1 The prophet Elisha summoned a member of the prophetic brotherhood to him, 'Hitch up your clothes,take this flask of oil, and go to Ramoth in Gilead.	1 Le prophète Élisée appela l’un des frères prophètes, il lui dit: “Mets ta ceinture, emporte cette cruchette d’huile et pars pour Ramot en Galaad.
2 When you arrive there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Then, when you find him, telhim to get up and leave his companions, and take him into an inner room.	2 Une fois arrivé, tu chercheras Jéhu, fils de Yochafat, fils de Nimchi, tu t’approcheras de lui et tu le feras sortir du milieu de ses compagnons. Tu le conduiras dans une chambre à part,
3 Take the flask of oil then and pour it over his head, and say, "Yahweh says this: I have anointed youking of Israel." Then open the door and flee as fast as you can.'	3 puis tu prendras la cruchette d’huile, tu la verseras sur sa tête, et tu diras: ‘Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je t’ai consacré comme roi d’Israël!’ Puis tu ouvriras la porte et tu t’enfuiras sans plus attendre.”
4 The young man left for Ramoth in Gilead	4 Le jeune homme, le jeune prophète, partit donc pour Ramot en Galaad.
5 and when he arrived, found the senior officers of the army sitting together. 'I have a message for you,commander,' he said. 'For which of us?' asked Jehu. 'For you, commander,' he answered.	5 Lorsqu’il arriva, les chefs de l’armée étaient assis ensemble; il dit: “Chef! J’ai un mot à te dire!” Jéhu répondit: “Auquel de nous tous?” Il lui dit: “À toi, chef!”
6 Jehu then got up and went into the house. And the young man poured the oil on his head, saying,'Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "I have anointed you king of Yahweh's people, of Israel.	6 Jéhu se leva et entra dans la maison; alors le frère prophète versa l’huile sur sa tête et lui dit: “Voici ce que dit Yahvé, Dieu d’Israël: Je t’ai consacré comme roi sur le peuple de Yahvé, sur Israël.
7 You wil strike down the family of Ahab your master, and I shal avenge the blood of my servants theprophets and al of Yahweh's servants, on Jezebel	7 Tu frapperas la maison de ton maître Akab. Je veux faire payer à Jézabel le sang de mes serviteurs les prophètes et le sang de tous les serviteurs de Yahvé.
8 and on the whole family of Ahab. I shal destroy every manjack of Ahab's family, fettered or free in Israel.	8 “J’exterminerai toute la maison d’Akab: je retrancherai de la maison d’Akab tous les mâles, aussi bien l’esclave que celui qui est libre en Israël!
9 I shal make the House of Ahab like the House of Jeroboam son of Nebat and of Baasha son of Ahijah.	9 Je ferai pour la maison d’Akab ce que j’ai fait à la maison de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, et à celle de Bacha, fils d’Ahiya!
10 As for Jezebel, the dogs wil eat her in the field of Jezreel; no one wil bury her." ' With this, he openedthe door and made his escape.	10 Les chiens dévoreront Jézabel dans le champ de Yizréel et personne ne l’enterrera!” Alors il ouvrit la porte et prit la fuite.
11 Jehu came out to his master's officers. 'Is al wel ?' they asked him. 'Why did this madman come toyou?' 'You know the fel ow and how he talks,' he answered.	11 Lorsque Jéhu revint vers les officiers de son maître, ils lui demandèrent: “Tout va bien? Pourquoi ce fou cherchait-il après toi?” Il leur répondit: “Vous connaissez déjà le bonhomme et son discours!”
12 'Evasion!' they cried, 'Come on, tell us.' He replied, 'He said this and that to me. He said, "Yahweh saysthis: I have anointed you king of Israel." '	12 Mais ils lui dirent: “Pas du tout. Dis-nous ce qui s’est passé!” Il leur répondit: “Il m’a dit ceci et cela, et il a ajouté: Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je t’ai consacré comme roi sur Israël.”
13 Whereupon they all took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps; they sounded thetrumpet and shouted, 'Jehu is king!'	13 Alors, sans plus attendre, tous jetèrent leurs manteaux sous ses pieds, sur les gradins, puis ils sonnèrent de la trompette et dirent: “Jéhu est roi!”
14 Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi plotted against Jehoram. (At the time, Jehoram, with al Israel,was holding Ramoth in Gilead against an attack by Hazael king of Aram,	14 Voici maintenant comment Jéhu, fils de Yochafat, fils de Nimchi, conspira contre Joram. Joram, avec tout Israël, défendait Ramot-en-Galaad contre Hazaël, roi d’Aram.
15 but King Jehoram had gone back to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received fromthe Aramaeans while he was fighting against Hazael king of Aram.) 'If you agree,' Jehu said, 'let no one leavethe town to go and take the news to Jezreel.'	15 Mais le roi Joram était venu se faire soigner à Yizréel, car il avait été blessé par les Araméens lorsqu’il combattait contre Hazaël, roi d’Aram. Jéhu dit alors: “Si vous êtes d’accord, que personne ne s’échappe de la ville pour porter la nouvelle à Yizréel.”
16 Jehu then mounted his chariot and left for Jezreel; Jehoram had taken to his bed there, and Ahaziahking of Judah had gone down to visit him.	16 Jéhu monta sur son char et partit pour Yizréel. Joram était au lit et Okozias, roi de Juda, était venu lui rendre visite.
17 The lookout posted on the tower of Jezreel saw Jehu's troop approaching. 'I can see a body of men,'he shouted. Jehoram gave the order: 'Have a horseman sent to meet them and ask, "Is al wel ?" '	17 Le guetteur qui se tenait sur la tour de Yizréel aperçut la troupe qui venait avec Jéhu; il dit alors: “Je vois une troupe.” Joram lui dit: “Prends un cavalier, envoie-le à leur rencontre et il leur demandera s’ils viennent en amis.”
18 The horseman went to meet Jehu and said, 'The king says, "Is al wel ?" ' 'What has it to do with youwhether all is well?' Jehu replied. 'Fal in behind me.' The lookout reported, 'The messenger has reached themand is not coming back.'	18 Le cavalier partit donc à leur rencontre et dit: “Voici ce que dit le roi: Venez-vous en amis?” Jéhu répondit: “Qu’est-ce que cela peut te faire? Fais demi-tour et suis-moi.” Le guetteur avertit le roi: “Le messager les a rejoints mais il ne revient pas.”
19 The king sent a second horseman who reached them and said, 'The king says, "Is al wel ?" ' 'What hasit to do with you whether al is wel ?' Jehu replied. 'Fall in behind me.'	19 On envoya un second cavalier qui rejoignit la troupe; il leur dit: “Voici ce que dit le roi: Venez-vous en amis?” Jéhu répondit: “Qu’est-ce que cela peut te faire? Fais demi-tour et suis-moi.”
20 The lookout reported, 'He has reached them and is not coming back. The manner of driving is like thatof Jehu son of Nimshi: he drives like a madman.'	20 Le guetteur avertit le roi en disant: “Il les a rejoints et il ne revient pas. Mais la façon de conduire est celle de Jéhu, fils de Nimchi: il conduit comme un fou.”
21 'Harness!' Jehoram cried; and they harnessed his chariot. Then Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziahking of Judah, each in his chariot, set out to meet Jehu. They reached him in the field of Naboth of Jezreel.	21 Alors Joram dit: “Attelle!” Et l’on attela son char. Joram, roi d’Israël et Okozias, roi de Juda sortirent chacun sur son char pour aller à la rencontre de Jéhu; ils le rencontrèrent dans le champ de Nabot de Yizréel.
22 As soon as Jehoram saw Jehu he asked, 'Is al wel , Jehu?' 'What a question!' he replied, 'when al thewhile the prostitutions and countless sorceries of your mother Jezebel go on.'	22 Dès que Joram aperçut Jéhu, il lui dit: “Viens-tu en ami, Jéhu?” Mais celui-ci répondit: “Quelle paix peut-il y avoir tant que durent les prostitutions de ta mère Jézabel et ses nombreuses sorcelleries?”
23 At this, Jehoram wheeled and fled, saying to Ahaziah, 'Treason, Ahaziah!'	23 Joram fit demi-tour et prit la fuite, il cria à Okozias: “Nous sommes trahis, Okozias!”
24 But Jehu had drawn his bow; he struck Jehoram between the shoulder-blades, the arrow went throughthe king's heart, and he sank down in his chariot.	24 Jéhu avait bandé son arc, il frappa Joram entre les épaules et la flèche traversa le cœur: le roi s’écroula dans son char.
25 'Pick him up,' Jehu said to Bidkar, his equerry, 'and throw him into the field of Naboth of Jezreel.Remember how, when you and I manned a chariot together behind Ahab his father, Yahweh pronounced thissentence against him,	25 Jéhu dit alors à son écuyer Bidkar: “Emporte-le et jette-le dans le champ de Nabot de Yizréel! Rappelle-toi cette parole que Yahvé a prononcée contre lui, lorsque toi et moi nous chevauchions derrière son père Akab:
26 "This I swear. Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons -- Yahweh says this. Andin this same field I shall requite you -- Yahweh says this." So pick him up, and throw him into the field, asYahweh declared should happen!'	26 J’ai vu hier le sang de Nabot et le sang de ses fils - oracle de Yahvé - je te le ferai payer dans ce champ. Emporte-le donc et jette-le dans le champ, comme a dit Yahvé.”
27 When Ahaziah king of Judah saw this, he fled along the Beth-ha-Gan road, but Jehu went in pursuit ofhim. 'Strike him down too,' he said. And they wounded him in his chariot at the slope of Gur, which is nearIbleam, and he took refuge in Megiddo, where he died.	27 En voyant tout cela, Okozias roi de Juda avait pris la fuite par le chemin de Beth-Ha-Gan. Jéhu le poursuivit: “Tuez-le lui aussi!” criait-il. On le frappa sur son char à la montée de Gour, près de Yibléam; il se réfugia à Méguiddo et c’est là qu’il mourut.
28 His servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in his tomb in the City of David.	28 Ses serviteurs le ramenèrent en char à Jérusalem et le déposèrent dans son tombeau, dans la Cité de David.
29 Ahaziah had become king of Judah in the eleventh year of Jehoram son of Ahab.	29 Okozias était devenu roi de Juda dans la onzième année de Joram, fils d’Akab.
30 When Jehu went back to Jezreel, Jezebel was told. She made up her eyes with mascara, adorned herhead and appeared at the window.	30 Jéhu entra dans Yizréel: Jézabel savait déjà la nouvelle. Elle se farda les yeux, arrangea sa coiffure et se mit à la fenêtre.
31 As Jehu came through the gateway she said, 'How did Zimri get on after kil ing his master?'	31 Comme Jéhu passait la porte de la ville, elle lui dit: “Tout va bien, Zimri, assassin de son maître?”
32 Jehu looked up to the window and said, 'Who is on my side? Who?' And two or three officials lookeddown at him.	32 Il leva la tête vers la fenêtre et cria: “Qui est avec moi?” Deux ou trois serviteurs se penchèrent aussitôt.
33 'Throw her down,' he said. They threw her down and her blood spattered the wal s and the horses; andJehu rode over her.	33 Il leur dit: “Jetez-la par la fenêtre!” Et ils la jetèrent. Son sang gicla sur le mur et sur les chevaux qui la piétinèrent.
34 He went in and ate and drank, then said, 'See to this accursed woman, and give her burial; after al ,she was a king's daughter.'	34 Jéhu rentra ensuite, il mangea et il but; après quoi il dit: “Occupez-vous de cette maudite et mettez-la au tombeau, car c’est une fille de roi.”
35 But when they went to bury her, they found nothing but her skul , feet and hands.	35 Les serviteurs allèrent pour la déposer dans le tombeau, mais ils ne retrouvèrent que le crâne, les pieds et les mains.
36 They came back and told Jehu, who said, 'This is the word of Yahweh which he spoke through hisservant Elijah the Tishbite, "The dogs wil eat the flesh of Jezebel in the field of Jezreel;	36 Ils revinrent le dire à Jéhu, qui déclara: “C’est la parole de Yahvé qui vient de s’accomplir; il avait fait dire par son serviteur Élie, de Tichbé: Les chiens mangeront le corps de Jézabel dans le champ de Yizréel.
37 the corpse of Jezebel wil be like dung spread on the fields, so that no one wil be able to say: This wasJezebel." '	37 Le cadavre de Jézabel sera comme du fumier répandu et l’on ne pourra même plus dire: C’est Jézabel.”
