Ezra 5

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 When the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah andJerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them,	1 Ora, o profeta Ageu e o profeta Zacarias, filho de Ado, profetizaram aos judeus que estavam em Judá e em Jerusalém, em nome do Deus de Israel que estava com eles.
2 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak began rebuilding the Temple of God inJerusalem; with them were the prophets of God, supporting them.	2 Então Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, e Josué, filho de Josedec, retomaram a reconstrução do templo de Deus em Jerusalém com a ajuda e a assistência dos profetas de Deus.
3 It was then that Tattenai governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and their associates came tothem and asked, 'Who gave you the order to rebuild this Temple and complete this structure?	3 Ao mesmo tempo, Tartanai, governador do lado oposto ao rio, Estarbuzanai e seus colegas vieram procurá-los e falaram-lhes assim: Quem vos deu autorização para reconstruir o templo e levantar suas paredes?
4 What are the names of the men putting up this building?'	4 E acrescentaram: Quais são os nomes dos homens que trabalham nesse edifício?
5 But the eyes of their God were watching over the elders of the Jews, so they were not forced to stopuntil a report could reach Darius and an official reply about the matter could be received from him.	5 Mas Deus tinha os olhos voltados para os anciãos dos judeus, e ninguém os obrigou a interromper os trabalhos, até que chegasse o relatório a Dario a fim de que este respondesse por escrito sobre o assunto.
6 A copy of the letter which Tattenai, governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and his associates,the officials in Transeuphrates, sent to King Darius.	6 Cópia da carta que enviaram ao rei Dario, o governador Tatanai, da outra margem do rio, bem como Estarbuzanai e seus colegas de Artasaq, que também moravam na outra margem do rio.
7 They sent him a report which ran as fol ows: 'To King Darius, hearty greetings!	7 Enviaram-lhe um relatório no qual se lia o seguinte: Ao rei Dario prosperidade perfeita!
8 'The king should be informed that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God,which is being rebuilt with large stones; beams are being embedded in the walls; the work is being carried outenergetical y and is making good progress.	8 Saiba o rei que fomos à província de Judá, à casa do grande Deus. Está ela sendo reconstruída com pedras enormes, e o madeiramento está já colocado nas paredes. Este trabalho está sendo executado com cuidado e progride nas suas mãos;
9 Questioning these elders, we asked them, "Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple andcomplete this structure?"	9 por isso, interrogamos os anciãos: Quem vos deu autorização para reconstruir esse templo e levantar esses muros?
10 We also asked them their names, to inform you, so that we could record the names of the men whowere their leaders.	10 Perguntamos-lhes também os seus nomes para consigná-los aqui e fazê-los conhecidos de ti, pelo menos os que estão à testa deles.
11 'They gave us the fol owing answer, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; we arerebuilding the Temple built many years ago, which a great king of Israel had built and completed.	11 Responderam: Nós somos servos do Deus do céu e da terra; estamos reconstruindo o templo que há muitos anos fora construído e rematado por um grande rei de Israel.
12 But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar theChaldaean king of Babylon who destroyed this Temple and deported the people to Babylon.	12 Mas nossos pais caíram na ira do Deus do céu, o qual os entregou nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, o caldeu; este destruiu o templo e transportou o povo cativo para Babilônia.
13 In the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, however, King Cyrus issued an official order that this Templeof God should be rebuilt;	13 Entretanto, no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei de Babilônia, o rei Ciro ordenou a reconstrução desta casa de Deus.
14 furthermore, those gold and silver articles belonging to the Temple of God, which Nebuchadnezzar hadremoved from the temple in Jerusalem and brought to the temple of Babylon, King Cyrus in turn removed fromthe temple of Babylon and handed back to a certain Sheshbazzar whom he had appointed governor.	14 E o próprio rei Ciro retirou do templo de Babilônia os utensílios de ouro e de prata da casa de Deus, que Nabucodonosor tomara do santuário de Jerusalém e transferira para o templo de Babilônia. Foram entregues a um homem chamado Sassabasar, o qual nomeou governador.
15 He said to him, 'Take these articles; go and return them to the Temple which is in Jerusalem and letthe Temple of God be rebuilt on its original site;'	15 E disse-lhe: Toma estes utensílios; leva-os para o templo de Jerusalém; e que a casa de Deus seja reconstruída sobre os seus alicerces.
16 this Sheshbazzar then came and laid the foundations of the Temple of God in Jerusalem, and it hasbeen under construction ever since, and is not yet finished."	16 Foi então que aquele Sassabasar veio para aqui e colocou os fundamentos da casa de Deus em Jerusalém; depois do que, até o presente, temos prosseguido a construção, mas não está ainda terminada.
17 'Hence, if it please the king, let search be made in the royal treasuries in Babylon, to find out if it is truethat an official order was issued by King Cyrus for this temple of God in Jerusalem to be rebuilt; and let the king'sdecision on this matter be sent to us.'	17 Portanto, se o rei acha conveniente que sejam feitas investigações nos arquivos do rei em Babilônia, para ver se é verdade que foi ordenada pelo rei Ciro a reconstrução do templo de Deus em Jerusalém, que o faça e, em seguida, queira o rei transmitir-nos a sua decisão a respeito.
