2 Chronicles 12

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Rehoboam had consolidated the kingdom and become strong, he, and al Israel with him,abandoned the Law of Yahweh;	1 Quando il regno fu consolidato ed egli divenne forte, Roboamo abbandonò la legge del Signore e con lui tutto Israele.
2 and thus it happened that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt marched onJerusalem, because they had been unfaithful to Yahweh,	2 Nell'anno quinto del re Roboamo, Sisach, re d'Egitto, marciò contro Gerusalemme, perché erano diventati infedeli al Signore.
3 with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand cavalry and countless hordes of Libyans, Sukkiimand Cushites who came from Egypt with him.	3 Egli aveva con sé milleduecento carri e sessantamila cavalieri, non si poteva contare la moltitudine che era venuta con lui dall'Egitto: Libici, Succhei ed Etiopi.
4 They captured the fortified towns of Judah and reached Jerusalem.	4 Dopo aver occupato le città fortificate di Giuda, egli giunse fino a Gerusalemme.
5 The prophet Shemaiah then came to Rehoboam and the generals of Judah, who had fal en back onJerusalem before Shishak's advance, and said to them, 'Yahweh says this, "You have abandoned me and so Ihave abandoned you into Shishak's clutches." '	5 Allora il profeta Semaia si presentò a Roboamo e ai capi di Giuda che si erano radunati a Gerusalemme per paura di Sisach e disse loro: "Così parla il Signore: Voi avete abbandonato me e io ho abbandonato voi nelle mani di Sisach".
6 At this, the Israelite generals and the king humbled themselves and said, 'Yahweh is just!'	6 Allora i capi d'Israele e il re si umiliarono e dissero: "Giusto è il Signore".
7 When Yahweh saw that they had humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah asfol ows, 'They have humbled themselves. I shal not destroy them but shall grant them some degree ofdeliverance. My retribution wil not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak;	7 Quando il Signore vide che si erano umiliati, fu rivolta la parola del Signore a Semaia, in questi termini: "Si sono umiliati; non li sterminerò, anzi tra breve concederò loro salvezza e la mia ira non si riverserà su Gerusalemme per mezzo di Sisach.
8 they are nonetheless to become his slaves, so that they may learn the difference between serving meand serving kings of other countries.'	8 Tuttavia saranno a lui sottomessi e così faranno l'esperienza di che cosa sia servire a me e servire ai regni delle nazioni!".
9 So Shishak king of Egypt advanced on Jerusalem and carried off the treasures of the Temple and thetreasures of the royal palace. He took everything away, including the golden shields which Solomon had made.	9 Sisach, re d'Egitto, salì a Gerusalemme e prese i tesori del tempio del Signore e i tesori del palazzo reale; portò via tutto, persino gli scudi d'oro fatti fare da Salomone.
10 To replace these, King Rehoboam made bronze shields, entrusting them to the commanders of theguard who guarded the king's palace gate.	10 Il re Roboamo li sostituì con scudi di bronzo, affidandone la custodia ai comandanti delle guardie poste all'ingresso del palazzo reale.
11 Whenever the king went to the Temple of Yahweh, the guards would come out carrying them,returning them to the guardroom afterwards.	11 Ogni volta che il re si recava nel tempio del Signore, le guardie venivano a prenderli e poi li riportavano nella sala delle guardie.
12 Because King Rehoboam had humbled himself, the retribution of Yahweh turned away from him soas not to destroy him completely; and there were also some good features in Judah.	12 Poiché Roboamo si era umiliato, la collera del Signore si distolse da lui e non lo distrusse completamente. Anzi, anche in Giuda vi fu qualche cosa di buono!
13 Thus he was able to strengthen his position in Jerusalem and continue as king; for Rehoboam wasforty-one years old when he came to the throne and remained king for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the citychosen by Yahweh from al the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother's name was Naamah theAmmonite.	13 Il re Roboamo si consolidò in Gerusalemme e continuò a regnare. Quando divenne re, Roboamo aveva quarantun anni; regnò diciassette anni in Gerusalemme, città che il Signore aveva scelto fra tutte le tribù d'Israele per porre ivi il suo nome. Sua madre si chiamava Naama, l'ammonita.
14 But he did wrong in not setting his heart on seeking Yahweh.	14 Egli fece il male, perché non consacrò il suo cuore a ricercare il Signore.
15 The history of Rehoboam, from first to last, is this not all written down in the records of Shemaiah theprophet and of Iddo the seer? Warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam went on throughout the period.	15 Le gesta di Roboamo, le prime e le ultime, non sono forse descritte negli Atti del profeta Semaia e del veggente Iddo? Ciò vale anche per la genealogia e le continue guerre tra Roboamo e Geroboamo.
16 When Rehoboam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Abijahsucceeded him.	16 Roboamo si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella Città di Davide. Al suo posto divenne re Abia, suo figlio.
