Wisdom 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 But the souls of the upright are in the hands of God, and no torment can touch them.	1 Las almas de los justos están en las manos de Dios, y no los afectará ningún tormento.
2 To the unenlightened, they appeared to die, their departure was regarded as disaster,	2 A los ojos de los insensatos parecían muertos; su partida de este mundo fue considerada una desgracia
3 their leaving us like annihilation; but they are at peace.	3 y su alejamiento de nosotros, una completa destrucción; pero ellos están en paz.
4 If, as it seemed to us, they suffered punishment, their hope was rich with immortality;	4 A los ojos de los hombres, ellos fueron castigados, pero su esperanza estaba colmada de inmortalidad.
5 slight was their correction, great wil their blessings be. God was putting them to the test and has provedthem worthy to be with him;	5 Por una leve corrección, recibirán grandes beneficios, porque Dios los puso a prueba y los encontró dignos de él.
6 he has tested them like gold in a furnace, and accepted them as a perfect burnt offering.	6 Los probó como oro en el crisol y los aceptó como un holocausto.
7 At their time of visitation, they wil shine out; as sparks run through the stubble, so will they.	7 Por eso brillarán cuando Dios los visite, y se extenderán como chispas por los rastrojos.
8 They wil judge nations, rule over peoples, and the Lord wil be their king for ever.	8 Juzgarán a las naciones y dominarán a los pueblos, y el Señor será su rey para siempre.
9 Those who trust in him wil understand the truth, those who are faithful wil live with him in love; forgrace and mercy await his holy ones, and he intervenes on behalf of his chosen.	9 Los que confían en él comprenderán la verdad y los que le son fieles permanecerán junto a él en el amor. Porque la gracia y la misericordia son para sus elegidos.
10 But the godless wil be duly punished for their reasoning, for having neglected the upright and desertedthe Lord.	10 Pero los impíos tendrán un castigo conforme a sus razonamientos, porque desdeñaron al justo y se apartaron del Señor.
11 Yes, wretched are they who scorn wisdom and discipline: their hope is void, their toil unavailing, theirachievements unprofitable;	11 El que desprecia la sabiduría y la enseñanza es un desdichado: ¡vana es su esperanza, inútiles sus esfuerzos, infructuosas sus obras!
12 their wives are reckless, their children depraved, their descendants accursed.	12 ¡Sus mujeres son insensatas, sus hijos perversos y su descendencia maldita!
13 Blessed the sterile woman if she be blameless, and has not known an unlawful bed, for she wil havefruit at the visitation of souls.	13 ¡Feliz, en cambio, la mujer estéril que no se ha manchado, la que no tuvo relaciones ilícitas! Ella dará frutos cuando Dios visite las almas.
14 Blessed, too, the eunuch whose hand commits no crime, and who harbours no resentment against theLord: a special favour will be granted to him for his loyalty, a most desirable portion in the temple of the Lord.	14 Feliz también el eunuco que no cometió ninguna iniquidad ni tuvo pensamientos perversos contra el Señor. por su fidelidad se le dará una gracia especial, una herencia muy deseable en el Templo del Señor.
15 For the fruit of honest labours is glorious, and the root of understanding does not decay.	15 Porque es glorioso el fruto de los trabajos honestos, e indefectible la raíz de la Sabiduría.
16 But the children of adulterers wil not reach maturity, the offspring of an unlawful bed wil disappear.	16 Pero los hijos de los adúlteros no llegarán a su madurez y la descendencia de una unión ilegítima desaparecerá.
17 Even if they live long, they wil count for nothing, their old age wil go unhonoured at the last;	17 Aunque vivan mucho tiempo, serán tenidos por nada, y al fin su vejez será deshonrosa;
18 while if they die early, they have neither hope nor comfort on the day of judgement,	18 si mueren pronto, no tendrán esperanza ni consuelo en el día del Discernimiento,
19 for the end of a race of evil-doers is harsh.	19 porque es penoso el fin de una raza injusta.
