? Non scinde egli e sarchia il terreno?
25 Once he has level ed its surface, does he not scatter fennel, sow cummin? Then he puts in wheat,mil et, barley and, round the edges, spelt,	25 Non appiana egli la superficie, non vi semina l'anèto, e non vi sparge il comino? Non mette il grano e l'orzo e la spelta nel suo spazio?
26 for his God has taught him this rule and instructed him.	26 Il suo Dio gli ha inculcato questa regola, lo ha ammaestrato.
27 Fennel must not be crushed with a sledge, nor cart-wheels driven over cummin; fennel must bebeaten with a stick, and cummin with a flail.	27 Certo, l'anèto non si trebbia con la trebbiatrice né si fa circolare il rullo sul comino, ma l'anèto si batte con il bastone e il comino con la verga.
28 When you are threshing wheat, you do not waste time crushing it; you get the horse and cart-wheelmoving, but you do not grind it fine.	28 Si schiaccia forse il frumento? Certo, non lo si pesta indefinitamente; vi si fanno passare sopra la ruota del carro e i suoi cavalli, ma non lo si schiaccia.
29 Al this is a gift from Yahweh Sabaoth, marvel ous advice leading to great achievements.	29 Anche ciò proviene dal Signore degli eserciti, che è meraviglioso nel suo consiglio e grande in sapienza.
