NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame and came to Jerusalem to test Solomon with difficultquestions, with a very large retinue with camels laden with spices and an immense quantity of gold and preciousstones. Having reached Solomon, she discussed everything that she had in mind with him,	1 Ora la regina di Saba, udita la fama di Salomone, venne a Gerusalemme per mettere alla prova Salomone con enigmi, con un seguito numerosissimo, con cammelli carichi di aromi, di oro in gran quantità e di pietre preziose. 6 Until I came and saw for myself, I did not believe the reports, but clearly I was told less than half aboutthe true extent of your wisdom. 7 How fortunate your people are! How fortunate your courtiers, continually in attendance on you andlistening to your wisdom!	7 Beati i tuoi uomini e beati questi tuoi servi, che stanno continuamente alla tua presenza e ascoltano la tua sapienza.
8 Blessed be Yahweh your God. Because your God loved Israel and meant to keep it secure for ever, hehas made you its king to administer law and justice.'	8 Sia benedetto il Signore, tuo Dio, che si è compiaciuto in te e ti ha posto sul suo trono come re per il Signore, tuo Dio. Il tuo Dio ama Israele e vuole che resti per sempre, per questo ti ha posto quale re sopra di loro per esercitare il diritto e la giustizia".
9 And she presented the king with a hundred and twenty talents of gold and great quantities of spicesand precious stones. There never were such spices as those which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.	9 Indi ella fece dono al re di centoventi talenti d'oro, aromi in grande quantità e pietre preziose. Non ci furono mai aromi come quelli che la regina di Saba diede al re Salomone.
10 Similarly, the men employed by Huram and the men employed by Solomon, who brought the goldfrom Ophir, also brought back algum wood and precious stones.	10 I servi di Curam e i servi di Salomone, che avevano trasportato oro da Ofir, portarono legname di sandalo e pietre preziose.

12 And King Solomon, in his turn, presented the queen of Sheba with everything that she expressed awish for, besides what he gave her in exchange for what she had brought to the king. After which, she wenthome to her own country, she and her servants.	12 Il re Salomone diede alla regina di Saba tutto ciò che desiderò e chiese, oltre all'equivalente di quanto ella aveva portato al re. 16 also three hundred smal shields of beaten gold, three hundred shekels of gold going into one shield;and the king put these into the House of the Forest of Lebanon.	16 e trecento scudi minori di oro battuto, per ognuno dei quali adoperò trecento sicli di oro. 17 The king also made a great ivory throne which he overlaid with refined gold.	17 Il re fece anche un grande trono d'avorio, che ricoprì di oro puro.
18 The throne had six steps with a golden foot-rest attached to the throne, and arms on each side of theseat and two lions standing beside the arms,	18 Il trono aveva sei gradini e uno sgabello d'oro, braccioli da una parte e dall'altra del sedile e due leoni che stavano a fianco dei braccioli.
19 and twelve lions stood on either side of the six steps. Nothing like it had ever been made in any otherkingdom.	19 Dodici leoni stavano sui sei gradini, di qua e di là. In nessun regno fu mai eseguito qualcosa di simile.
20 Al King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and al the plate in the House of the Forest ofLebanon was of pure gold; silver was little thought of in Solomon's days,	20 Tutto il vasellame per bere appartenente al re Salomone era d'oro e tutta la suppellettile del palazzo della foresta del Libano era d'oro fino. 21 since the king's ships went to Tarshish with Huram's employees, and once every three years themerchantmen would come back laden with gold and silver, ivory, apes and baboons.	21 Il re infatti possedeva delle navi che andavano a Tarsis con i marinai di Curam. Ogni tre anni le navi da Tarsis ritornavano cariche d'oro, d'argento, d'avorio, di scimmie e di pavoni.
22 For riches and for wisdom, King Solomon surpassed al kings on earth,	22 Il re Salomone superò tutti i re della terra per ricchezza e sapienza.
23 and al the kings in the world consulted Solomon to hear the wisdom which God had implanted in hisheart,	23 Tutti i re della terra desideravano essere ammessi alla presenza di Salomone per ascoltare la sapienza che Dio gli aveva posto nel cuore.
24 and everyone would bring a present with him: objects of silver and of gold, robes, armour, spices,horses and mules; and this went on year after year.	24 Ognuno di essi, anno per anno, gli portava il proprio dono, oggetti d'argento e oggetti d'oro, vesti, armi, aromi, cavalli e muli.

30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.	30 Salomone regnò in Gerusalemme su tutto Israele per quarant'anni.
31 When Solomon fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of his father David; Rehoboamhis son succeeded him.	31 Poi Salomone si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella Città di Davide, suo padre. Al suo posto divenne re Roboamo, suo figlio.
