2 Chronicles 12

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When Rehoboam had consolidated the kingdom and become strong, he, and al Israel with him,abandoned the Law of Yahweh;	1 Pero cuando Roboam consolidó su reino y se hizo fuerte, abandonó la Ley del Señor, y con él todo Israel.
2 and thus it happened that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt marched onJerusalem, because they had been unfaithful to Yahweh,	2 Y por haber sido infieles al Señor, en el año quinto del rey Roboam, subió contra Jerusalén Sisac, rey de Egipto,
3 with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand cavalry and countless hordes of Libyans, Sukkiimand Cushites who came from Egypt with him.	3 con tres mil doscientos carros de guerra, sesenta mil jinetes y una multitud innumerable que venía con él de Egipto, en la que había libios, suquíes y cusitas.
4 They captured the fortified towns of Judah and reached Jerusalem.	4 Así se apoderó de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó a Jerusalén.
5 The prophet Shemaiah then came to Rehoboam and the generals of Judah, who had fal en back onJerusalem before Shishak's advance, and said to them, 'Yahweh says this, "You have abandoned me and so Ihave abandoned you into Shishak's clutches." '	5 Entonces el profeta Semaías se presentó a Roboam y a los jefes de Judá, que se habían concentrado en Jerusalén ante el avance de Sisac, y les dijo: «Así habla el Señor: Ustedes me han abandonado en manos de Sisac».
6 At this, the Israelite generals and the king humbled themselves and said, 'Yahweh is just!'	6 Los jefes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: «¡El Señor es justo!».
7 When Yahweh saw that they had humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah asfol ows, 'They have humbled themselves. I shal not destroy them but shall grant them some degree ofdeliverance. My retribution wil not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak;	7 Cuando el Señor vio que se habían humillado, la palabra del Señor llegó a Semaías, en estos términos: «Ellos se han humillado: no los destruiré, sino que los libraré dentro de poco, y mi furor no se derramará sobre Jerusalén por la mano de Sisac.
8 they are nonetheless to become his slaves, so that they may learn the difference between serving meand serving kings of other countries.'	8 Pero le estarán sometidos, y así sabrán lo que es servirme a mí y lo que es servir a los reyes de la tierra».
9 So Shishak king of Egypt advanced on Jerusalem and carried off the treasures of the Temple and thetreasures of the royal palace. He took everything away, including the golden shields which Solomon had made.	9 Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén y se apoderó de los tesoros de la Casa del Señor y de la casa del rey. Se apoderó de todo, incluso de los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.
10 To replace these, King Rehoboam made bronze shields, entrusting them to the commanders of theguard who guarded the king's palace gate.	10 En lugar de ellos, el rey Roboam hizo unos escudos de bronce, y se los confió a los jefes de los guardias que custodiaban el acceso a la casa del rey.

12 Because King Rehoboam had humbled himself, the retribution of Yahweh turned away from him soas not to destroy him completely; and there were also some good features in Judah.	12 Por haberse humillado, la ira del Señor se apartó de él y no lo destruyó por completo, ya que aún había algo bueno en Judá.
13 Thus he was able to strengthen his position in Jerusalem and continue as king; for Rehoboam wasforty-one years old when he came to the throne and remained king for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the citychosen by Yahweh from al the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother's name was Naamah theAmmonite.	13 El rey Roboam se reafirmó en Jerusalén y siguió reinando. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor eligió entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner su Nombre en ella. 14 But he did wrong in not setting his heart on seeking Yahweh.	14 El obró mal, porque no se empeñó en buscar al Señor de corazón.
15 The history of Rehoboam, from first to last, is this not all written down in the records of Shemaiah theprophet and of Iddo the seer? Warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam went on throughout the period.	15 Los hechos de Roboam, desde el principio hasta el fin, están escritos en las Crónicas del profeta Semaías y del vidente Idó, para ser registrados en las genealogías. 16 When Rehoboam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Abijahsucceeded him.	16 Roboam se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Abías reinó en lugar de él.
