NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Then Solomon said: Yahweh has chosen to dwel in thick cloud,	1 - Allora Salomone disse: «Il Signore ha promesso di abitare nella caligine,
2 and I have built you a princely dwel ing, a residence for you for ever.	2 e io ho edificato la casa al suo nome perchè vi abitasse in eterno».
3 Then the king turned round and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while the whole assembly ofIsrael stood.	3 Poi il re si volse indietro a benedire tutta la moltitudine di Israele, (che se ne stava piena di attenzione) e disse:
4 He said, 'Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who has carried out by his hand what he promisedverbally to my father David, when he said,	4 «Benedetto il Signore Dio d'Israele, che ha compiuto quanto aveva promesso a Davide, mio padre, dicendo:
5 "From the day I brought my people out of Egypt I chose no city, in any of the tribes of Israel, to have atemple built where my name should be, nor did I choose anyone to be prince of my people Israel;	5 - Dal giorno in cui trassi il mio popolo dalla terra d'Egitto non scelsi fra tutte le tribù d'Israele città alcuna, dove fosse edificata una casa al mio nome, nè elessi uomo alcuno, perchè fosse condottiero del mio popolo Israele;
6 but I did choose Jerusalem for my name to be there, and I did choose David to rule my people Israel."	6 ma ora elessi Gerusalemme, perchè vi sia il mio nome e scelsi Davide per costituirlo re sopra il popolo mio Israele. -
7 My father David had set his heart on building a temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,	7 Ora avendo voluto Davide, mio padre, edificare una casa al nome del Signore Dio d'Israele,
8 but Yahweh said to my father David, "You have set your heart on building a temple for my name, and inthis you have done wel ;	8 il Signore gli disse: - Poichè tu hai voluto edificare una casa al mio nome, hai fatto bene ad avere una tal volontà;
9 and yet, you are not the man to build the temple; but your son, yet to be born to you, wil be the one tobuild the temple for my name."	9 tuttavia non sarai tu ad edificare questa casa, ma il figliuolo tuo, uscito dai lombi tuoi, egli edificherà la casa al mio nome. -
10 Yahweh has kept the promise which he made: I have succeeded my father David and am seated onthe throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised; I have built the temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,	10 Il Signore adunque adempì la parola da lui proferita, ed io sono venuto in luogo del padre mio, a sedermi, come disse il Signore, sul trono d'Israele, ad edificare la casa al nome del Signore Dio d'Israele,
11 and I have placed in it the ark containing the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with the Israelites.'	11 e a porvi l'arca dentro cui sta il patto del Signore, ch'egli ha fatto coi figli d'Israele».
12 Then in the presence of the whole assembly of Israel, he stood facing the altar of Yahweh andstretched out his hands-	12 Postosi quindi Salomone dinanzi all'altare del Signore, alla presenza di tutta la moltitudine di Israele, stese le sue mani;
13 for Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and five cubits high, whichhe had placed in the middle of the court and on which he was standing; he knelt down in front of the wholeassembly of Israel, stretched out his hands to heaven-	13 (egli aveva fatto costruire una predella di bronzo lunga cinque cubiti, larga cinque e alta tre e l'aveva posta in mezzo al portico; v'era salito su, e s'era messo in ginocchio alla presenza di tutta la moltitudine di Israele), e colle mani alzate al cielo,
14 and said, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven or on earth, you who are loyal tothe covenant and show faithful love to your servants as long as they walk wholeheartedly in your way.	14 disse: «Signore Dio d'Israele, non c'è Dio simile a te in cielo e in terra! Tu mantieni l'alleanza e la misericordia verso i servi tuoi, che camminano alla tua presenza con tutto il loro cuore.
15 You have kept it with your servant, my father David, as you promised him you would. What youpromised verbally today you have carried out by your hand.	15 Tu hai mantenuto la promessa da te fatta al tuo servo Davide, mio padre, e ciò che avevi dichiarato a bocca lo hai eseguito coll'opera, come questo giorno lo dimostra.
16 And now, Yahweh, God of Israel, keep the promise which you made to your servant David when yousaid, "You wil never lack for a man to sit in my presence before me on the throne of Israel, provided that yoursons are careful how they behave, fol owing my law as you yourself have done."	16 Ora pertanto, o Signore Dio d'Israele, compi per il servo tuo Davide, mio padre, tutto ciò che hai detto con quelle parole: -Non mancherà mai dalla tua progenie un uomo il quale al mio cospetto segga sul trono di Israele, purchè però i figli tuoi regolino la loro vita e camminino nella mia legge, come tu camminasti alla mia presenza-.
17 So now, God of Israel, let the words come true which you spoke to your servant, my father David.	17 Ed ora, o Signore Dio d'Israele, sia compiuta la promessa da te fatta al servo tuo Davide.
18 Yet wil God real y live with the people on earth? Why, the heavens and the heavens of the heavenscannot contain you! How much less this temple built by me!	18 È mai credibile che Iddio abiti cogli uomini sopra la terra? Se il cielo e i cieli dei cieli non ti contengono, quanto meno questa casa da me edificata?
19 Even so, listen favourably to the prayer and entreaty of your servant, Yahweh my God; listen to the cryand to the prayer which your servant makes to you:	19 Ma essa fu costruita soltanto perchè tu guardi alla preghiera del tuo servo e alle sue suppliche, o Signore Iddio mio, e ascolti le preghiere, che il tuo servo effonde dinanzi a te,
20 Day and night, may your eyes watch over this temple, over this place in which you have promised toput your name. Listen to the prayer which your servant offers in this place.	20 affinchè tu apra i tuoi occhi sopra questa casa di giorno e di notte, sopra il luogo dove tu promettesti che sarà invocato il tuo nome,
21 'Listen to the entreaties of your servant and of your people Israel; whenever they pray in this place,listen from the place where you reside in heaven; and when you hear, forgive.	21 ed esaudisca l'orazione che il tuo servo vi innalza e ascolti le preghiere del tuo servo e del popolo tuo Israele. Chiunque pregherà in questo luogo, esaudiscilo dal tuo abitacolo, cioè dai cieli, e sii a lui propizio.
22 'If someone has wronged his neighbour and a curse is laid on him to make him swear here beforeyour altar in this Temple,	22 Se alcuno avrà peccato contro il suo prossimo e sarà pronto a giurar contro di lui, e si sarà legato con la maledizione dinanzi all'altare in questa casa;
23 then listen from heaven and do justice between your servants, paying back the guilty one by makinghim suffer for his conduct, and acquitting the upright by rewarding him as his uprightness deserves.	23 tu ascolta dal cielo e rendi ragione ai tuoi servi, in modo che ricada sull'iniquo la sua condotta e sia vendicato il giusto, premiandolo secondo la sua giustizia.
24 'If your people Israel are defeated by the enemy because they have sinned against you, but thenreturn to you and acknowledge your name, and pray and seek your favour in this temple,	24 Se il tuo popolo d'Israele sarà sconfitto dai suoi nemici (poichè essi peccheranno contro di te) e tornati in sè faranno penitenza e supplicheranno il tuo nome e pregheranno in questo luogo;
25 then listen from heaven; forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them back to the countrywhich you gave to them and their ancestors.	25 tu esaudisci dal cielo e abbi pietà delle colpe del tuo popolo d'Israele, e riconducili alla terra che hai dato ad essi e ai padri loro.
26 'When the heavens are shut and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray inthis place and praise your name and, having been humbled by you, desist from their sin,	26 Se quando il cielo sarà chiuso e non cadrà più pioggia a cagione dei peccati del popolo ed essi ti pregheranno in questo luogo e glorificando il tuo nome si ritrarranno dalle loro colpe, perchè tu li hai afflitti;
27 then listen from heaven and forgive the sin of your servant and of your people Israel -- for you areconstantly showing them the good way which they must fol ow -- and send rain on your country, which you havegiven to your people as their heritage.	27 esaudiscili dal cielo, o Signore, e rimetti i peccati de' tuoi servi e del popolo tuo Israele, e addita loro la via buona che devono battere, e concedi la pioggia alla terra, che tu hai data in possesso al popolo tuo.
28 'Should there be famine in the country, or pestilence, wind-blast or mildew, locust or caterpil ar; shouldtheir enemy lay siege to their territory; should there be any plague or any disease;	28 Se nel paese verrà la carestia e la pestilenza, e la ruggine e il carbone e le cavallette, e i bruchi; e i nemici, devastate le contrade, assedieranno le porte della città, e si farà sentire qualsivoglia altro flagello o epidemia;
29 whatever be the prayer or entreaty of any individual, or of al your people Israel, each being aware ofhis own affliction and pain; when he stretches out his hands towards this Temple,	29 se alcuno del tuo popolo d'Israele, al vedere il flagello e la malattia, pregherà e stenderà le sue mani in questa casa;
30 then listen from heaven where you reside; forgive and, since you know what is in his heart, deal witheach as his conduct deserves -- for you alone know what is in the human heart-	30 tu esaudisci dal cielo, cioè dal tuo eccelso abitacolo, e usa misericordia e rendi a ciascuno secondo le sue vie e le intenzioni che tu conosci avere ciascuno in cuor suo (poichè tu solo conosci il cuore dei figliuoli degli uomini),
31 so that they may revere you by following your directions, which you gave to our ancestors, throughouttheir lives on earth.	31 affinchè essi ti temano e camminino nelle tue vie in tutti i giorni, in cui vivono sulla faccia della terra, che hai dato ai nostri padri.
32 'Even the foreigner, not belonging to your people Israel but coming from a distant country, attracted byyour great name, your mighty hand and outstretched arm, if he comes and prays in this Temple,	32 Anche lo straniero, che non appartiene al tuo popolo d'Israele, se verrà da terra lontana, attrattovi dal tuo gran nome e dalla tua mano potente e dal tuo braccio esteso, e adorerà in questo luogo;
33 then listen from heaven where you reside, and grant al that the foreigner asks of you, so that al thepeoples of the earth may acknowledge your name and, like your people Israel, revere you, and know that thisTemple, which I have built, bears your name.	33 tu lo esaudirai dal cielo, dal luogo della tua forte dimora e farai tutto ciò per cui quel pellegrino ti invocherà: affinchè conoscano tutti i popoli della terra il tuo nome e ti temano, come fa il tuo popolo d'Israele, e sappiano che il tuo nome è invocato sopra questa casa, che io ho costruita.
34 'If your people go out to war against their enemies, on whatever mission you send them, and they prayto you, turning towards this city which you have chosen and towards the Temple which I have built for yourname,	34 Qualora il tuo popolo uscisse in guerra contro i suoi nemici, seguendo la via per la quale tu l'avrai mandato e ti adoreranno, rivolti a questa città, che tu hai eletto e a questa casa, che io ho edificata al tuo nome;
35 then listen from heaven to their prayer and their entreaty, and uphold their cause.	35 tu esaudirai dal cielo la loro preghiera e la loro supplica e farai ad essi giustizia.
36 'When they sin against you -- for there is no one who does not sin -- and you are angry with them andabandon them to the enemy, and their captors carry them off to a country be it far away or near,	36 Che se peccheranno contro di te (poichè non v'ha uomo che non pecchi), e tu sarai adirato contro di essi e li abbandonerai in mano ai loro nemici, che li condurranno schiavi in paesi lontani o vicini,
37 if they come to their senses in the country to which they have been taken as captives and pray to youonce again in the country of their captivity, saying, "We have sinned, we have acted wrongly and wickedly,"	37 ed essi, rientrando in sè in quel paese ove furono condotti prigionieri, faranno penitenza e ti scongiureranno in quel paese della loro prigionia, dicendo: - Peccammo, ti abbiamo trattato ingiustamente, ci siamo comportati da perversi; -
38 and turn back to you with al their heart and soul in the country of their captivity to which they havebeen carried away as captives, and pray, turning towards the country which you gave to their ancestors, towardsthe city you have chosen, and towards the Temple which I have built for your name,	38 e si saranno convertiti a te con tutto il loro cuore e con tutta l'anima loro nel paese della loro cattività, dove saranno stati condotti, e adoreranno rivolti alla loro terra, che tu hai concessa ai loro padri, e alla città, che tu hai eletta e al tempio che io ho edificato al tuo nome;
39 then listen from heaven where you reside, hear their prayer and entreaties, uphold their cause andforgive your people for having sinned against you.	39 tu esaudisci dal cielo, vale a dire dal luogo della tua forte dimora, le loro preghiere e fa' loro ragione e perdona al tuo popolo, per quanto peccatore;
40 'Now, O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.	40 poichè, tu sei il mio Dio. Si aprano i tuoi occhi, te ne prego, e le tue orecchie ascoltino l'orazione che si fa in questo luogo.
41 And now Yahweh God, go up to your resting-place, you and your fortress, the Ark! Let your priests,Yahweh God, be robed in salvation, let your faithful rejoice in what is good!	41 Ora quindi, o Signore Iddio, levati, vieni al luogo del tuo riposo, tu e l'arca della tua fortezza. Che i tuoi sacerdoti, o Signore Iddio, siano ammantati di salute e i tuoi santi gioiscano dei loro beni.
42 Yahweh God, do not rebuff your Anointed -- remember the faithful love of your servant David!'	42 O Signore Iddio, non ritirare lo sguardo dal tuo unto: ricordati delle misericordie usate a Davide tuo servo».
