1 'Listen to the word of Yahweh,' Elisha said. 'Yahweh says this, "By this time tomorrow a measure offinest flour wil sel for one shekel, and two measures of barley for one shekel, at the gate of Samaria." '	1 Ma Eliseo disse: Udite la parola del Signore: Queste cose dice il Signore: Domani a quest'ora il moggio di fior di farina sarà al prezzo di uno statere, e due moggia d'orzo per uno statere, alla porta di Samaria.
2 The equerry on whose arm the king was leaning retorted to Elisha, 'Even if Yahweh made windows inthe sky, could this word come true?' 'You wil see it with your own eyes,' Elisha replied, 'though you will eat noneof it.'	2 Uno dei capitani, il quale era bracciere del re, rispose all'uom di Dio, e disse: Se il Signore aprisse le cataratte del cielo, può egli mai essere quel, che tu dici? Ed egli disse: Lo vedrai cogli occhi tuoi, ma non ne mangerai.
3 Now at the entrance to the gate -- for they were afflicted with virulent skin-disease -- there were four men and they debated among themselves, 'Why sit here waiting for death?	3 Or eranvi quattro uomini lebbrosi presso all'entrar della porta; i quali dissero tra di loro: Perchè vogliam noi restar qui finché muoiamo?
4 If we decide to go into the city, what with the famine in it, we shal die there; if we stay where we are, weshall die just the same. Come on, let us go over to the Aramaean camp; if they spare our lives, we live; if they kilus, wel , then we die.'	4 Se penserem di entrare in città, morremo di fame, se resteremo qui, dobbiam morire: su via fuggiamo agli alloggiamenti dei Siri: s'eglino avran compassione di noi, camperemo: se ci vorranno uccidere, anche senza questo noi morremmo.
5 So at dusk they set out and made for the Aramaean camp, but when they reached the confines of thecamp there was not a soul there.	5 La sera adunque si mossero, per andare al campo dei Siri; e giunti che furono all'entrare del campo dei Siri, non vi trovaron anima.
6 For Yahweh had caused the Aramaeans in their camp to hear a noise of chariots and horses, the noiseof a great army; and they had said to one another, 'Listen! The king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptiankings against us, to attack us.'	6 Imperocché il Signore avea fatto udire nel campo dei Siri rumor di cocchi, e di cavalli, e di grandissimo esercito, ond'ei dissero tra di loro: Senz'altro il re d'Israele ha contro di noi comperato con denaro gli aiuti dei regi degli Hethei, e degli Egiziani, e questi ci vengono addosso.
7 So in the dusk they had made off and fled, abandoning their tents, their horses and their donkeys;leaving the camp just as it was, they had fled for their lives.	7 Quindi si levarono su, e al buio si fuggirono, abbandonate le loro tende, e i cavalli, e gli asini negli alloggiamenti, pensando solamente a salvare le loro vite colla fuga.
8 The men with skin-disease, then, reached the confines of the camp. They went into one of the tents andate and drank, and from it carried off silver and gold and clothing; these they took and hid. Then they came backand, entering another tent, looted it too, and took and hid their booty.	8 Dopo adunque che quei lebbrosi furono arrivati all'ingresso del campo, entrarono in un padiglione, e mangiarono, e bevvero, e ne presero l'argento, e l'oro, e le vesti, e andarono a nasconderle; e di poi tornarono in un'altra tenda, e la preda, che parimente ivi fecero, la nascosero.
9 Then they said to one another, 'We are doing wrong. This is a day of good news, yet we are holding ourtongues! If we wait til morning, we shal certainly be punished. Come on, let us go and take the news to thepalace.'	9 Ma dissero tra di loro: Noi non operiamo rettamente: perocché questo è giorno di buona novella: se noi taceremo, e non porterem la nuova sino al mattino, sarem giudicati per rei: su via andiamo, e rechiamone avviso al palazzo del re.
10 Off they went and shouted out to the guards on the city gate, 'We have been to the Aramaean camp.There was not a soul there, no sound of anyone, only tethered horses and tethered donkeys, and their tents justas they were.'	10 Giunti adunque alla porta della città diedero l'avviso, dicendo: Siamo andati al campo de' Siri, e non vi abbiam trovato alcun uomo, ma solo i cavalli, e gli asini legati, e le tende in piedi.
11 The gatekeepers shouted the news, which was reported inside the palace.	11 Andarono adunque le guardie della porta, e portarono tal nuova al re dentro nel palazzo.
12 The king got up while it was still dark and said to his officers, 'I can tel you what the Aramaeans havedone to us. They know we are starving, so they have left the camp to hide in the open country. "They wil comeout of the city," they think, "we shall catch them alive and get into the city." '	12 Ed egli si levò che era ancor notte e disse a' suoi servi: Vi dirò quello, che hanno con noi fatto i Siri: Sanno, che si patisce la fame, e per questo sono usciti fuori del loro accampamento, e si sono ascosi pe' campi, dicendo: Coloro usciranno dalla città, e li prenderemo vivi, e allora potremo entrar nella città.
13 One of his officers replied, 'Five of the surviving horses stil left us had better be taken -- they would diein any case like al the rest. Let us send them and see.'	13 Ma uno de' suoi servi rispose: Prendiamo i cinque cavalli, che son rimasi nella città (perocché di tanto numero, che n'erano in Israele, non vi son più se non questi, essendo stati consunti gli altri), e manderemo, e potremo fare la scoperta.
14 So they took two chariot teams and the king sent them after the Aramaean army, saying, 'Go and see.'	14 Furono pertanto condotti due cavalli, e il re mandò (due uomini) agli alloggiamenti dei Sin, dicendo: Andate, e osservate.
15 They fol owed them as far as the Jordan, finding the whole way strewn with clothes and gear which theAramaeans had thrown away in their panic. The scouts returned and informed the king.	15 E quegli andarono seguendo le tracce dei Siri fino al Giordano: e vi dero come tutta la strada era seminata di vesti, e di vasi gettati via dai Siri nello scompiglio; e i messi tornarono, e riferirono la cosa al re.
16 Then the people went out and plundered the Aramaean camp: a measure of finest flour sold for oneshekel, and two measures of barley for one shekel, as Yahweh had promised they would.	16 E il popolo uscì fuora, e saccheggiò il campo dei Siri; e il moggio di or di farina venne a uno statere, e due moggia d'orzo a uno statere, secondo la parola del Signore.
17 The king had detailed the equerry, on whose arm he leaned, as commander of the guard on the gate,but the people trampled on him in the gateway and he died, as the man of God had foretold when the king hadcome down to him.	17 Or quel capitano, che era stato bracciere del re, era stato messo da lui alla porta, e fu conculcato dalla folla all'entrar della porta, e morì, secondo la parola detta dall'uom di Dio, quando il re era andato a trovarlo.
18 (What Elisha had said to the king came true, 'Two measures of barley wil sel for one shekel, and ameasure of finest flour for one shekel, by this time tomorrow at the gate of Samaria.'	18 E si adempì la promessa fatta dall'uom di Dio, quando disse al re: Due moggia d'orzo domani a quest'ora saranno al prezzo di uno statere, e un moggio di fior di farina al prezzo di uno statere alla porta di Samaria:
19 And the equerry in question had replied to the man of God, 'Even if Yahweh made windows in the sky,could this word come true?' 'You wil see it with your own eyes,' Elisha had answered, 'though you wil eat noneof it.'	19 Quando quel capitano rispose all'uom di Dio, e disse: Quand' anche il Signore apprisse le cataratte del cielo, potrà egli mai essere quel, che tu dici? Ed ei gli disse: Lo vedrai cogli occhi tuoi, ma non ne mangerai
20 And that was what happened to him: for the people trampled on him in the gateway and he died.)	20 Avvenne pertanto a lui, come era stato predetto, e il popolo lo conculcò alla porta, ed ei si mori.
