Sirach 45

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 From Jacob's stock he produced a generous man who found favour in the eyes of al humanity, belovedby God and people, Moses, of blessed memory.	1 De él, hizo nacer a un hombre de bien, que halló gracia a los ojos de todos y fue amado por Dios y por los hombres: Moisés, de bendita memoria.
2 He made him the equal of the holy ones in glory and made him strong, to the terror of his enemies.	2 Le concedió una gloria igual a la de los santos y lo hizo poderoso, temido por sus enemigos.
3 By the word of Moses, he made prodigies cease and raised him high in the respect of kings; he gavehim commandments for his people, and showed him something of his glory.	3 Por sus palabras, hizo cesar los prodigios, y lo glorificó delante de los reyes; le dio mandamientos para su pueblo y le hizo ver galo de su gloria
4 For his loyalty and gentleness he sanctified him, choosing him alone out of al human beings;	4 Por su fidelidad y mansedumbre, lo consagró y lo eligió entre todos sus mortales.
5 he al owed him to hear his voice, and led him into the darkness;	5 A él le hizo oír su voz, lo introdujo en la nube oscura y le dio cara a cara los mandamientos, una Ley de vida y de entendimiento, para enseñar la Alianza a Jacob, y sus decretos a Israel.
6 he gave him the commandments face to face, the law of life and knowledge, to teach Jacob hisordinances and Israel his decrees. He raised up Aaron, a holy man like Moses, his brother, of the tribe of Levi.	6 Exaltó a Aarón, un santo semejante a Moisés, su hermano, de la tribu de Leví.
7 He made an everlasting covenant with him, and gave him the priesthood of the people. He adorned himwith impressive vestments, he dressed him in a robe of glory.	7 Lo estableció en virtud de un pacto irrevocable y le confirió el sacerdocio del pueblo. Lo atavió con espléndidos ornamentos y lo ciñó con una vestidura gloriosa.
8 He clothed him in glorious perfection and invested him with rich ornaments, the breeches, the longrobe, the ephod.	8 Lo revistió con toda magnificencia y lo confirmó con las insignias del poder: los pantalones, la túnica y el efod;
9 To surround the robe he gave him pomegranates, and many gold bel s al round to chime at every step,for their sound to be heard in the Temple as a reminder to the children of his people;	9 puso granadas alrededor de su manto y lo rodeó de numerosas campanillas de oro, para que tintinearan a cada uno de sus pasos, haciendo oír su sonido en el Templo, como memorial para los hijos de su pueblo.
10 and a sacred vestment of gold and aquamarine and scarlet, the work of an embroiderer; the pectoralof judgement, the urim and thummim, of plaited crimson, the work of a craftsman;	10 Le dio la vestidura sagrada –obra de un bordador tejida en oro, jacinto y púrpura; el pectoral del juicio, con el Urím y el Tumím, hecho de hilo escarlata –obra de un artesano–
11 precious stones cut like seals mounted in gold, the work of a jeweller, as a reminder with theirengraved inscriptions of the number of the tribes of Israel;	11 con piedras preciosas, grabadas en forma de sellos y engarzadas en oro –obra de un joyero– para servir de memorial, por la inscripción grabada, según el número de las tribus de Israel;
12 and a golden diadem on his turban, engraved with the seal of consecration; superb ornamentation,magnificent work, adornment to delight the eye.	12 la diadema de oro encima del turbante, grabada con la señal de su consagración: insignia de honor, trabajo magnífico, ornamento que es un placer para la vista.
13 There had never been such lovely things before him, and no one else has ever put them on, but onlyhis own sons, and his descendants for all time.	13 Antes de él, no se vio nada tan hermoso, y nunca un extranjero se vistió de esa manera, sino únicamente sus hijos y sus descendientes para siempre.
14 His sacrifices were to be burnt entirely, twice each day and for ever.	14 Sus sacrificios se consumen enteramente, dos veces por día, en forma continua.
15 Moses consecrated him and anointed him with holy oil; and this was an everlasting covenant for him,and for his descendants as long as the heavens endure, that he should preside over worship, act as priest, andbless the people in the name of the Lord.	15 Moisés le confirió la investidura y lo ungió con el óleo santo. Esta fue una alianza eterna para él y para sus descendientes, mientras dure el cielo, para que sirvan a Dios como sacerdotes y bendigan al pueblo en su nombre.
16 He chose him out of al the living to offer sacrifices to the Lord, incense and perfume as a memorial tomake expiation for the people.	16 El lo eligió entre todos los vivientes para presentar al Señor la ofrenda, el incienso y el perfume como memorial, y para hacer la expiación en favor de su pueblo.
17 He entrusted him with his commandments, committed to him the statutes of the Law for him to teachJacob his decrees and enlighten Israel on his Law.	17 El confió sus mandamientos y le dio autoridad sobre los decretos de la Alianza, a fin de enseñar sus preceptos a Jacob e iluminar a Israel acerca de su Ley.
18 Others plotted against him, they were jealous of him in the desert, Dathan and Abiram and their men,Korah and his crew in fury and rage.	18 Unos intrusos se confabularon contra él y le tuvieron celos en el desierto: los secuaces de Datán y Abirón y la banda de Coré, ardiendo de furor.
19 The Lord saw it and was displeased, his raging fury made an end of them; he worked miracles onthem, consuming them by his flaming fire.	19 Al ver esto, el Señor se disgustó y fueron exterminados por el ardor de su ira: él obró prodigios contra ellos, consumiéndolos con su fuego ardiente.
20 And he added to Aaron's glory, he gave him an inheritance; he allotted him the offerings of the first-fruits, before al else, as much bread as he could want.	20 Aumentó más todavía la gloria de Aarón, y le concedió una herencia: le asignó como parte las primicias de los primeros frutos y le aseguró, en primer lugar, el alimento en abundancia,
21 Thus they eat the sacrifices of the Lord which he gave to him and his posterity.	21 porque ellos se alimentan de los sacrificios del Señor, que él concedió a Aarón y a su descendencia.
22 But of the people's territory he inherits nothing, he alone of all the people has no share, 'For I myselfam your share and heritage.'	22 Pero en la tierra del pueblo, él no tiene herencia, ni hay parte para él en medio del pueblo, porque «Yo mismo soy tu parte y tu herencia».
23 Phinehas son of Eleazar is third in glory because of his zeal in the fear of the Lord, because he stoodfirm when the people revolted, with a staunch and courageous heart; and in this way made expiation for Israel.	23 Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar, fue el tercero en gloria, a causa de su celo en el temor del Señor, y porque se mantuvo firme frente a la rebelión del pueblo, con el generoso ardor de su espíritu: fue así como expió el pecado de Israel.
24 Hence a covenant of peace was sealed with him, making him governor of both sanctuary and people,and securing to him and his descendants the high priestly dignity for ever.	24 Por eso fue sellada en su favor una alianza de paz, que los hizo jefe del santuario y de su pueblo, de manera que a él y a su descendencia pertenece para siempre la dignidad de Sumo Sacerdote.
25 There was also a covenant with David son of Jesse, of the tribe of Judah, a royal succession byexclusively linear descent, but the succession of Aaron passes to al his descendants.	25 Hubo también una alianza con David, hijo de Jesé, de la tribu de Judá; pero esa herencia real pasa del padre a uno solo de sus hijos, mientras que la de Aarón pasa a toda su descendencia.
26 May God endow your hearts with wisdom to judge his people uprightly, so that the virtues of yourancestors may never fade, and their glory may pass to all their descendants!	26 Que el Señor ponga sabiduría en sus corazones para juzgar a su pueblo con justicia, a fin de que no desaparezca su felicidad ni su gloria por todas las generaciones.
