1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say to him, "Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this:Let my people go and worship me.	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Va trouver le Pharaon et dis-lui de la part de Yahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse partir mon peuple pour qu’il me serve!
2 If you refuse to let them go and detain them any longer,	2 Si tu refuses de le renvoyer, si tu le retiens encore,
3 look, the hand of Yahweh wil strike your livestock in the fields, horses, donkeys, camels, oxen andflocks with a deadly plague.	3 Yahvé frappera tes troupeaux qui sont dans la campagne, les chevaux, les ânes, les chameaux, le gros et le petit bétail. Ce sera une peste terrible.
4 Yahweh wil discriminate between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt: nothing of whatbelongs to the Israelites will die.	4 Mais Yahvé fera la différence entre le troupeau d’Israël et le troupeau d’Égypte. Pas une bête des Israélites ne crèvera.”
5 Yahweh has fixed the time. Tomorrow, he has said, Yahweh will do this in the country." '	5 Yahvé fixa la date, il dit: “Demain, Yahvé fera cela dans tout le pays.”
6 Next day Yahweh did this: al the Egyptians' livestock died, but nothing of the livestock owned by theIsraelites died.	6 Et dès le lendemain Yahvé fit ce qu’il avait dit: tous les troupeaux d’Égypte crevèrent, mais pas une bête ne creva dans les troupeaux des Israélites.
7 Pharaoh had enquiries made, and found that of the livestock owned by the Israelites not a single beasthad died. But Pharaoh was obstinate and did not let the people go.	7 Le Pharaon s’informa: pas une bête n’avait crevé dans les troupeaux des Israélites. Mais le Pharaon resta dans son entêtement et il ne laissa pas partir le peuple.
8 Yahweh then said to Moses and Aaron, 'Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and before Pharaoh's eyeslet Moses throw it in the air.	8 Alors, Dieu dit à Moïse et à Aaron: “Remplissez vos deux mains de cendre fine. Moïse la lancera vers le ciel sous les yeux du Pharaon,
9 It will turn into fine dust over the whole of Egypt and produce boils breaking into sores on man andbeast throughout the whole of Egypt.'	9 et dans toute l’Égypte ce sera de la poudre qui se déposera sur les hommes et sur les bêtes: dans toute l’Égypte elle leur donnera des ulcères et des boutons.”
10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood in front of Pharaoh, and Moses threw it in the air, and onman and beast it brought out boils breaking into sores.	10 Ils prirent donc de la cendre fine et se présentèrent devant le Pharaon. Moïse la lança vers le ciel et elle se changea en ulcères et en boutons sur les hommes et sur les bêtes.
11 And the magicians could not compete with Moses in the matter of the boils, for the magicians werecovered with boils like al the other Egyptians.	11 Cette fois les magiciens ne purent rester aux côtés de Moïse à cause de ce fléau, car ils avaient leurs ulcères comme tous les Égyptiens.
12 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn and, as Yahweh had foretold to Moses, he did not listen to them.	12 Mais Dieu endurcit le cœur du Pharaon, il ne voulut pas écouter: Yahvé l’avait bien dit à Moïse.
13 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh. Say to him, "Yahweh,God of the Hebrews, says this: Let my people go and worship me.	13 Yahvé dit encore à Moïse: “Lève-toi de bon matin et présente-toi devant le Pharaon. Tu lui diras de la part de Yahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse aller mon peuple pour qu’il me serve!
14 For this time I am going to inflict al my plagues on you, on your officials and on your subjects, so thatyou wil know that there is no one like me in the whole world.	14 Cette fois j’envoie tous mes fléaux contre toi, tes serviteurs et ton peuple, et tu sauras ainsi qu’il n’y a personne comme moi sur toute la terre.
15 Had I stretched out my hand to strike you and your subjects with pestilence, you would have beenswept from the earth.	15 “J’aurais pu dès le début montrer toute ma puissance et te frapper toi et ton peuple par la peste, et tu aurais disparu de la terre.
16 But I have let you survive for this reason: to display my power to you and to have my name talked ofthroughout the world.	16 Mais voici pourquoi je t’ai laissé en vie: je veux te faire voir ma puissance et que mon Nom soit connu sur toute la terre.
17 Since you take a high hand with my people, refusing to let them go,	17 Tu résistes encore et tu ne laisses pas partir mon peuple?
18 very wel , at about this time tomorrow, I shal cause so severe a hail to fal as was never known inEgypt from the day of its foundation until now.	18 Eh bien, demain à cette heure, je ferai tomber une très forte grêle comme il n’y en a pas eu de pareille depuis la fondation de l’Égypte jusqu’à ce jour.
19 So now send word to have your livestock and everything else you own in the fields put under cover.On man or beast, al that happen to be in the fields and are not brought indoors, the hail will fal and they wildie." '	19 Ordonne donc de mettre à l’abri dès maintenant ton bétail et tout ce qui t’appartient dans les champs, car tous les hommes et toutes les bêtes qui seront dans les champs au lieu d’être à l’abri à la maison, seront frappés par la grêle et mourront.”
20 Those of Pharaoh's officials who respected what Yahweh said, brought their slaves and livestockindoors,	20 Ceux des serviteurs du Pharaon qui craignaient Yahvé se réfugièrent dans les maisons avec leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux.
21 but those who did not take to heart what Yahweh said left their slaves and livestock in the fields.	21 Mais ceux qui se moquaient de la parole de Yahvé laissèrent leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux dans les champs.
22 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven so that it hails throughout thewhole of Egypt, on man and beast and on everything growing anywhere in Egypt.'	22 Yahvé dit alors à Moïse: “Étends ta main vers le ciel! Que la grêle tombe sur toute l’Égypte, sur les hommes, sur les bêtes et sur tout ce qui pousse dans les champs en terre d’Égypte.”
23 Moses stretched out his staff towards heaven, and Yahweh thundered and rained down hail. Lightningstruck the earth and Yahweh rained down hail on Egypt.	23 Moïse étendit son bâton vers le ciel, et Yahvé fit éclater les tonnerres et pleuvoir la grêle en même temps que la foudre tombait sur la terre. Yahvé fit tomber la grêle sur tout le pays d’Égypte.
24 And so there was hail, and lightning accompanied the hail, very severe, such as had never beenknown anywhere in Egypt since it first became a nation.	24 Il y eut de la grêle avec des éclairs de feu qui jaillissaient du milieu de la grêle. On n’avait rien vu de semblable dans tout le pays depuis la fondation de l’Égypte.
25 Al over Egypt the hail struck down everything in the fields, man and beast, and the hail beat downeverything growing in the fields and shattered al the trees in the fields.	25 Dans tout le pays d’Égypte, la grêle frappa tous ceux qui étaient dans les champs, les gens comme les bêtes. La grêle frappa aussi tout ce qui poussait dans les champs et brisa même les arbres des champs.
26 The only place where there was no hail was in the Goshen region, where the Israelites lived.	26 Cependant il n’y eut pas de grêle dans le pays de Gossen, là où se trouvaient les Israélites.
27 Pharaoh then sent for Moses and Aaron and said, 'This time, I have sinned. Yahweh is in the right; Iand my subjects are in the wrong.	27 Le Pharaon fit alors appeler Moïse et Aaron, il leur dit: “Cette fois, j’ai péché! C’est Yahvé qui est juste, moi et mon peuple nous sommes coupables!
28 Pray to Yahweh, for we cannot bear any more of this thunder and hail. I promise to let you go. Youneed stay no longer.'	28 Priez Yahvé pour que s’arrêtent ces tonnerres incroyables et cette grêle, et je ne vous retiendrai plus ici, je vous laisserai partir.”
29 Moses said to him, 'The moment I leave the city I shal stretch out my hands to Yahweh. The thunderwil stop, and there wil be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth belongs to Yahweh.	29 Moïse répondit: “Aussitôt sorti de la ville, je tendrai les mains vers Yahvé: les tonnerres s’arrêteront, et il n’y aura plus de grêle. Ainsi tu sauras que la terre est à Yahvé.
30 But as for you and your officials, I know very wel that you stil have no respect for Yahweh God.'	30 Mais je sais bien que toi et tes serviteurs, vous ne craindrez encore pas Yahvé Dieu.”
31 The flax and the barley were ruined, since the barley was in the ear and the flax in bud,	31 Le lin et l’orge avaient été frappés, car l’orge était en épi, et le lin en fleur.
32 but the wheat and spelt were not destroyed, being late crops.	32 Mais le blé et le seigle n’avaient pas été frappés, car ils sont tardifs.
33 Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He stretched out his hands to Yahweh and the thunderand hail ceased and the rain stopped pouring down on the earth.	33 Aussitôt sorti de chez le Pharaon et hors de la ville, Moïse tendit les mains vers Yahvé: les tonnerres et la grêle s’arrêtèrent, et la pluie cessa de tomber sur la terre.
34 When Pharaoh saw that rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he relapsed into sin,	34 Le Pharaon vit que la pluie, la grêle et les tonnerres s’étaient arrêtés. Alors il recommença à pécher et à s’entêter, lui et ses serviteurs.
35 and he and his officials became obstinate again. Pharaoh was stubborn and, as Yahweh had foretoldthrough Moses, refused to let the Israelites go.	35 Le Pharaon s’entêta et refusa de laisser partir les Israélites: Yahvé l’avait bien dit par la bouche de Moïse.
