Sirach 45

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 From Jacob's stock he produced a generous man who found favour in the eyes of al humanity, belovedby God and people, Moses, of blessed memory.	1 Mosè amato da Dio, e dagli uomini: la memoria di lui è in benedizione.
2 He made him the equal of the holy ones in glory and made him strong, to the terror of his enemies.	2 Il Signore lo fe' simile a' santi nella gloria, e lo fece grande, e terribile ai nemici; ed egli colla sua parola calmò le piaghe prodigiose.
3 By the word of Moses, he made prodigies cease and raised him high in the respect of kings; he gavehim commandments for his people, and showed him something of his glory.	3 Lo glorificò nel cospetto dei re, e gli diede i comandamenti da portare al suo popolo, e gli fece veder la sua gloria.
4 For his loyalty and gentleness he sanctified him, choosing him alone out of al human beings;	4 Santificollo mediante la sua fede, e mansuetudine; e lo elesse tra tutti gli uomini.
5 he al owed him to hear his voice, and led him into the darkness;	5 Onde egli udì lui, e la sua voce, e (Dio) lo fece entrar nella nuvola.
6 he gave him the commandments face to face, the law of life and knowledge, to teach Jacob hisordinances and Israel his decrees. He raised up Aaron, a holy man like Moses, his brother, of the tribe of Levi.	6 E testa a testa gli diede i precetti, e la legge di vita, e di scienza, affinchè: a Giacobbe notificasse il suo patto, e i suoi giudizj a Israele.
7 He made an everlasting covenant with him, and gave him the priesthood of the people. He adorned himwith impressive vestments, he dressed him in a robe of glory.	7 Dio sublimò Aronne suo fratello simile a lui della tribù di Levi:
8 He clothed him in glorious perfection and invested him with rich ornaments, the breeches, the longrobe, the ephod.	8 E con lui fermò un patto eterno, e a lui diede il sacerdozio della nazione, e lo fece beato, e glorioso:
9 To surround the robe he gave him pomegranates, and many gold bel s al round to chime at every step,for their sound to be heard in the Temple as a reminder to the children of his people;	9 E gli messe a' fianchi cingolo di gloria, e lo abbigliò di vestimenti gloriosi, e lo onorò di maestosi ornamenti,
10 and a sacred vestment of gold and aquamarine and scarlet, the work of an embroiderer; the pectoralof judgement, the urim and thummim, of plaited crimson, the work of a craftsman;	10 E gli diede la veste talare, e le brache, e l'ephod, e gli mise attorno i molti sonagli di oro,
11 precious stones cut like seals mounted in gold, the work of a jeweller, as a reminder with theirengraved inscriptions of the number of the tribes of Israel;	11 Perché facesser rumore mentr'ei si moveva, e il rumore si sentisse nel tempio per risvegliar la memoria ne' figliuoli del popol suo.
12 and a golden diadem on his turban, engraved with the seal of consecration; superb ornamentation,magnificent work, adornment to delight the eye.	12 Il razionale santo, lavoro tessuto di oro, e di jacinto, e di porpora da un uomo saggio dotato di vera prudenza:
13 There had never been such lovely things before him, and no one else has ever put them on, but onlyhis own sons, and his descendants for all time.	13 Opera artificiosa fatta di fila torte di cocco con pietre preziose incastrate in oro scolpite da industre incisore tante in numero, quante erano le tribù, di Israele, e per memoria di esse.
14 His sacrifices were to be burnt entirely, twice each day and for ever.	14 Una corona di oro sopra la sua mitra, dove era scolpito il sigillo di santità ornamento di onorificenza, di insigne lavoro, che rapiva gli occhi colla sua bellezza.
15 Moses consecrated him and anointed him with holy oil; and this was an everlasting covenant for him,and for his descendants as long as the heavens endure, that he should preside over worship, act as priest, andbless the people in the name of the Lord.	15 Cose sì belle non si videro prima di lui dalla fondazione del mondo.
16 He chose him out of al the living to offer sacrifices to the Lord, incense and perfume as a memorial tomake expiation for the people.	16 Nissuno straniero se ne vesti, ma solamente i figliuoli di lui, e i soli nipoti di lui in tutti i tempi.
17 He entrusted him with his commandments, committed to him the statutes of the Law for him to teachJacob his decrees and enlighten Israel on his Law.	17 I suoi sagrifizj furono ogni dì consunti sul fuoco;
18 Others plotted against him, they were jealous of him in the desert, Dathan and Abiram and their men,Korah and his crew in fury and rage.	18 Mosè empiè le sue mani, e lo unse con olio santo.
19 The Lord saw it and was displeased, his raging fury made an end of them; he worked miracles onthem, consuming them by his flaming fire.	19 Fu eterno come i giorni del cielo il patto fermato con lui, e colla sua stirpe, che esercitasser le funzioni sacerdotali, e cantasser le laudi (di Dio); e benedicessero nel nome di lui il popol suo.
20 And he added to Aaron's glory, he gave him an inheritance; he allotted him the offerings of the first-fruits, before al else, as much bread as he could want.	20 Lo elesse (Dio) tra tutti i viventi ad offerire i sagrilizj, e gli incensi di odor soave per farlo ricordare del popolo, e renderlo a lui placato:
21 Thus they eat the sacrifices of the Lord which he gave to him and his posterity.	21 E gli diede autorità intorno a' suoi precetti, e leggi, e i giudizj per insegnare a Giacobbe i comandamenti, e per dare a Israele l'intelligenza della sua legge.
22 But of the people's territory he inherits nothing, he alone of all the people has no share, 'For I myselfam your share and heritage.'	22 Ma essendosi mossi contro di lui uomini estranei, e per astio, e per mal talento essendo andati a investirlo nel deserto quelli, che erano con Dathan, e Abiron, e i fazionari di Core,
23 Phinehas son of Eleazar is third in glory because of his zeal in the fear of the Lord, because he stoodfirm when the people revolted, with a staunch and courageous heart; and in this way made expiation for Israel.	23 Il Signore, veduto ciò ne ebbe dispetto, e coll'impetuoso suo sdegno li distrusse.
24 Hence a covenant of peace was sealed with him, making him governor of both sanctuary and people,and securing to him and his descendants the high priestly dignity for ever.	24 Fece orrendi prodigi contro di loro, e nelle ardenti fiamme li annichilò.
25 There was also a covenant with David son of Jesse, of the tribe of Judah, a royal succession byexclusively linear descent, but the succession of Aaron passes to al his descendants.	25 E di nuova gloria ornò Aronne; e gli assegnò l'eredità, e gli diede le primizie de' frutti della terra.
26 May God endow your hearts with wisdom to judge his people uprightly, so that the virtues of yourancestors may never fade, and their glory may pass to all their descendants!	26 Preparò ad essi abbondante sostentamento mediante le primizie, e oltre a ciò eglino mangeranno de' sagrifizj del Signore dati a lui, e alla sua stirpe.
	27 Ma egli non ha possessione nella terra delle genti, e non gli fu data porzione tralla sua gente, perché Dio è sua porzione, e sua eredità.
	28 Phinees Figliuolo di Eleazaro è il terzo in tanta gloria, imitatore di Aronne nel timore del Signore:
	29 E collo star costante nella ignominia della nazione: egli colla bontà, e risoluzione del suo cuore rendette placato Dio a Israele.
	30 Per questo Dio fece con lui un patto di pace, lo fece principe delle cose sante, e del suo popolo, e die egli, e la sua stirpe possedesse la dignità sacerdotale in eterno.
	31 Così fu il patto con David re figliuolo di Jesse della tribù di Giuda, facendo erede del regno lui, e il suo seme, affine e di riempiere di sapienza i nostri cuori, e perché il suo popolo sia governato con giustizia, affinché non si perda la sua felicità. Egli ha renduta eterna la loro gloria presso la loro nazione.
