Proverbs 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.	1 No te regocijes por el día de mañana, porque no sabes lo que deparará el día de hoy.
2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.	2 Que otro te alabe y no tu propia boca; un extraño, que no tus labios.
3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.	3 Pesada es la piedra y pesada la arena, la ira del necio es más pesada que ellas.
4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?	4 El furor es cruel, agua desbordada la cólera; mas ¿quién resistirá ante la envidia?
5 Better open reproof than feigned love.	5 Mejor es reprensión manifiesta que amor oculto.
6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.	6 Leales son las heridas del amigo, falsos los besos del enemigo.
7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.	7 Alma saciada pisotea la miel, al alma hambrienta, hasta lo amargo es dulce.
8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.	8 Como yerra el pájaro lejos de su nido, así yerra el hombre lejos de su lugar.
9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.	9 El aceite y el perfume alegran el corazón, la dulzura del amigo consuela el alma.
10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.	10 No abandones a tu amigo ni al amigo de tu padre; no entres en la casa de tu hermano el día de tu infortunio. Mejor es vecino próximo que hermano alejado.
11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.	11 Sé sabio, hijo mío, y alegra mi corazón; y podré responder al que me ultraja.
12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.	12 El hombre precavido ve el mal y se esconde, los simples pasan y reciben castigo.
13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.	13 Tómale su vestido, pues salió fiador de otro; tómale prenda por los extraños.
14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.	14 Al que ya de mañana a su prójimo bendice en alta voz, le será contado como una maldición.
15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;	15 Goteo incesante en día de lluvia y mujer chismosa, son iguales;
16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.	16 el que la retiene, retiene viento y aceite encuentra su derecha.
17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.	17 El hierro con hierro se aguza, y el hombre con su prójimo se afina.
18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.	18 El que vigila una higuera come de su fruto, el que guarda a su señor será honrado.
19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.	19 Como en el agua un rostro refleja otro rostro, así el corazón de un hombre refleja el de otro hombre.
20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.	20 Seol y Perdición son insaciables; tampoco se sacian los ojos del hombre.
21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.	21 Crisol para la plata, horno para el oro, el hombre vale según su reputación.
22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.	22 Aunque machaques al necio en el mortero, (entre el grano, con el pilón) no se apartará de él su necedad.
23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;	23 Conoce a fondo el estado de tu ganado, aplica tu corazón a tu rebaño;
24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.	24 porque no es eterna la riqueza, no se transmite una corona de edad en edad.
25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,	25 Cortada la hierba, aparecido el retoño, y apilado el heno de los montes,
26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,	26 ten corderos para poderte vestir, machos cabríos con que pagar un campo,
27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.	27 leche de cabras abundante para tu sustento, para alimentar a tu familia y mantener a tus criados.
