Proverbs 27

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.	1 Non ti lodare per domani, perché non sai che partorisce l'oggi.
2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.	2 Ti lodi un altro, ma non la tua bocca, un estraneo, non le tue labbra!
3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.	3 Cosa grave è la pietra e un peso la sabbia, ma l'ira dello stolto pesa più di tutt'e due.
4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?	4 Il furore è crudele e l'ira è impetuosa: ma chi può sopportar la gelosia?
5 Better open reproof than feigned love.	5 Meglio una correzione aperta che un amore nascosto.
6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.	6 Son sincere le piaghe d'un amico, sono inganni i baci d'un nemico.
7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.	7 Gola sazia disprezza il miele, gola affamata trova dolce anche l'amaro.
8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.	8 Come il passero che erra lontano dal nido, così l'uomo che erra lontano dal suo paese.
9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.	9 L'olio e il profumo rallegrano il cuore e la dolcezza di un amico consola l'anima.
10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.	10 Non abbandonare il tuo amico e l'amico di tuo padre e non entrare in casa di tuo fratello nel giorno della tua tristezza. E' meglio un amico vicino che un fratello lontano.
11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.	11 Sii saggio, figlio mio, e rallegra il mio cuore, sicché possa rispondere a chi mi oltraggia.
12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.	12 Il prudente vede la sventura e si nasconde; i semplici ci passan vicino e ne pagano il fio.
13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.	13 Prendi la sua veste! L'ha impegnata per uno straniero! Per degli sconosciuti: tienla in pegno!
14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.	14 Chi benedice il suo prossimo ad alta voce fin dall'alba, gli verrà contato come maledizione.
15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;	15 Goccia continua in giorno di pioggia e donna litigiosa si assomigliano.
16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.	16 Chi vuol calmarla, vuol far tacere il vento e raccogliere l'olio con la destra.
17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.	17 Il ferro col ferro si lima e l'uomo affina le maniere del suo prossimo.
18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.	18 Chi ha cura del suo fico ne mangia i frutti; chi veglia sul suo padrone sarà onorato.
19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.	19 Come l'acqua rimanda il volto al volto, così il cuore rivela l'uomo all'uomo.
20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.	20 Inferi e abisso mai si saziano; gli occhi dell'uomo sono insaziabili.
21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.	21 Il crogiolo è per l'argento e il forno per l'oro; così per l'uomo è la sua reputazione.
22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.	22 Se tu pestassi lo stolto in un mortaio, in mezzo ai chicchi con un pestello, non staccheresti da lui la sua stoltezza.
23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;	23 Guarda bene allo stato del tuo gregge, fai attenzione agli armenti:
24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.	24 perché la ricchezza non è eterna e un diadema non dura all'infinito.
25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,	25 Spunta l'erba, appare il germe e si raccoglie il foraggio sopra i monti.
26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,	26 Ci siano agnelli per vestirti e montoni come prezzo di un campo,
27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.	27 abbondanza di latte delle capre come cibo per la tua casa e per la vita delle tue ancelle.
