Isaiah 28

1 Woe to the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower of its proud splendour sited atthe head of the lush val ey, to those prostrated by wine!	1 Guai alla corona di superbia, agli ubriachi di Efraim; al fiore cadente della gloria, e della allegrezza di lui, a que', che stavan sull'alto di fertilissima valle, istupiditi dal vino.
2 See, a strong and mighty man in the Lord's service, like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, likeimmense flood-waters overflowing, with his hand he throws them to the ground.	2 Ecco il Signore forte, e possente come grandine impetuosa, come turbine, che devasta, come massa grande d'acque, che inondano, e allagano spazioso terreno.
3 They wil be trampled underfoot, the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards,	3 La superba corona degli ubriachi di Efraim sarà pestata co' piedi.
4 and the faded flower of its proud splendour sited at the head of the lush val ey. Like a fig ripe beforesummer comes: whoever spots it forthwith picks and swal ows it.	4 E il fior cadente della gloria, e della letizia di lui, che sta sull alto di fertilissima valle, sarà come un frutto primaticcio, maturato avanti l'autunno, il quale chiunque lo vede, subitamente lo coglie, e lo divora.
5 That day Yahweh Sabaoth wil be a crown of splendour and a proud diadem for the remnant of hispeople,	5 In quel giorno il Signore degli eserciti sarà corona di gloria, e ghirlanda di letizia alle reliquie del popol suo:
6 a spirit of fair judgement for him who sits in judgement, and the strength of those who repel the assaulton the gate.	6 E sarà spirito di giustizia per colui, che siede per far giutstizia, e fortezza a quegli, che in città tornano dalla guerra.
7 These too have been confused by wine, have gone astray owing to liquor. Priest and prophet havebecome confused by liquor, are sodden with wine, have strayed owing to liquor, have become confused in theirvisions, have strayed in their decisions.	7 Ma questi ancora han perduto l'intelletto pel troppo bere, e per l'ubriachezza sono usciti di strada. Il sacerdote, ed il profeta han perduto l'intelletto per l'ubriachezza, sono dominati dal vino, l'ubriachezza li fé uscire di strada, non vogliono saper nulla de' profeti, non conoscono giustizia.
8 Yes, every table is covered in filthy vomit, not one is clean!	8 Perocché le mense tutte sono piene di reciticci, e di sporcizie, sicché nissun luogo vi resti netto.
9 'Whom does he think he is lecturing? Whom does he think his message is for? Babies just weaned?Babies just taken from the breast?	9 A chi comunicherà egli la scienza, ed a chi darai intelligenza delle cose udite? A que', che son divezzati dal latte, a que', che sono staccati dalle mammelle.
10 With his "Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeer sham!"	10 Perocché ordina, e riordina, ordina, e riordina, aspetta, e riaspetta, aspetta, e riaspetta, un poco qui, un poco qui.
11 Now, with stammering lips and in a foreign language, he wil talk to this nation.	11 Ma per altre labbra, e con altro linguaggio parlerà a questo popolo,
12 He used to say to them, 'Here you can rest! Here you can let the weary rest! Here al is quiet.' But theyrefused to listen.	12 A cui egli disse: Qui è il mio riposo: ristorate il debole; e questo è il mio refrigerio: e non hanno voluto ascoltare.
13 Now Yahweh is going to say this to them, 'Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeersham.' So that when they walk they wil fal over backwards and so be broken, trapped and taken captive.	13 E il Signore dirà ad essi: Ordina, e riordina, ordina, e riordina, aspetta, e riaspetta, aspetta, e riaspetta, un poco qui, un poco qui: affinchè vadano, e cadano all'indietro, e siano pestati, e diano nel laccio, e siano presi.
14 Hence listen to Yahweh's word, you insolent men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem.	14 Per questo udite la parola del Signore, o uomini beffeggiatori, che dominate il mio popolo, che è in Gerusalemme.
15 Because you have said, 'We have made a treaty with Death and have struck a pact with Sheol. Whenthe scourging flood comes over, it wil not touch us, for we have made lies our refuge and hidden underfalsehood.'	15 Perocché avete detto: Abbiam contrattato con la morte, e abbiam fatta una convenzione coll'inferno: quando venga il flagello come torrente, non arriverà a noi, perchè ci siamo affidati alla menzogna, e la menzogna ci protegge.
16 So the Lord Yahweh says this, 'Now I shall lay a stone in Zion, a granite stone, a precious corner-stone, a firm foundation-stone: no one who relies on this will stumble.	16 Per questo dice cosi il Signore Dio: Ecco, che io pongo ne' fondamenti di Sion una pietra, pietra eletta, angolare, preziosa, saldissimo fonda mento: chi crede, non abbia fretta.
17 And I wil make fair judgement the measure, and uprightness the plumb-line.' But hail wil sweep awaythe refuge of lies and floods wash away the hiding-place;	17 E farò giudizio a peso, e giustizia con misura: e la grandine distruggerà la speranza posta nella menzogna, e la vostra difesa sarà sepolta nelle acque.
18 your treaty with Death wil be broken and your pact with Sheol wil not hold. When the scourging floodcomes over, you wil be trodden down by it;	18 E sarà cancellato il contratto vostro colla morte, e il vostro patto coll'inferno non reggerà: allorché il flagello verrà guai torrente, vi strascinerà seco.
19 every time it comes over, it wil seize on you, for it wil come over, morning after morning, day by dayand night by night. Nothing but fear will make you understand what you hear.	19 Subito ch'ei verrà, vi porterà via: imperocché di gran mattino verrà, e continuerà i dì, e le notti: e la sola afflizione farà intendere le cose ascoltate.
20 For the bed is too short to stretch in, the blanket too narrow for covering.	20 Imperocché il letto è stretto talmente, che l'uno dee cadere; e la coperta, che è piccola, non può servire per l'uno, e per l'altro.
21 Yes, as on Mount Perazim, Yahweh will rise, as in the Val ey of Gibeon, he wil storm to do his work,his mysterious work, to do his deed, his extraordinary deed.	21 Imperocché il Signore si alzerà come già sul monte delle divisioni: si adirerà come nella valle di Gabaon: per fare l'opera sua, opera sua, ch'ei non ama, per fare l'opera sua, che è strania per lui.
22 Stop scoffing, then, or your bonds wil be tightened further, for I have heard it: it has been irrevocablydecided as regards the whole country by the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	22 Or adunque non ischernite più, affinchè non si stringano i vostri legami: perocché dal Signore Dio degli eserciti ho udita la distruzione, che sarà in breve per tutta la terra.
23 Listen closely to my words, be attentive, understand what I am saying.	23 Prestate le orecchie, e udite la mia voce: ponete mente, e date retta alla mia parola.
24 Does the ploughman plough al day to sow, breaking up and harrowing his ground?	24 Forsechè l'aratore sempre ara per seminare, e rompe, e fende il suo campo?
25 Once he has level ed its surface, does he not scatter fennel, sow cummin? Then he puts in wheat,mil et, barley and, round the edges, spelt,	25 Agguagliata, che ha la superfìcie, non vi semina egli il gith, e sparge il cumino, e mette ordinatamente, e a luoghi loro il frumento, l'orzo, è il miglio, e la vezza?
26 for his God has taught him this rule and instructed him.	26 Imperocché il suo Dio gli dà conoscimento, e lo ammaestra.
27 Fennel must not be crushed with a sledge, nor cart-wheels driven over cummin; fennel must bebeaten with a stick, and cummin with a flail.	27 Il gith non si tribbierà per via di tavole co' denti di ferro, né la ruota del carro andrà in volta sopra il cumino; ma il gith si batterà con una verga, e il cumino con uno scudiscio.
28 When you are threshing wheat, you do not waste time crushing it; you get the horse and cart-wheelmoving, but you do not grind it fine.	28 Le grasce poi si batteranno; ma non senza termine le batterà colui, che le batte, né sempre saran permute dalla ruota del carro, né pestate dagli zoccoli delle bestie.
29 Al this is a gift from Yahweh Sabaoth, marvel ous advice leading to great achievements.	29 Questo pure è venuto dal Signore Dio degli eserciti, che ha renduti ammirabili i suoi consigli, ed ha segnalata la sua giustizia.
