NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 These, with their genealogies, were the heads of families who set out from Babylon with me in the reignof King Artaxerxes:	1 Estos son los jefes de familia, con su respectiva genealogía, que partieron conmigo de Babilonia, bajo el reinado de Artajerjes.
2 Of the sons of Phinehas: Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar: Daniel; of the sons of David: Hattush	2 De los hijos de Pinjás: Gersón; de los hijos de Itamar: Daniel; de los hijos de David: Jatús,
3 son of Shechaniah; of the sons of Parosh: Zechariah, and with him a hundred and fifty males officiallyregistered;	3 hijo de Secanías; de los hijos de Parós: Zacarías, con el cual fueron registrados 150 hombres;
4 of the sons of Pahath-Moab: Elioenai son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males;	4 de los hijos de Pajat Moab: Elijonai, hijo de Zerajías, con 200 hombres;
5 of the sons of Zattu: Shechaniah son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males;	5 de los hijos de Zatú: Secanías, hijo de Iajaziel, con 300 hombres;
6 of the sons of Adin: Ebed son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males;	6 de los hijos de Adín: Ebed, hijo de Jonatán, con 50 hombres;

10 of the sons of Bani: Shelomith son of Josiphiah, and with him a hundred and sixty males;	10 de los hijos de Baní: Selomit, hijo de Josifías, con 160 hombres;
11 of the sons of Bebai: Zechariah son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males;	11 de los hijos de Bebai: Zacarías, hijo de Bebai, con 28 hombres,
12 of the sons of Azgad: Johanan son of Hakkatan, and with him a hundred and ten males;	12 de los hijos de Azgad: Iojanán, hijo de Hacatán, con 110 hombres;
13 of the sons of Adonikam: the younger sons, whose names are: Eliphelet, Jeiel and Shemaiah, and withthem sixty males;	13 de los hijos de Adonicam: los menores, a saber, Elifélet, Jeiel y Semaías, con 60 hombres;
14 and of the sons of Bigvai: Uthai son of Zabud, and with him seventy males.	14 y de los hijos de Bigvai: Utai, hijo de Zacur, con 70 hombres.
15 I assembled them near the canal which runs to Ahava, where we camped for three days. I noticedlaymen and priests, but I could not discover any Levites there.	15 Yo los reuní a orillas del río que va hacia Ahavá y allí acampamos durante tres días. Vi que había gente del pueblo y sacerdotes, pero no encontré ningún levita.
16 I then sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah and Meshullam,judicious men,	16 Entonces llamé a los jefes Eliezer, Ariel, Semaías, Elnatán, Jarib, Elnatán, Natán, Zacarías y Mesulán, y a los instructores Joiarib y Elnatán,
17 and sent them to Iddo, the leading man of a place cal ed Casiphia; I told them what they were to say toIddo and his kinsmen, living at the place cal ed Casiphia, that is, to provide us with people to serve the Temple ofour God.	17 y los envié a ver a Idó, jefe de Casifía, con la orden precisa de lo que debían decir a él y a sus hermanos que residían en esa localidad, a fin de que nos mandaran servidores para la Casa de nuestro Dios.
18 And because the hand of God was good to us, they sent us a wise man of the sons of Mahli son ofLevi, son of Israel, a certain Sherebiah with his sons and kinsmen: eighteen men;	18 Gracias a que la mano bondadosa de nuestro Dios estaba sobre nosotros, ellos nos enviaron un hombre muy capaz, llamado Serebías, de los hijos de Majlí, hijo de Leví, hijo de Israel, junto con sus hijos y sus hermanos: en total, dieciocho hombres.
19 also Hashabiah and with him his brother Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari with his kinsmen and sons:twenty men;	19 Además, nos enviaron a Jasabías, de los hijos de Merarí, junto con su hermano Isaías y con sus hijos: en total, veinte hombres;
20 and two hundred and twenty temple slaves -- descendants of the temple slaves whom David and theprinces had assigned to serve the Levites -- all of them designated by name.	20 y de entre los empleados del Templo de David y los Jefes habían puesto al servicio de los levitas, enviaron doscientos veinte hombres, todos registrados personalmente.
21 There, beside the Ahava Canal, I then proclaimed a fast, to humble ourselves before our God and topray to him for a successful journey for us, our dependants and all our belongings.	21 Allí, a orillas del río Ahavá, proclamé un ayuno, para humillarnos delante de nuestro Dios, a fin de pedirle un feliz viaje para nosotros y nuestros hijos y para todos nuestros bienes.
22 For I should have been ashamed to ask the king for a company of cavalry to protect us from hostilepeople on our road, as we had already said to the king, 'The hand of our God is over al who seek him for theirprotection, but his mighty retribution befal s al those who forsake him.'	22 Porque hubiera sido vergonzoso pedir al rey gente armada y jinetes, para que nos protegieran en el camino contra el enemigo. Al contrario, nosotros habíamos dicho al rey: «La mano de nuestro Dios se extiende para bendecir a todos los que lo buscan, y su poder y su ira caen sobre todos los que lo abandonan».
23 So we fasted and pleaded with our God about this, and he heard us.	23 Así ayunamos e invocamos a nuestro Dios, y él nos escuchó.
24 I next chose twelve of the leading priests, and also Sherebiah and Hashabiah with ten of their kinsmen.	24 Después tomé aparte a doce de los jefes de los sacerdotes, y además a Serebías y a Jasabías, junto con diez de sus hermanos;
25 To them I weighed out the silver, the gold and the utensils, the contributions which the king, hiscounsel ors, his notables and al the Israelites there present had made for the Temple of our God.	25 y pesé delante de ellos la plata, el oro y los utensilios, que el rey, sus consejeros y sus funcionarios y todos los israelitas residente allí, habían ofrecido para la Casa de nuestro Dios.
26 To them I weighed out and handed over six hundred and fifty talents of silver, one hundred utensils ofsilver valued at two talents, one hundred talents of gold,	26 Pesé y puse en sus manos seiscientos cincuenta talentos de plata, utensilios de plata por valor de cien talentos, cien talentos de oro,
27 twenty golden bowls valued at a thousand darics and two utensils of fine burnished copper as preciousas gold.	27 veinte copas de oro de mil dáricos y dos vasos de bronce bruñido tan preciosos como el oro.
28 I said to them, 'You are consecrated to Yahweh; these utensils are consecrated too; the silver and gold are a voluntary offering to Yahweh, God of your ancestors.	28 Luego les dije: «Ustedes están consagrados al Señor; estos utensilios son sagrados; esta plata y este oro son una ofrenda voluntaria para el Señor, el Dios de nuestros padres.
29 Guard them carefully until you weigh them out to the leading priests, the Levites, and the heads offamilies of Israel in Jerusalem in the rooms of the Temple of Yahweh.'	29 Guárdenlos cuidadosamente, hasta que los pesen delante de los jefes de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, y delante de los jefes de familia de Israel, en las habitaciones de la Casa del Señor en Jerusalén».
30 The priests and Levites then took charge of the silver, the gold and the utensils thus weighed, to bringthem to Jerusalem to the Temple of our God.	30 Los sacerdotes y los levitas recibieron la plata, el oro y los utensilios que habían sido pesados, para trasladarlos a Jerusalén, a la Casa de nuestro Dios.
31 On the twelfth day of the first month we left the Ahava Canal to make our way to Jerusalem; the handof our God was over us and protected us from enemies and surprise attacks on our way.	31 El día doce del primer mes, partimos de las orillas del río Ahavá para ir a Jerusalén. La mano de nuestro Dios está sobre nosotros, y él nos presentó durante la marcha de los ataques enemigos y de las emboscadas.
32 When we arrived in Jerusalem, we rested for three days.	32 Al llegar a Jerusalén, descansamos tres días.
33 On the fourth day the silver, the gold and the utensils were weighed in the Temple of our God andhanded over to the priest Meremoth son of Uriah and, with him, Eleazar son of Phinehas; with them were theLevites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.	33 El cuarto día, fueron pesados la plata, el oro y los utensilios en la Casa de nuestro Dios, y se entregó todo al sacerdote Meremot, hijo de Urías, y a Eleazar, hijo de Pinjás, junto a los cuales estaban los levitas Josabad, hijo de Josué, y Noadías, hijo de Binuí.
34 By number and weight al was there. The total weight was recorded at the same time.	34 Después de comprobar la cantidad y el peso, se tomó nota de peso total. En aquel tiempo,
35 When the exiles arrived from their captivity, they offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel -- twelvebulls on behalf of all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-two lambs, and as a sin offering twelve he-goats: the wholeof this as a burnt offering to Yahweh.	35 los deportados que habían vuelto del exilio ofrecieron como holocausto al Dios de Israel doce novillos por todo Israel, noventa y seis carneros, setenta y siete corderos y doce chivos por el pecado: todo, en holocausto al Señor.
36 They also delivered the king's instructions to the king's satraps and the governors of Transeuphrates,who then supported the people and the Temple of God.	36 Y se entregaron los decretos del rey a los sátrapas y gobernadores de la región de este lado del Eufrates, los cuales presentaron su apoyo al pueblo y a la Casa de Dios.
