1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say to him, "Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this:Let my people go and worship me.	1 - Disse ancora il Signore a Mosè: «Presentati al Faraone, e digli: - Così dice il Signore Dio degli ebrei: "Lascia andare il mio popolo, a farmi un sacrifizio.
2 If you refuse to let them go and detain them any longer,	2 Che se ancora ti rifiuti e lo trattieni,
3 look, the hand of Yahweh wil strike your livestock in the fields, horses, donkeys, camels, oxen andflocks with a deadly plague.	3 ecco, la mia mano si stenderà sui tuoi campi, ed una pestilenza gravissima colpirà cavalli, asini, cammelli, bovi e pecore ".
4 Yahweh wil discriminate between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt: nothing of whatbelongs to the Israelites will die.	4 Il Signore poi farà questa differenza maravigliosa tra ciò che è d'Israele e ciò che è degli Egiziani: che nulla affatto perirà di quel che appartiene a' figli di Israele».
5 Yahweh has fixed the time. Tomorrow, he has said, Yahweh will do this in the country." '	5 Ed il Signore ne stabilì il tempo, dicendo: «Domani adempirà il Signore questa sua parola sulla terra».
6 Next day Yahweh did this: al the Egyptians' livestock died, but nothing of the livestock owned by theIsraelites died.	6 Il giorno seguente fece il Signore quel che aveva detto: morirono tutti gli animali degli Egiziani, e di quelli dei figli d'Israele non ne morì alcuno.
7 Pharaoh had enquiries made, and found that of the livestock owned by the Israelites not a single beasthad died. But Pharaoh was obstinate and did not let the people go.	7 Il Faraone mandò a vedere, e niente era perito di ciò che apparteneva a Israele. Ma il cuore del Faraone s'indurò e non lasciò libero il popolo.
8 Yahweh then said to Moses and Aaron, 'Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and before Pharaoh's eyeslet Moses throw it in the air.	8 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè ed Aronne: «Empitevi le mani di cenere della fornace, e Mosè la getti verso il cielo innanzi al Faraone;
9 It will turn into fine dust over the whole of Egypt and produce boils breaking into sores on man andbeast throughout the whole of Egypt.'	9 quella polvere si spargerà su tutto l'Egitto, ed agli uomini ed agli animali, per tutto l'Egitto, verranno ulceri e tumori».
10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood in front of Pharaoh, and Moses threw it in the air, and onman and beast it brought out boils breaking into sores.	10 Presero dunque la cenere dalla fornace, si presentarono al Faraone, e Mosè la gettò verso il cielo. E vennero ulceri e gonfi tumori agli uomini ed animali.
11 And the magicians could not compete with Moses in the matter of the boils, for the magicians werecovered with boils like al the other Egyptians.	11 I maghi non potevano tenersi innanzi a Mosè, a causa delle ulceri che avevano, essi e tutti in Egitto.
12 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn and, as Yahweh had foretold to Moses, he did not listen to them.	12 Ma il Signore indurò il cuore del Faraone, e questi non ascoltò Mosè ed Aronne, come aveva detto il Signore a Mosè.
13 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh. Say to him, "Yahweh,God of the Hebrews, says this: Let my people go and worship me.	13 Poi disse il Signore a Mosè: «Alzati al mattino, va' innanzi al Faraone, e digli - Il Signore Dio degli ebrei ti dice: " Permetti al mio popolo d'andare a sacrificarmi;
14 For this time I am going to inflict al my plagues on you, on your officials and on your subjects, so thatyou wil know that there is no one like me in the whole world.	14 perchè io sto per flagellere con tutti i miei castighi il tuo cuore, i tuoi servi ed il tuo popolo, acciò tu sappia che non v'è il simile a me in tutta la terra.
15 Had I stretched out my hand to strike you and your subjects with pestilence, you would have beenswept from the earth.	15 Se infatti stenderò la mia mano percoterò con la peste te ed il tuo popolo, e sarai sterminato dalla terra.
16 But I have let you survive for this reason: to display my power to you and to have my name talked ofthroughout the world.	16 Io t'ho riserbato per mostrare in te la mia potenza, affinchè il mio nome sia celebrato in tutta la terra.
17 Since you take a high hand with my people, refusing to let them go,	17 Ritieni il mio popolo ancora, e non vuoi lasciarlo andare?
18 very wel , at about this time tomorrow, I shal cause so severe a hail to fal as was never known inEgypt from the day of its foundation until now.	18 Ecco, domani a quest'ora medesima, farò piovere una grandine così forte, come non è mai stata in Egitto, dal suo principio sino al giorno d'oggi.
19 So now send word to have your livestock and everything else you own in the fields put under cover.On man or beast, al that happen to be in the fields and are not brought indoors, the hail will fal and they wildie." '	19 Comanda dunque che sia messo al coperto il tuo bestiame, e tutto quel che hai pei campi; perché gli uomini e gli animali, e tutto quel che rimarrà fuori non ritirato dai campi, cadendogli addosso la grandine periranno " -».
20 Those of Pharaoh's officials who respected what Yahweh said, brought their slaves and livestockindoors,	20 Quelli dunque de' ministri del Faraone che temerono la parola del Signore, fecero riparare nelle case i propri servi ed armenti,
21 but those who did not take to heart what Yahweh said left their slaves and livestock in the fields.	21 chi invece non curò la parola del Signore, lasciò i suoi servi ed armenti nei campi.
22 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven so that it hails throughout thewhole of Egypt, on man and beast and on everything growing anywhere in Egypt.'	22 E disse il Signore a Mosè: «Stendi la mano verso il cielo, acciò cada la grandine in tutto l'Egitto, sugli uomini, sugli armenti, e su tutte le piante dei campi d'Egitto».
23 Moses stretched out his staff towards heaven, and Yahweh thundered and rained down hail. Lightningstruck the earth and Yahweh rained down hail on Egypt.	23 Mosè infatti stese la verga verso il cielo, ed il Signore rovesciò sulla terra tuoni e grandine e folgori guizzanti sulla terra; piovve il Signore la grandine sopra l'Egitto.
24 And so there was hail, and lightning accompanied the hail, very severe, such as had never beenknown anywhere in Egypt since it first became a nation.	24 Grandine e fuoco cadevano insieme mischiati; e fu di tal grandezza quale mai era apparsa in tutto l'Egitto, da che quella terra era abitata.
25 Al over Egypt the hail struck down everything in the fields, man and beast, and the hail beat downeverything growing in the fields and shattered al the trees in the fields.	25 La grandine percosse in tutto l' Egitto ogni cosa che si trovava nei campi, uomini ed animali; devastò tutte le piante della campagna, spezzò tutti gli alberi della regione.
26 The only place where there was no hail was in the Goshen region, where the Israelites lived.	26 Soltanto nella terra di Gessen, ove stavano i figli d'Israele, la grandine non cadde.
27 Pharaoh then sent for Moses and Aaron and said, 'This time, I have sinned. Yahweh is in the right; Iand my subjects are in the wrong.	27 Allora il Faraone mandò a chiamare Mosè ed Aronne, e disse loro: «Ho peccato ancora una volta; il Signore è giusto; io ed il mio popolo siamo empii.
28 Pray to Yahweh, for we cannot bear any more of this thunder and hail. I promise to let you go. Youneed stay no longer.'	28 Pregate il Signore che cessino i tuoni suoi spaventosi e la grandine, acciò io vi lasci andare, e voi non restiate più a lungo qui».
29 Moses said to him, 'The moment I leave the city I shal stretch out my hands to Yahweh. The thunderwil stop, and there wil be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth belongs to Yahweh.	29 Disse Mosè: «Uscito che sarò di città, stenderò le mie mani al Signore, e cesseranno i tuoni e la grandine, acciò tu vegga che la terra è del Signore.
30 But as for you and your officials, I know very wel that you stil have no respect for Yahweh God.'	30 Ma io so che tu ed i tuoi ministri non ancora temete il Signore Iddio».
31 The flax and the barley were ruined, since the barley was in the ear and the flax in bud,	31 Il lino e l'orzo furono sperperati, perchè l'orzo era verde, ed il lino in fiore;
32 but the wheat and spelt were not destroyed, being late crops.	32 ma il grano ed il farro non furon danneggiati, perchè erano ancora indietro.
33 Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He stretched out his hands to Yahweh and the thunderand hail ceased and the rain stopped pouring down on the earth.	33 Uscito Mosè dal Faraone e dalla città, levò le mani al Signore; cessarono i tuoni e la grandine, e non cadde più goccia d'acqua sulla terra.
34 When Pharaoh saw that rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he relapsed into sin,	34 Ma quando il Faraone vide esser cessata la pioggia, la grandine ed i tuoni, accrebbe il proprio peccato;
35 and he and his officials became obstinate again. Pharaoh was stubborn and, as Yahweh had foretoldthrough Moses, refused to let the Israelites go.	35 il cuor suo e de' suoi ministri s'aggravò e s'indurò sempre più, e non lasciò andare i figli d'Israele come il Signore gli aveva comandato per mezzo di Mosè.
