NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 When the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah andJerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them,	1 - Ma il profeta Aggeo, e Zaccaria figlio di Addo, ispirati, parlarono nel nome del Dio d'Israele ai Giudei che erano in Giudea ed in Gerusalemme.
2 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak began rebuilding the Temple of God inJerusalem; with them were the prophets of God, supporting them.	2 Allora Zorobabel figlio di Salatiel, e Josue figlio di Josedec, si levarono su, e ripresero a edificare il tempio di Dio in Gerusalemme; e stavano con loro i profeti di Dio, incoraggiandoli.
3 It was then that Tattenai governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and their associates came tothem and asked, 'Who gave you the order to rebuild this Temple and complete this structure?	3 Ma, al medesimo tempo, venne a loro Tatanai, governatore della regione di là dal fiume, e Starbuzanai, ed i loro consiglieri, e dissero a quei che lavoravano: «Chi v'ha dato ordine di edificare questa fabbrica, e di tirar su i suoi muri?».
4 What are the names of the men putting up this building?'	4 Al che noi rispondemmo dicendo i nomi di quelli che avevano ordinata quella riedificazione.
5 But the eyes of their God were watching over the elders of the Jews, so they were not forced to stopuntil a report could reach Darius and an official reply about the matter could be received from him.	5 L'occhio del Signore si posò benigno su quelli anziani dei Giudei, e non fu fatta loro proibizione alcuna. Fu convenuto che la cosa sarebbe riferita a Dario, e che allora avrebbero risposto a quell'accusa.
6 A copy of the letter which Tattenai, governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and his associates,the officials in Transeuphrates, sent to King Darius.	6 Ecco la lettera mandata al re Dario da Tatanai governatore della regione di là dal fiume, da Starbuzanai, e dagli Arfasachei suoi consiglieri, che stavano al di là dal fiume.
7 They sent him a report which ran as fol ows: 'To King Darius, hearty greetings!	7 Lo scritto che gli mandarono diceva così: «A Dario re, ogni pace.
8 'The king should be informed that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God,which is being rebuilt with large stones; beams are being embedded in the walls; the work is being carried outenergetical y and is making good progress.	8 Sia noto al re che noi siam venuti nella provincia di Giudea, alla casa del gran Dio, che si sta costruendo in pietre non levigate, framezzate con legna; è un lavoro condotto con diligenza, che progredisce nelle loro mani.
9 Questioning these elders, we asked them, "Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple andcomplete this structure?"	9 Abbiamo dunque interrogato quelli anziani, ed abbiamo detto loro: - Chi v'ha dato il permesso di edificar questa fabbrica, e di tirar su questi muri? -
10 We also asked them their names, to inform you, so that we could record the names of the men whowere their leaders.	10 Abbiamo anche domandato loro i loro nomi per riferirteli; ed abbiamo scritto i nomi di quelli che sono i maggiorenti fra loro.
11 'They gave us the fol owing answer, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; we arerebuilding the Temple built many years ago, which a great king of Israel had built and completed.	11 Risposero a noi, e dissero: - Noi siamo servi del Dio del cielo e della terra; e riedifichiamo il tempio che era stato costruito molti anni addietro, che un gran re d'Israele aveva innalzato e fabbricato.
12 But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar theChaldaean king of Babylon who destroyed this Temple and deported the people to Babylon.	12 Ma dopo che i padri nostri ebbero provocato lo sdegno del Dio del cielo, questi li dette in mano a Nabucodonosor Caldeo, re di Babilonia, che distrusse quel tempio, e condusse prigioniero il popolo a Babilonia.
13 In the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, however, King Cyrus issued an official order that this Templeof God should be rebuilt;	13 Ma l'anno primo di Ciro re di Babilonia, lo stesso re Ciro pubblicò un editto che questa casa di Dio fosse riedificata.
14 furthermore, those gold and silver articles belonging to the Temple of God, which Nebuchadnezzar hadremoved from the temple in Jerusalem and brought to the temple of Babylon, King Cyrus in turn removed fromthe temple of Babylon and handed back to a certain Sheshbazzar whom he had appointed governor.	14 Che anzi, anche i vasi d'oro e d'argento nel tempio di Dio, che Nabucodonosor aveva portati via dal tempio di Gerusalemme, e collocati nel tempio di Babilonia, il re Ciro li fece cavar fuori dal tempio, e dare ad uno chiamato Sassabasar, che egli nominò condottiero,
15 He said to him, 'Take these articles; go and return them to the Temple which is in Jerusalem and letthe Temple of God be rebuilt on its original site;'	15 e gli disse: "Prendi questi vasi, e va' e ponili nel tempio di Gerusalemme; e la casa di Dio si riedifichi al suo luogo".
16 this Sheshbazzar then came and laid the foundations of the Temple of God in Jerusalem, and it hasbeen under construction ever since, and is not yet finished."	16 Allora pertanto quel Sassabasar venne, e gettò le fondamenta del tempio di Dio in Gerusalemme; e da allora in poi si sta costruendo, ma non è ancora terminato.
17 'Hence, if it please the king, let search be made in the royal treasuries in Babylon, to find out if it is truethat an official order was issued by King Cyrus for this temple of God in Jerusalem to be rebuilt; and let the king'sdecision on this matter be sent to us.'	17 Ora dunque, se al re par bene, ricerchi nella biblioteca reale di Babilonia se veramente fu comando del re Ciro che si edificasse la casa di Dio in Gerusalemme; e poi, ci faccia sapere la volontà del re su questa faccenda -».
