[Song of Ascents] How blessed are al who fear Yahweh, who walk in his ways!1 A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:
Your own labours wil yield you a living, happy and prosperous will you be.2 they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.
Your wife a fruitful vine in the inner places of your house. Your children round your table like shootsof an olive tree.3 The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.
Such are the blessings that fal on those who fear Yahweh.4 The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.
May Yahweh bless you from Zion! May you see Jerusalem prosper al the days of your life,5 Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.
and live to see your children's children! Peace to Israel!6 Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:
with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
