Exodus 7

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Look, I have made you as a god for Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron is tobe your prophet.	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Vois, j'ai fait de toi un dieu pour Pharaon, et Aaron, ton frère, sera ton prophète.
2 You must say whatever I command you, and your brother Aaron wil repeat to Pharaoh that he is to letthe Israelites leave his country.	2 Toi, tu lui diras tout ce que je t'ordonnerai, et Aaron, ton frère, le répétera à Pharaon pour qu'il laisseles Israélites partir de son pays.
3 But I myself shal make Pharaoh stubborn and shall perform many a sign and wonder in Egypt.	3 Pour moi, j'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon et je multiplierai mes signes et mes prodiges dans le paysd'Egypte.
4 Since Pharaoh wil not listen to you, I shal lay my hand on Egypt and with great acts of judgement leadmy armies, my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.	4 Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, alors je porterai la main sur l'Egypte et je ferai sortir mes armées, monpeuple, les Israélites, du pays d'Egypte, avec de grands jugements.
5 And the Egyptians wil know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand against the Egyptians andlead the Israelites out of their country.'	5 Ils sauront, les Egyptiens, que je suis Yahvé, quand j'étendrai ma main contre les Egyptiens et que jeferai sortir de chez eux les Israélites."
6 Moses and Aaron did exactly as Yahweh had ordered.	6 Moïse et Aaron firent comme Yahvé leur avait ordonné.
7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three, when they spoke to Pharaoh.	7 Moïse était âgé de 80 ans et Aaron de 83 ans lorsqu'ils parlèrent à Pharaon.
8 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,	8 Yahvé dit à Moïse et à Aaron:
9 'If Pharaoh says to you, "Display some marvel," you must say to Aaron, "Take your staff and throw itdown in front of Pharaoh, and let it turn into a serpent!" '	9 "Si Pharaon vous dit d'accomplir un prodige, tu diras à Aaron: Prends ton bâton, jette-le devantPharaon, et qu'il se change en serpent."
10 Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as Yahweh had ordered. Aaron threw down his staff infront of Pharaoh and his officials, and it turned into a serpent.	10 Moïse et Aaron allèrent trouver Pharaon et firent comme l'avait ordonné Yahvé. Aaron jeta sonbâton devant Pharaon et ses serviteurs, et il se changea en serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh in his turn called for the sages and sorcerers, and by their spells the magicians of Egyptdid the same.	11 Pharaon à son tour convoqua les sages et les enchanteurs, et, avec leurs sortilèges, les magiciensd'Egypte en firent autant.
12 Each threw his staff down and these turned into serpents. But Aaron's staff swal owed up theirs.	12 Ils jetèrent chacun son bâton qui se changea en serpent, mais le bâton d'Aaron engloutit leursbâtons.
13 Pharaoh, however, remained obstinate and, as Yahweh had foretold, refused to listen to Moses andAaron.	13 Cependant le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit et il ne les écouta pas, comme l'avait prédit Yahvé.
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Pharaoh is adamant. He refuses to let the people go.	14 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Le coeur de Pharaon s'est appesanti et il a refusé de laisser partir le peuple.
15 Go to Pharaoh tomorrow morning as he makes his way to the water, confront him on the river bankand in your hand take the staff that turned into a snake.	15 Va, demain matin, trouver Pharaon, à l'heure où il se rend au bord de l'eau et tiens-toi à l'attendre surla rive du Fleuve. Tu prendras en main le bâton qui s'est changé en serpent.
16 Say to him, "Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, sent me to say: Let my people go and worship in thedesert. Up til now, you have refused to listen.	16 Tu lui diras: Yahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux, m'a envoyé vers toi pour te dire: Laisse partir mon peuple,qu'il me serve dans le désert. Jusqu'à présent tu n'as pas écouté.
17 This is what Yahweh says: You wil know that I am Yahweh by this: with the staff that is in my hand Ishall strike the waters of the River and they wil turn to blood.	17 Ainsi parle Yahvé: En ceci tu sauras que je suis Yahvé. Du bâton que j'ai en main, je vais frapper leseaux du Fleuve et elles se changeront en sang.
18 The fish in the river wil die, and the River wil stink, and the Egyptians will not be able to drink the riverwater." '	18 Les poissons du Fleuve crèveront, le Fleuve s'empuantira, et les Egyptiens ne pourront plus boirel'eau du Fleuve."
19 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters ofEgypt -- over their rivers and canals, their marshland, and all their reservoirs -- and they wil turn to blood. Therewil be blood throughout the whole of Egypt, even in sticks and stones." '	19 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Dis à Aaron: Prends ton bâton et étends la main sur les eaux d'Egypte -- sur sesfleuves et sur ses canaux, sur ses marais et sur tous ses réservoirs d'eau -- et elles se changeront en sang, et toutle pays d'Egypte sera plein de sang, même les arbres et les pierres."
20 Moses and Aaron did as Yahweh ordered. He raised his staff and struck the waters of the River, withPharaoh and his officials looking on, and al the water in the River turned to blood.	20 Moïse et Aaron firent comme l'avait ordonné Yahvé. Il leva son bâton et il frappa les eaux qui sontdans le Fleuve aux yeux de Pharaon et de ses serviteurs, et toutes les eaux qui sont dans le Fleuve se changèrenten sang.
21 The fish in the River died, and the River stank; and the Egyptians could no longer drink the Riverwater. Throughout the whole of Egypt there was blood.	21 Les poissons du Fleuve crevèrent et le Fleuve s'empuantit; et les Egyptiens ne purent plus boire l'eaudu Fleuve; il y eut du sang dans tout le pays d'Egypte.
22 But by their spel s the magicians of Egypt did the same; Pharaoh remained obstinate and, as Yahwehhad foretold, refused to listen to Moses and Aaron.	22 Mais les magiciens d'Egypte avec leurs sortilèges en firent autant; le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit etil ne les écouta pas, comme l'avait prédit Yahvé.
23 Pharaoh turned away and went back into his palace, taking no notice even of this.	23 Pharaon s'en retourna et rentra dans sa maison sans même prêter attention à cela.
24 And the Egyptians al dug holes along the river-bank in search of drinking water, since they could notdrink the River water.	24 Tous les Egyptiens firent des sondages aux abords du Fleuve en quête d'eau potable, car ils nepouvaient boire l'eau du Fleuve.
25 After Yahweh struck the River, seven days went by.	25 Sept jours s'écoulèrent après que Yahvé eut frappé le Fleuve.
26 Then Yahweh said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say to him, "Yahweh says this: Let my people goand worship me.	26 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Va trouver Pharaon et dis-lui: Ainsi parle Yahvé: Laisse partir mon peuple,qu'il me serve.
27 If you refuse to let them go, I shal strike your whole territory with frogs.	27 Si tu refuses, toi, de le laisser partir, moi je vais infester de grenouilles tout ton territoire.
28 The River wil swarm with frogs; they wil make their way into your palace, into your bedroom, ontoyour bed, into the houses of your officials and subjects, into your ovens, into your kneading bowls.	28 Le Fleuve grouillera de grenouilles, elles monteront et entreront dans ta maison, dans la chambre oùtu couches, sur ton lit, dans les maisons de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple, dans tes fours et dans tes huches.
29 The frogs wil actual y clamber onto you, onto your subjects and onto all your officials." '	29 Les grenouilles grimperont même sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur tous tes serviteurs."
