1 [Song of Ascents] I lift up my eyes to you who are enthroned in heaven.	1 Cantico dei gradi. Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi; dica adesso Israele: Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi,
2 Just as the eyes of slaves are on their masters' hand, or the eyes of a slave-girl on the hand of hermistress, so our eyes are on Yahweh our God, for him to take pity on us.	2 Allorché gli uomini si levaron su contro di noi, ci avrebber forse ingoiati vivi:
3 Have pity on us, Yahweh, have pity, for we have had our full share of scorn,	3 Allorché il loro furore infuriava contro di noi forse l'acqua ci avrebbe assorti.
4 more than our share of jeers from the complacent. (Scorn is for the proud.)	4 L'anima nostra ha valicato il torrente: forse l'anima nostra avrebbe dovuto valicare un' acqua insuperabile.
	5 Benedetto Dio, che non ci ha fatti preda de' loro denti.
	6 L'anima nostra è stata sciolta qual passera dal lacciuolo de' cacciatori:
	7 Il laccio è stato spezzato, e noi siamo stati liberati.
	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore, che fece il cielo, e la terra.
