Ezra 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 When the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah andJerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them,	1 Ma i profeti, cioè il profeta Aggeo e Zaccaria, figlio di Iddo, profetarono ai Giudei che erano in Giuda e a Gerusalemme, nel nome del Dio d’Israele, che era con loro.
2 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak began rebuilding the Temple of God inJerusalem; with them were the prophets of God, supporting them.	2 Allora Zorobabele, figlio di Sealtièl, e Giosuè, figlio di Iosadàk, si levarono e ripresero a costruire il tempio di Dio che è a Gerusalemme; con essi c’erano i profeti di Dio, che li sostenevano.
3 It was then that Tattenai governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and their associates came tothem and asked, 'Who gave you the order to rebuild this Temple and complete this structure?	3 In quel tempo Tattènai, governatore della regione dell’Oltrefiume, Setar-Boznài e i loro colleghi vennero da loro e dissero: «Chi vi ha dato ordine di costruire questo tempio e di preparare questo legname?
4 What are the names of the men putting up this building?'	4 Chi sono e come si chiamano gli uomini che costruiscono questo edificio?».
5 But the eyes of their God were watching over the elders of the Jews, so they were not forced to stopuntil a report could reach Darius and an official reply about the matter could be received from him.	5 Ma l’occhio vigile del loro Dio era sugli anziani dei Giudei: quelli perciò non li fecero smettere, in attesa che pervenisse a Dario una relazione e poi fosse rimandato un rescritto su questo affare.
6 A copy of the letter which Tattenai, governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and his associates,the officials in Transeuphrates, sent to King Darius.	6 Ecco la copia della lettera che Tattènai, governatore dell’Oltrefiume, Setar-Boznài e i suoi colleghi, funzionari dell’Oltrefiume, mandarono al re Dario.
7 They sent him a report which ran as fol ows: 'To King Darius, hearty greetings!	7 Gli mandarono un rapporto in cui era scritto: «Al re Dario salute perfetta!
8 'The king should be informed that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God,which is being rebuilt with large stones; beams are being embedded in the walls; the work is being carried outenergetical y and is making good progress.	8 Sia noto al re che siamo andati nella provincia della Giudea, al tempio del grande Dio. Esso viene costruito con pietre squadrate e si mette legno alle pareti; quel lavoro viene fatto con diligenza e progredisce nelle loro mani.
9 Questioning these elders, we asked them, "Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple andcomplete this structure?"	9 Allora abbiamo interrogato quegli anziani e abbiamo detto loro: “Chi vi ha dato ordine di costruire questo tempio e di preparare questo legname?”.
10 We also asked them their names, to inform you, so that we could record the names of the men whowere their leaders.	10 Inoltre abbiamo domandato i loro nomi, per farteli conoscere, scrivendo il nome degli uomini che stanno loro a capo.
11 'They gave us the fol owing answer, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; we arerebuilding the Temple built many years ago, which a great king of Israel had built and completed.	11 Essi hanno risposto: “Noi siamo servitori del Dio del cielo e della terra e ricostruiamo il tempio che fu edificato molti anni fa. Un grande re d’Israele lo ha costruito e lo ha portato a termine.
12 But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar theChaldaean king of Babylon who destroyed this Temple and deported the people to Babylon.	12 Ma poiché i nostri padri hanno provocato all’ira il Dio del cielo, egli li ha messi nelle mani di Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, il Caldeo, che distrusse questo tempio e deportò a Babilonia il popolo.
13 In the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, however, King Cyrus issued an official order that this Templeof God should be rebuilt;	13 Ma nel primo anno di Ciro, re di Babilonia, il re Ciro ha dato ordine di costruire questo tempio di Dio;
14 furthermore, those gold and silver articles belonging to the Temple of God, which Nebuchadnezzar hadremoved from the temple in Jerusalem and brought to the temple of Babylon, King Cyrus in turn removed fromthe temple of Babylon and handed back to a certain Sheshbazzar whom he had appointed governor.	14 inoltre i vasi del tempio di Dio, d’oro e d’argento, che Nabucodònosor aveva portato via dal tempio di Gerusalemme e trasferito al tempio di Babilonia, il re Ciro li ha fatti togliere dal tempio di Babilonia e li ha fatti consegnare a un tale di nome Sesbassàr, che egli aveva costituito governatore.
15 He said to him, 'Take these articles; go and return them to the Temple which is in Jerusalem and letthe Temple of God be rebuilt on its original site;'	15 Gli disse: Prendi questi vasi e va' a deporli nel tempio che è a Gerusalemme e il tempio di Dio sia costruito al suo posto.
16 this Sheshbazzar then came and laid the foundations of the Temple of God in Jerusalem, and it hasbeen under construction ever since, and is not yet finished."	16 Allora quel Sesbassàr venne, gettò le fondamenta del tempio di Dio che è a Gerusalemme e da allora fino ad oggi esso è in costruzione, ma non è ancora finito”.
17 'Hence, if it please the king, let search be made in the royal treasuries in Babylon, to find out if it is truethat an official order was issued by King Cyrus for this temple of God in Jerusalem to be rebuilt; and let the king'sdecision on this matter be sent to us.'	17 Ora, se piace al re, si cerchi negli archivi del re a Babilonia se risulta che dal re Ciro sia stato emanato un decreto di costruire quel tempio di Dio a Gerusalemme, e ci venga inviata la decisione del re a questo proposito».
