Nehemiah 12

1 These are the priests and the Levites who came back with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua:	1 ואלה הכהנים והלוים אשר עלו עם זרבבל בן שאלתיאל וישוע שריה ירמיה עזרא
2 Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,	2 אמריה מלוך חטוש
3 Amariah, Mal uch, Hattush, Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,	3 שכניה רחם מרמת
4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,	4 עדוא גנתוי אביה
5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,	5 מימין מעדיה בלגה
6 Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah,	6 שמעיה ויויריב ידעיה
7 Sal u, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah -- these were the heads of the priests and their kinsmen in the days ofJeshua.	7 סלו עמוק חלקיה ידעיה אלה ראשי הכהנים ואחיהם בימי ישוע
8 The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah -- this last, with his brothers,was in charge of the songs of praise,	8 והלוים ישוע בנוי קדמיאל שרביה יהודה מתניה על הידות הוא ואחיו
9 while Bakbukiah and Unno, their col eagues, formed the alternate choir to theirs.	9 ובקבקיה וענו אחיהם לנגדם למשמרות
10 Jeshua fathered Joiakim, Joiakim fathered Eliashib, Eliashib fathered Joiada,	10 וישוע הוליד את יויקים ויויקים הוליד את אלישיב ואלישיב את יוידע
11 Joiada fathered Johanan, and Johanan fathered Jaddua.	11 ויוידע הוליד את יונתן ויונתן הוליד את ידוע
12 In the days of Joiakim the heads of the priestly families were: family of Seraiah, Meraiah; ofJeremiah, Hananiah;	12 ובימי יויקים היו כהנים ראשי האבות לשריה מריה לירמיה חנניה
13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;	13 לעזרא משלם לאמריה יהוחנן
14 of Mal uch, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;	14 למלוכי יונתן לשבניה יוסף
15 of Harim, Adna; of Meremoth, Helkai;	15 לחרם עדנא למריות חלקי
16 of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshul am;	16 לעדיא זכריה לגנתון משלם
17 of Abijah, Zichri; of Minjamin, . . .; of Moadiah, Piltai;	17 לאביה זכרי למנימין למועדיה פלטי
18 of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;	18 לבלגה שמוע לשמעיה יהונתן
19 and of Jojarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;	19 וליויריב מתני לידעיה עזי
20 of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;	20 לסלי קלי לעמוק עבר
21 of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.	21 לחלקיה חשביה לידעיה נתנאל
22 In the time of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan and Jaddua, the heads of the families of priests wereregistered in the Book of Chronicles, up to the reign of Darius the Persian.	22 הלוים בימי אלישיב יוידע ויוחנן וידוע כתובים ראשי אבות והכהנים על מלכות דריוש הפרסי
23 The Levites who were heads of families were registered in the Book of Chronicles up to the time ofJohanan, grandson of Eliashib.	23 בני לוי ראשי האבות כתובים על ספר דברי הימים ועד ימי יוחנן בן אלישיב
24 The heads of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, while their brotherswho formed an alternate choir for the hymns of praise and thanksgiving, as David, man of God, had prescribed,section corresponding to section,	24 וראשי הלוים חשביה שרביה וישוע בן קדמיאל ואחיהם לנגדם להלל להודות במצות דויד איש האלהים משמר לעמת משמר
25 were Mattaniah, Bakbukiah and Obadiah. Meshul am, Talmon and Akkub were the gatekeepersguarding the stores at the gates.	25 מתניה ובקבקיה עבדיה משלם טלמון עקוב שמרים שוערים משמר באספי השערים
26 These lived in the days of Joiakim son of Jeshua, son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah thegovernor and of Ezra the priest-scribe.	26 אלה בימי יויקים בן ישוע בן יוצדק ובימי נחמיה הפחה ועזרא הכהן הסופר
27 At the dedication of the wal of Jerusalem the Levites were sent for, wherever they lived, to come toJerusalem and joyful y perform the dedication with hymns of thanksgiving and songs to the accompaniment ofcymbals, lyres and harps.	27 ובחנכת חומת ירושלם בקשו את הלוים מכל מקומתם להביאם לירושלם לעשת חנכה ושמחה ובתודות ובשיר מצלתים נבלים ובכנרות
28 Accordingly, the levitical singers assembled from the district round Jerusalem, from the vil ages ofthe Netophathites,	28 ויאספו בני המשררים ומן הככר סביבות ירושלם ומן חצרי נטפתי
29 from Beth-Gilgal and from their farms at Geba and Azmaveth -- for the singers had built themselvesvil ages al round Jerusalem.	29 ומבית הגלגל ומשדות גבע ועזמות כי חצרים בנו להם המשררים סביבות ירושלם
30 When the priests and Levites had purified themselves, they then purified the people, the gates andthe wal .	30 ויטהרו הכהנים והלוים ויטהרו את העם ואת השערים ואת החומה
31 I then made the leaders of Judah come on to the top of the wall and appointed two large choirs. Onemade its way along the top of the wal , to the right, towards the Dung Gate;	31 ואעלה את שרי יהודה מעל לחומה ואעמידה שתי תודת גדולת ותהלכת לימין מעל לחומה לשער האשפת
32 bringing up the rear were Hoshaiah and half the leaders of Judah,	32 וילך אחריהם הושעיה וחצי שרי יהודה
33 and also Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,	33 ועזריה עזרא ומשלם
34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah and Jeremiah,	34 יהודה ובנימן ושמעיה וירמיה
35 of the priests, with trumpets; then Zechariah son of Jonathan, son of Shemaiah, son of Mattaniah,son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph,	35 ומבני הכהנים בחצצרות זכריה בן יונתן בן שמעיה בן מתניה בן מיכיה בן זכור בן אסף
36 with his kinsmen, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Juda, Hanani, with the musicalinstruments of David, man of God. The scribe Ezra walked at their head.	36 ואחיו שמעיה ועזראל מללי גללי מעי נתנאל ויהודה חנני בכלי שיר דויד איש האלהים ועזרא הסופר לפניהם
37 At the Fountain Gate they went straight on up the steps of the City of David, along the top of therampart by the stairway of the wal , above the Palace of David as far as the Water Gate, on the east.	37 ועל שער העין ונגדם עלו על מעלות עיר דויד במעלה לחומה מעל לבית דויד ועד שער המים מזרח
38 The other choir made its way to the left; I and half the leaders of the people fol owed them along thetop of the wal from the Tower of the Furnaces to the Broad Wall,	38 והתודה השנית ההולכת למואל ואני אחריה וחצי העם מעל להחומה מעל למגדל התנורים ועד החומה הרחבה
39 from the Ephraim Gate, the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred as far asthe Sheep Gate, and they came to a halt at the Prison Gate.	39 ומעל לשער אפרים ועל שער הישנה ועל שער הדגים ומגדל חננאל ומגדל המאה ועד שער הצאן ועמדו בשער המטרה
40 The two choirs then took their places in the Temple of God. But I had half the magistrates with me	40 ותעמדנה שתי התודת בבית האלהים ואני וחצי הסגנים עמי
41 as wel as the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah with thetrumpets,	41 והכהנים אליקים מעשיה מנימין מיכיה אליועיני זכריה חנניה בחצצרות
42 and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam and Ezer. The singers sangloudly under the direction of Jezrahiah.	42 ומעשיה ושמעיה ואלעזר ועזי ויהוחנן ומלכיה ועילם ועזר וישמיעו המשררים ויזרחיה הפקיד
43 There were great sacrifices offered that day and the people rejoiced, God having given them goodcause for rejoicing; the women and children rejoiced too, and the joy of Jerusalem could be heard from far away.	43 ויזבחו ביום ההוא זבחים גדולים וישמחו כי האלהים שמחם שמחה גדולה וגם הנשים והילדים שמחו ותשמע שמחת ירושלם מרחוק
44 For the rooms intended for the treasures, contributions, first-fruits and tithes, supervisors were thenappointed whose business it was to col ect in them those portions from the town lands awarded by the Law tothe priests and Levites. For Judah rejoiced in the officiating priests and Levites,	44 ויפקדו ביום ההוא אנשים על הנשכות לאוצרות לתרומות לראשית ולמעשרות לכנוס בהם לשדי הערים מנאות התורה לכהנים וללוים כי שמחת יהודה על הכהנים ועל הלוים העמדים
45 since they -- with the singers and gatekeepers -- performed the liturgy of their God and the rites of purification as ordained by David and his son Solomon.	45 וישמרו משמרת אלהיהם ומשמרת הטהרה והמשררים והשערים כמצות דויד שלמה בנו
46 For from ancient times, from the days of David and Asaph, they had been the leaders in renderinghymns of praise and thanksgiving to God.	46 כי בימי דויד ואסף מקדם ראש המשררים ושיר תהלה והדות לאלהים
47 In the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah, al Israel supplied regular daily portions for the singers andgatekeepers, and gave the dedicated contributions to the Levites; and the Levites gave the dedicatedcontributions to the Aaronites.	47 וכל ישראל בימי זרבבל ובימי נחמיה נתנים מניות המשררים והשערים דבר יום ביומו ומקדשים ללוים והלוים מקדשים לבני אהרן
