Exodus 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your hand with your staff, over the rivers, thecanals and the marshland, and bring the frogs up over the land of Egypt." '	1 Luego el Señor dijo a Moisés: «Da esta orden a Aarón: «Extiende tu mano y tu bastón sobre los ríos, los canales y los pantanos, para que las ranas invadan el territorio de Egipto».
2 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the landof Egypt.	2 Aarón extendió su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y las ranas subieron hasta cubrir el país.
3 But by their spel s the magicians did the same, bringing frogs over the land of Egypt.	3 Pero los magos de Egipto, valiéndose de sus artes secretas, hicieron otro tanto y atrajeron una invasión de ranas sobre el territorio de Egipto.
4 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Entreat Yahweh to take the frogs away from meand my subjects, and I promise to let the people go and sacrifice to Yahweh.'	4 El Faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón y les dijo: «Rueguen al Señor que aleje las ranas de mi y de mis súbditos, y yo me comprometo a dejar que el pueblo vaya a ofrecer sacrificios al Señor».
5 Moses said to Pharaoh, 'You are the one to gain by it: when would you like me to pray for you, yourofficials and your subjects, so as to rid you and your houses of the frogs so that they wil be left only in theRiver?'	5 Moisés respondió al Faraón: «Dígnate indicarme el momento en que debo rogar por ti, por tus servidores y por tu pueblo para que las ranas se aparten de ti y de tus casas, y queden solamente en el Nilo».
6 'Tomorrow,' he said. Moses said, 'It shal be as you say, so that you wil know that there is no one likeYahweh our God.	6 «Mañana», dijo el Faraón. Entonces Moisés añadió: «Que suceda conforme a tus palabras. Así sabrás que no hay nadie como el Señor, nuestro Dios.
7 The frogs wil leave you, your houses, your officials and your subjects and wil be left only in the River.'	7 Las ranas se apartarán de ti, de tus casas, de tus servidores y de tu pueblo, y quedarán únicamente en el Nilo».
8 Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh's presence, and Moses pleaded with Yahweh about the frogs which hehad inflicted on Pharaoh.	8 Cuando Moisés y Aarón se separaron del Faraón, Moisés rogó al Señor para que alejara las ranas con que había castigado al Faraón,
9 Yahweh did as Moses asked, and in house and courtyard and field the frogs died.	9 y el Señor accedió el pedido de Moisés. Las ranas quedaron muertas en las casas, en los patios y en los campos.
10 They piled them up in heaps and the country stank.	10 Las juntaron en grandes montones, y se extendió por todas partes un olor pestilente.
11 But once Pharaoh saw that there had been a respite, he became obstinate and, as Yahweh hadforetold, refused to listen to them.	11 Pero el Faraón, al ver que la situación mejoraba, se obstinó y no escuchó a Moisés y a Aarón, como el Señor lo había predicho.
12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, andit wil turn into mosquitoes throughout the whole of Egypt." '	12 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Da esta orden a Aarón: «Extiende tu bastón y golpea el polvo del suelo, para que se transforme en mosquitos a lo largo de todo Egipto».
13 Aaron stretched out his hand, with his staff, and struck the dust of the earth, and there weremosquitoes on man and beast; al the dust of the earth turned into mosquitoes throughout the whole of Egypt.	13 Aarón extendió la mano empuñando su bastón, golpeó el polvo del suelo, y en seguida, nubes de mosquitos se lanzaron contra la gente y los animales. Todo el polvo del suelo se transformó en mosquitos, a lo largo de todo el país.
14 By their spel s the magicians tried to produce mosquitoes in the same way but failed, and there weremosquitoes on man and beast.	14 Los magos intentaron producir mosquitos, valiéndose de sus artes secretas, pero no lo consiguieron. Los mosquitos atacaron a los hombres y animales.
15 So the magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God.' But Pharaoh was obstinate and, asYahweh had foretold, refused to listen to them.	15 Entonces dijeron al Faraón: «Aquí está el dedo de Dios» A pesar de esto, el Faraón persistió en su obstinación y no los escuchó, como el Señor había predicho.
16 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he makes his wayto the water. Say to him, "Yahweh says this: Let my people go and worship me.	16 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Mañana temprano, cuando el Faraón salga para ir al río, preséntate ante él y dile: «Así habla el Señor: Deja que mi pueblo vaya a rendirme culto.
17 But if you wil not let my people go, I shal send horseflies on you, on your officials, your subjects andyour houses. The Egyptians' houses wil swarm with horseflies, and so wil the very ground they stand on.	17 Porque si te niegas a dejarlo partir, yo enviaré contra ti, contra tus servidores, tu pueblo y tus casas, una invasión de tábanos. Las casas de los egipcios y el suelo donde ellos habitan quedarán atestados de tábanos.
18 But I shal exempt the region of Goshen, where my people are living, that day; there will be nohorseflies there, so that you will know that I am Yahweh, here in this country.	18 Pero al mismo tiempo, haré una excepción con la región de Gosen, donde reside mi pueblo. Allí no habrá tábanos, para que sepas que yo, el Señor, estoy en medio de este país.
19 I shal make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign wil take place tomorrow." '	19 Yo haré una distinción entre mi pueblo y el tuyo. Este signo sucederá mañana».
20 Yahweh did this, and great swarms of horseflies found their way into Pharaoh's palace, into hisofficials' houses and al over Egypt; the country was ruined by the horseflies.	20 Así lo hizo el Señor, y una gran cantidad de tábanos se precipitó sobre el palacio del Faraón y sobre las casas de sus servidores; y todo el territorio de Egipto fue devastado por los tábanos.
21 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Go and sacrifice to your God, inside thecountry.'	21 Entonces el Faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: «Pueden ir a ofrecer sacrificios a su Dios, pero que sea dentro del país».
22 'That would never do,' Moses said, 'since what we sacrifice to Yahweh our God is outrageous to theEgyptians. If the Egyptians see us offering sacrifices which outrage them, won't they stone us?	22 Moisés respondió: «Eso no puede ser. Porque los sacrificios que nosotros ofreceremos al Señor, nuestro Dios, son una abominación para los egipcios. Y si nos ven ofrecer sacrificios que ellos consideran abominables, nos matarán a pedradas.
23 We shal make a three-days' journey into the desert to sacrifice to Yahweh our God, as he has orderedus.'	23 Haremos una marcha de tres días por el desierto, y allí ofreceremos sacrificios al Señor, nuestro Dios, conforme a lo que él nos diga».
24 Pharaoh said, 'I wil let you go and sacrifice to Yahweh your God in the desert, provided you do not govery far. Pray for me.'	24 El Faraón dijo: «Les permitiré que vayan a ofrecer sacrificios al Señor, su Dios, en el desierto, con tal de que no se alejen demasiado. De paso, rueguen por mí.»
25 'The moment I leave you,' Moses said, 'I shal pray to Yahweh. Tomorrow morning the horseflies willeave Pharaoh, his officials and his subjects. But Pharaoh must stop trifling with us by not al owing the people togo and sacrifice to Yahweh.'	25 «En cuanto salga, respondió Moisés, rogaré al Señor, y mañana los tábanos se apartarán de ti, de tus servidores y de tu pueblo; pero deja de una vez por todas de burlarte de nosotros, y no impidas que el pueblo vaya a ofrecer sacrificios al Señor.
26 Moses then left Pharaoh's presence and prayed to Yahweh,	26 Luego Moisés se alejó de la presencia del Faraón, y oró al Señor.
27 and Yahweh did as Moses asked; the horseflies left Pharaoh, his officials and his subjects; not oneremained.	27 El Señor hizo lo que Moisés le había pedido, y los tábanos se apartaron del Faraón, de sus servidores y de su pueblo. No quedó ni siquiera uno.
28 But Pharaoh became obstinate this time too and did not let the people go.	28 Pero a pesar de eso, el Faraón se obstinó una vez más, y no dejó partir al pueblo.
