1 The prophet Elisha summoned a member of the prophetic brotherhood to him, 'Hitch up your clothes,take this flask of oil, and go to Ramoth in Gilead.	1 Ma il profeta Eliseo chiamò uno de' figliuoli de' profeti, e gli disse: Cingi i tuoi fianchi, e prendi questa ampolla d'olio in mano, e va a Ramoth di Galaad.
2 When you arrive there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Then, when you find him, telhim to get up and leave his companions, and take him into an inner room.	2 E giunto colà, vedrai Jehu figliuolo di Josaphat, figliuolo di Namsi, e appressandoti a lui. Lo tirerai a parte dall'adunanza de' suoi fratelli, e lo condurrai in una camera rimota.
3 Take the flask of oil then and pour it over his head, and say, "Yahweh says this: I have anointed youking of Israel." Then open the door and flee as fast as you can.'	3 E presa l'ampolla dell'olio, la verserai sul capo di lui, dicendo: Queste cose dice il Signore: Io ti ho unto in re d'Israele. E aprirai la porta, e fuggirai, e non ti fermerai in quel luogo.
4 The young man left for Ramoth in Gilead	4 Il giovine adunque ministro del profeta andò a Ramoth di Galaad,
5 and when he arrived, found the senior officers of the army sitting together. 'I have a message for you,commander,' he said. 'For which of us?' asked Jehu. 'For you, commander,' he answered.	5 E quando ei giunse colà, vide come i principi dell'esercito erano assisi, e disse: Ho da dire una parola a te, o principe. E Jehu disse: A chi di tutti noi? E quegli rispose: A te, o principe.
6 Jehu then got up and went into the house. And the young man poured the oil on his head, saying,'Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "I have anointed you king of Yahweh's people, of Israel.	6 Ed egli si alzò, ed entrò in una camera. Ma quegli versò l'olio sul capo di lui, e disse: Il Signore Dio d'Israele dice così: Io ti ho unto re del popol mio d'Israele.
7 You wil strike down the family of Ahab your master, and I shal avenge the blood of my servants theprophets and al of Yahweh's servants, on Jezebel	7 E sterminerai la casa di Achab tuo signore, e io farò vendetta del sangue de' profeti miei servi, e del sangue di tutti i servi del Signore sopra Jezabele.
8 and on the whole family of Ahab. I shal destroy every manjack of Ahab's family, fettered or free in Israel.	8 E distruggerò tutta la casa di Achab, e ucciderò fino i cani della casa di Achab, e i rinchiusi, e gli ultimi d'Israele.
9 I shal make the House of Ahab like the House of Jeroboam son of Nebat and of Baasha son of Ahijah.	9 E farò della casa di Achab, come della casa di Geroboam figliuolo di Nabath, e come della casa di Baasa figliuolo di Ahia.
10 As for Jezebel, the dogs wil eat her in the field of Jezreel; no one wil bury her." ' With this, he openedthe door and made his escape.	10 E la stessa Jezabele sarà divorata dai cani nella campagna di Jezrael, e non avrà chi le dia sepoltura. Indi egli aperse la porta, e fuggì.
11 Jehu came out to his master's officers. 'Is al wel ?' they asked him. 'Why did this madman come toyou?' 'You know the fel ow and how he talks,' he answered.	11 E Jehu andò dov' erano i servi del suo signore, i quali gli dissero: Va bene ogni cosa? A qual fine è venuto quel pazzo a trovarti? Egli disse loro: Voi conoscete l'uomo, e i suoi discorsi.
12 'Evasion!' they cried, 'Come on, tell us.' He replied, 'He said this and that to me. He said, "Yahweh saysthis: I have anointed you king of Israel." '	12 Ma quelli risposero: Non è vero; ma tu piuttosto fanne a noi il racconto. Ed egli disse loro: Ei mi ha detto questo, e questo, e ha soggiunto: Queste cose dice il Signore: Ti ho unto re sopra Israele.
13 Whereupon they all took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps; they sounded thetrumpet and shouted, 'Jehu is king!'	13 Si alzarono quegli in fretta, e prendendo ciascun di essi il proprio mantello li posero sotto a' piedi di lui,facendo come un tribunale, e sonaron la tromba, e dissero: Jehu è fatto re.
14 Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi plotted against Jehoram. (At the time, Jehoram, with al Israel,was holding Ramoth in Gilead against an attack by Hazael king of Aram,	14 Jehu pertanto figliuolo di Josaphat,figliuolo di Namsi, fece congiura contro Joram. Or Joram con tutto Israele assediava Ramoth di Galaad contro Hazael re della Siria.
15 but King Jehoram had gone back to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received fromthe Aramaeans while he was fighting against Hazael king of Aram.) 'If you agree,' Jehu said, 'let no one leavethe town to go and take the news to Jezreel.'	15 Ed era tornato indietro a Jezrael per farsi curare delle ferite, che avea ricevute dai Siri combattendo contro Hazael re di Siria. Or Jehu disse Se così vi piace, nissuno esca, o si fugga dalla città, affinchè non vada a portar la nuova a Jezrael.
16 Jehu then mounted his chariot and left for Jezreel; Jehoram had taken to his bed there, and Ahaziahking of Judah had gone down to visit him.	16 E si mosse egli, e andò verso Jezrael: perocché ivi si trovava Joram ammalato, e Ochozia re di Giuda era andato per visitare Joram.
17 The lookout posted on the tower of Jezreel saw Jehu's troop approaching. 'I can see a body of men,'he shouted. Jehoram gave the order: 'Have a horseman sent to meet them and ask, "Is al wel ?" '	17 La sentinella pertanto, la quale stava sulla torre di Jezrael, vide la schiera di Jehu, che veniva, e disse: Veggo una schiera. E Joram disse: Si prenda un cocchio, e si mandi alcuno incontro a coloro, e chi anderà, dica loro: Va bene ogni cosa?
18 The horseman went to meet Jehu and said, 'The king says, "Is al wel ?" ' 'What has it to do with youwhether all is well?' Jehu replied. 'Fal in behind me.' The lookout reported, 'The messenger has reached themand is not coming back.'	18 Andò adunque quegli, che era salito sul cocchio, incontro a Jehu, e disse: il re manda a dirti: E' egli il tutto in pace? E Jehu disse: Che importa a te della pace? passa, e vieni dietro a me. E la sentinella diede avviso, e disse: Il messo è arrivato, dove son coloro, ma egli non torna indietro.
19 The king sent a second horseman who reached them and said, 'The king says, "Is al wel ?" ' 'What hasit to do with you whether al is wel ?' Jehu replied. 'Fall in behind me.'	19 E (Joram) mandò anche il secondo cocchio, e il messo arrivò presso a coloro, e disse: Il re ha detto: Abbiam noi pace? Ma Jehu disse: Che importa a te della pace? passa, e vieni dietro a me.
20 The lookout reported, 'He has reached them and is not coming back. The manner of driving is like thatof Jehu son of Nimshi: he drives like a madman.'	20 E la sentinella diede avviso, e disse: (Il messo) è arrivato, dove son coloro, ma egli non torna: or colui, che viene in qua sembra all'andatura Jehu figliuolo di Namsi; perocché cammina a precipizio.
21 'Harness!' Jehoram cried; and they harnessed his chariot. Then Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziahking of Judah, each in his chariot, set out to meet Jehu. They reached him in the field of Naboth of Jezreel.	21 E Joram disse: Si ammannisca il cocchio. E fu ammannito il suo cocchio; e Joram re d'Israele, e Ochozia re di Giuda partirono ciascheduno sul suo cocchio, per andar incontro a Jehu, e lo trovarono nel campo di Naboth Jezraelita.
22 As soon as Jehoram saw Jehu he asked, 'Is al wel , Jehu?' 'What a question!' he replied, 'when al thewhile the prostitutions and countless sorceries of your mother Jezebel go on.'	22 E Joram appena vide Jehu, disse: Jehu, abbiam noi pace? Ma quegli rispose: Che pace? Le fornicazioni, e i molti venefici di Jezabele tua madre menan tuttavia gran rumore.
23 At this, Jehoram wheeled and fled, saying to Ahaziah, 'Treason, Ahaziah!'	23 E Joram voltò indietro, e fuggendo disse ad Ochozia: Tradimenti, o Ochozia.
24 But Jehu had drawn his bow; he struck Jehoram between the shoulder-blades, the arrow went throughthe king's heart, and he sank down in his chariot.	24 Ma Jehu tese il suo arco, e ferì Joram nel mezzo delle spalle, e la saetta gli usci pel cuore, e cadde subitamente sul suo cocchio.
25 'Pick him up,' Jehu said to Bidkar, his equerry, 'and throw him into the field of Naboth of Jezreel.Remember how, when you and I manned a chariot together behind Ahab his father, Yahweh pronounced thissentence against him,	25 E Jehu disse a Badacer capitano: Prendilo, e gettalo nel campo di Naboth Jezraelita; perocché mi ricordo, che quando io, e tu sedendo nel cocchio andavamo dietro ad Achab padre di costui, il Signore pronuncio contro di lui questa sentenza, dicendo:
26 "This I swear. Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons -- Yahweh says this. Andin this same field I shall requite you -- Yahweh says this." So pick him up, and throw him into the field, asYahweh declared should happen!'	26 Io guiro (dice il Signore), che in questo campo farò vendetta sopra di te del sangue ai Naboth, e del sangue de' suoi figliuoli, che io vidi ieri. Ora adunque prendilo, e gettalo nel campo secondo la parola del Signore.
27 When Ahaziah king of Judah saw this, he fled along the Beth-ha-Gan road, but Jehu went in pursuit ofhim. 'Strike him down too,' he said. And they wounded him in his chariot at the slope of Gur, which is nearIbleam, and he took refuge in Megiddo, where he died.	27 Or Ochozia re di Giuda, veduto questo, fuggì per la strada della casa del giardino; e Jehu gli tenne dietro, e disse: Uccidete anche costui sul suo cocchio: e lo ferirono nella salita di Gaver, che è vicino a Jeblaam; e quegli fuggì sino a Mageddo, e ivi si morì.
28 His servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in his tomb in the City of David.	28 E i suoi servi lo posero sul suo cocchio, e lo portarono a Gerusalemme, e lo seppellirono nel sepolcro de' padri suoi nella città di Davidde.
29 Ahaziah had become king of Judah in the eleventh year of Jehoram son of Ahab.	29 L'anno undecimo di Joram figliuolo di Achab, regnò Ochozia sopra Giuda.
30 When Jehu went back to Jezreel, Jezebel was told. She made up her eyes with mascara, adorned herhead and appeared at the window.	30 E Jehu andò a Jezrael. Ma Jezabele avendo saputo il suo arrivo, si diede il belletto agli occhi, e si acconciò il capo, e stava alla finestra per vedere
31 As Jehu came through the gateway she said, 'How did Zimri get on after kil ing his master?'	31 Jehu, che entrava nella porta, e disse: Può egli aver pace Zambri, che ha ucciso il suo signore?
32 Jehu looked up to the window and said, 'Who is on my side? Who?' And two or three officials lookeddown at him.	32 E Jehu alzò il capo verso la finestra, e disse: Chi è colei? E due, o tre eunuchi s'inchinarono a lui.
33 'Throw her down,' he said. They threw her down and her blood spattered the wal s and the horses; andJehu rode over her.	33 Ed egli disse loro: Gettatela a basso. Ed ei la gettarono; e la muraglia fu spruzzata di sangue, e gli zoccoli de' cavalli la calpestarono.
34 He went in and ate and drank, then said, 'See to this accursed woman, and give her burial; after al ,she was a king's daughter.'	34 E quand' egli fu andato in casa per mangiare, e bere, disse; Andate, e abbiate cura di quella sciaurata, e seppellitela; perocché è figliuola di re.
35 But when they went to bury her, they found nothing but her skul , feet and hands.	35 Ed essendo andati quelli per seppellirla, non trovarono se non il cranio, e i piedi, e l'estremità delle mani,
36 They came back and told Jehu, who said, 'This is the word of Yahweh which he spoke through hisservant Elijah the Tishbite, "The dogs wil eat the flesh of Jezebel in the field of Jezreel;	36 E tornarono a riferir ciò a Jehu, ed egli disse: Questo è quello, che il Signore disse per bocca di Elia Thesbite suo servo, allorché pronunziò: I cani mangeran le carni di Jezabele nel campo di Jezrael:
37 the corpse of Jezebel wil be like dung spread on the fields, so that no one wil be able to say: This wasJezebel." '	37 E le carni di Jezabele resteranno come sterco sopra la superficie della terra nel campo di Jezrael, talmente che i passeggieri diranno: E ella costei quella Jezabele?
