1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Look, I have made you as a god for Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron is tobe your prophet.	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Regarde: j’ai voulu que tu sois comme un Dieu face au Pharaon, et ton frère Aaron sera ton prophète.
2 You must say whatever I command you, and your brother Aaron wil repeat to Pharaoh that he is to letthe Israelites leave his country.	2 Tu diras tout ce que je te commanderai, et Aaron, ton frère, parlera au Pharaon pour qu’il renvoie les Israélites de son pays.
3 But I myself shal make Pharaoh stubborn and shall perform many a sign and wonder in Egypt.	3 Mais moi, je ferai que le Pharaon s’entête, car je veux multiplier en Égypte mes signes et mes prodiges.
4 Since Pharaoh wil not listen to you, I shal lay my hand on Egypt and with great acts of judgement leadmy armies, my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.	4 Comme le Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, je frapperai l’Égypte et j’en ferai sortir mes armées, mon peuple, les Israélites, grâce à des coups redoutables.
5 And the Egyptians wil know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand against the Egyptians andlead the Israelites out of their country.'	5 Ainsi les Égyptiens sauront que je suis Yahvé, quand je lèverai la main contre eux et que je ferai sortir du milieu d’eux les Israélites.”
6 Moses and Aaron did exactly as Yahweh had ordered.	6 Moïse et Aaron firent ce que Yahvé leur avait ordonné.
7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three, when they spoke to Pharaoh.	7 Moïse avait 80 ans et Aaron en avait 83, lorsqu’ils se présentèrent devant le Pharaon.
8 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,	8 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron:
9 'If Pharaoh says to you, "Display some marvel," you must say to Aaron, "Take your staff and throw itdown in front of Pharaoh, and let it turn into a serpent!" '	9 “Lorsque le Pharaon vous dira: Faites un prodige pour confirmer vos paroles! Tu diras à Aaron de prendre son bâton et de le jeter devant le Pharaon pour qu’il devienne un serpent.”
10 Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as Yahweh had ordered. Aaron threw down his staff infront of Pharaoh and his officials, and it turned into a serpent.	10 Moïse et Aaron se présentèrent donc devant le Pharaon. Ils firent comme Yahvé le leur avait ordonné. Aaron jeta son bâton devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs et il se transforma en serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh in his turn called for the sages and sorcerers, and by their spells the magicians of Egyptdid the same.	11 Le Pharaon réunit alors les sages avec les sorciers, et les magiciens d’Égypte en firent autant avec leurs sortilèges.
12 Each threw his staff down and these turned into serpents. But Aaron's staff swal owed up theirs.	12 Chacun jeta son bâton et les bâtons se transformèrent en serpents, mais celui d’Aaron avala ceux des magiciens.
13 Pharaoh, however, remained obstinate and, as Yahweh had foretold, refused to listen to Moses andAaron.	13 Pourtant le Pharaon s’entêta et ne voulut pas écouter: Yahvé l’avait bien dit.
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Pharaoh is adamant. He refuses to let the people go.	14 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Le Pharaon s’entête, il a refusé de laisser partir le peuple.
15 Go to Pharaoh tomorrow morning as he makes his way to the water, confront him on the river bankand in your hand take the staff that turned into a snake.	15 Tu iras donc à la rencontre du Pharaon dès le matin, lorsqu’il ira au fleuve. Tu te tiendras devant lui sur la rive du Nil et tu auras en main le bâton qui s’est changé en serpent.
16 Say to him, "Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, sent me to say: Let my people go and worship in thedesert. Up til now, you have refused to listen.	16 “Tu lui diras: Yahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux, m’a envoyé vers toi pour te dire: ‘Laisse partir mon peuple pour qu’il me serve dans le désert’, car jusqu’à présent tu n’as pas écouté.
17 This is what Yahweh says: You wil know that I am Yahweh by this: with the staff that is in my hand Ishall strike the waters of the River and they wil turn to blood.	17 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: ‘Tu sauras que je suis Yahvé lorsque je frapperai les eaux du Nil avec le bâton que j’ai en main, car alors elles se changeront en sang.
18 The fish in the river wil die, and the River wil stink, and the Egyptians will not be able to drink the riverwater." '	18 Les poissons du Nil crèveront, les eaux du Nil deviendront si malsaines que les Égyptiens ne pourront plus les boire.’ ”
19 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Say to Aaron, "Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters ofEgypt -- over their rivers and canals, their marshland, and all their reservoirs -- and they wil turn to blood. Therewil be blood throughout the whole of Egypt, even in sticks and stones." '	19 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Tu diras à Aaron: Prends ton bâton et étends la main vers les eaux d’Égypte, étends ta main sur les rivières, les canaux, les étangs et sur toutes les mares. Que l’eau devienne du sang! Qu’il y ait du sang dans toute l’Égypte, jusque sur les arbres et sur les pierres!”
20 Moses and Aaron did as Yahweh ordered. He raised his staff and struck the waters of the River, withPharaoh and his officials looking on, and al the water in the River turned to blood.	20 Moïse et Aaron firent ce que Yahvé leur avait commandé. Aaron leva son bâton et frappa les eaux du Nil sous les yeux du Pharaon et de ses serviteurs, et toutes les eaux du Nil se changèrent en sang.
21 The fish in the River died, and the River stank; and the Egyptians could no longer drink the Riverwater. Throughout the whole of Egypt there was blood.	21 Les poissons qui étaient dans le Nil crevèrent et les eaux du Nil devinrent si malsaines que les Égyptiens ne pouvaient plus en boire. Il y eut du sang dans toute l’Égypte.
22 But by their spel s the magicians of Egypt did the same; Pharaoh remained obstinate and, as Yahwehhad foretold, refused to listen to Moses and Aaron.	22 Les magiciens d’Égypte firent de même avec leurs sortilèges et le Pharaon s’entêta et ne voulut pas écouter: Yahvé l’avait bien prédit.
23 Pharaoh turned away and went back into his palace, taking no notice even of this.	23 Pharaon s’en retourna et rentra chez lui comme s’il n’y avait rien eu,
24 And the Egyptians al dug holes along the river-bank in search of drinking water, since they could notdrink the River water.	24 mais tous les Égyptiens durent creuser des puits près du fleuve pour pouvoir boire, car ils ne pouvaient plus boire l’eau du fleuve.
25 After Yahweh struck the River, seven days went by.	25 Cela faisait déjà sept jours que Yahvé avait frappé le Nil.
26 Then Yahweh said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh and say to him, "Yahweh says this: Let my people goand worship me.	26 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Va trouver le Pharaon et dis lui de la part de Yahvé: Laisse partir mon peuple pour qu’il me serve:
27 If you refuse to let them go, I shal strike your whole territory with frogs.	27 si tu refuses de le laisser partir, je couvrirai tout ton pays de grenouilles.
28 The River wil swarm with frogs; they wil make their way into your palace, into your bedroom, ontoyour bed, into the houses of your officials and subjects, into your ovens, into your kneading bowls.	28 Il y aura tellement de grenouilles dans le Nil, qu’elles monteront, entreront dans ta maison, dans ta chambre à coucher et sur ton lit, dans les maisons de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple, dans les fours et dans les greniers.
29 The frogs wil actual y clamber onto you, onto your subjects and onto all your officials." '	29 Les grenouilles viendront jusque sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur tous tes serviteurs.”
