2 Chronicles 21

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Then Jehoshaphat fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David; his sonJehoram succeeded him.	1 Se acostó Josafat con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Joram.
2 Jehoram's brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael andShephatiah -- al of them sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.	2 Joram tenía seis hermanos, hijos de Josafat, que eran Azarías, Yejiel, Zacarías, Azaryau, Miguel y Sefatías. Todos estos eran hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.
3 Their father had lavishly given them presents of silver, gold and other valuables as wel as fortifiedtowns in Judah; but the throne he bequeathed to Jehoram since he was the first-born.	3 Su padre les había hecho grandes donaciones de plata, oro y objetos preciosos, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; pero entregó el reino a Joram, porque era el primogénito.
4 Jehoram, having taken control of his father's kingdom and secured his own position, put al hisbrothers to the sword and some officials of Israel too.	4 Joram tomó posesión del trono de su padre; y cuando se afianzó en él pasó a cuchillo a todos sus hermanos y también a algunos de los jefes de Israel.
5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years inJerusalem.	5 32 años tenía Joram cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
6 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing, he having marriedone of Ahab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	6 Anduvo por el camino de los reyes de Israel, como había hecho la casa de Ajab, porque se había casado con una mujer de la familia de Ajab, e hizo el mal a los ojos de Yahveh.
7 But Yahweh would not destroy the House of David, because of the covenant which he had made withDavid, promising to provide him and his sons with a lamp for ever.	7 Pero Yahveh no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa de la alianza que había hecho con David, porque le había prometido que le daría siempre una lámpara a él y a sus hijos.
8 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	8 En sus días se rebeló Edom de bajo la mano de Judá y se proclamaron un rey.
9 Jehoram crossed the frontier, and with him his commanders and al his chariots. Under cover of dark,he and his chariot commanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him.	9 Pasó Joram con sus jefes, y con todos sus carros. Se levantó por la noche y batió a los de Edom que le tenían cercado, a él y a los jefes de los carros.
10 Thus Edom threw off the domination of Judah and has remained free to the present day. Libnahrevolted against him at the same time, because he had abandoned Yahweh, God of his ancestors.	10 Así se rebeló Edom de bajo la mano de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Por ese mismo tiempo se rebeló Libná de bajo su mano, porque había abandonado a Yahveh, el Dios de sus padres.
11 What is more, he set up high places in the highlands of Judah, leading the citizens of Jerusalem andthe people of Judah into apostasy.	11 Construyó asimismo altos en los montes de Judá, incitó a la prostitución a los habitantes de Jerusalén y empujó a ella a Judá.
12 Something written by the prophet Elijah then came into his hands. It said, 'Yahweh, God of yourancestor David, says this, "Since you have not fol owed the example of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa kingof Judah,	12 Le llegó un escrito del profeta Elías, que decía: «Así dice Yahveh, el Dios de tu padre David: Porque no has seguido los caminos de tu padre Josafat, ni los caminos de Asá, rey de Judá,
13 but have fol owed the example of the kings of Israel and have led Judah and the citizens ofJerusalem into apostasy, just as the House of Ahab has led Israel into apostasy, and have even murdered yourbrothers, your own family, who were better men than you,	13 sino que has andado por los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y has prostituido a Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén siguiendo las prostituciones de la casa de Ajab, y también porque has dado muerte a tus hermanos de la casa de tu padre que eran mejores que tú;
14 Yahweh is going to afflict your people, your sons, your wives and al your property with a greatcalamity,	14 he aquí que Yahveh castigará con terrible azote a tu pueblo, tus hijos, tus mujeres y toda tu hacienda;
15 and you yourself with a severe disease affecting your bowels, as a result of which disease,continuing day after day, you wil suffer protrusion of your bowels." '	15 tú mismo padecerás grandes enfermedades y una dolencia de entrañas tal, que día tras día se te saldrán fuera a causa de la enfermedad».
16 Yahweh then roused the hostility of the Philistines and of the Arabs living near the Cushites againstJehoram.	16 Excitó Yahveh contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes, vecinos de los etíopes,
17 They invaded Judah, forcing their way into it and carrying off all the property to be found in the king'spalace, as wel as his sons and his wives, so that he was left no sons at al except his youngest son Jehoahaz.	17 que subieron contra Judá y lo invadieron llevándose todas las riquezas que hallaron en la casa del rey, y también a sus hijos y a sus mujeres, no dejándole otro hijo que Ocozías, el menor.
18 And after al this, Yahweh afflicted him with an incurable disease of the bowels;	18 Después de todo esto le hirió Yahveh con una enfermedad incurable de vientre.
19 in due time, after about two years, his bowels protruded as a result of his disease and he died inacute pain. His people did not make a funeral pyre for him, as they had for his ancestors.	19 Y al cabo de cierto tiempo, al fin del año segundo, se le salieron las entrañas a causa de su enfermedad, y murió en medio de terribles dolores. El pueblo no le encendió fuego, como lo había encendido por su padre.
20 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.He passed away unlamented and was buried in the City of David, though not in the tombs of the kings.	20 Tenía 32 años cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años. Se fué sin que nadie le llorara; y le sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.
