1 'Listen to the word of Yahweh,' Elisha said. 'Yahweh says this, "By this time tomorrow a measure offinest flour wil sel for one shekel, and two measures of barley for one shekel, at the gate of Samaria." '	1 Allora Eliseo disse: Ascoltate la parola del Signore: Così ha detto il Signore: Domani a quest’ora lo staio del fior di farina si avrà per un siclo, e le due staia dell’orzo altresì per un siclo, alla porta di Samaria.
2 The equerry on whose arm the king was leaning retorted to Elisha, 'Even if Yahweh made windows inthe sky, could this word come true?' 'You wil see it with your own eyes,' Elisha replied, 'though you will eat noneof it.'	2 Ma il capitano, sopra la cui mano il re si appoggiava, rispose all’uomo di Dio, e disse: Ecco, avvegnachè il Signore facesse delle cateratte nel cielo, questo però potrebbe egli avvenire? Ed Eliseo gli disse: Ecco, tu il vedrai con gli occhi, ma non ne mangerai
3 Now at the entrance to the gate -- for they were afflicted with virulent skin-disease -- there were four men and they debated among themselves, 'Why sit here waiting for death?	3 Or all’entrata della porta vi erano quattro uomini lebbrosi; ed essi dissero l’uno all’altro: Perchè ce ne stiamo qui finchè siamo morti?
4 If we decide to go into the city, what with the famine in it, we shal die there; if we stay where we are, weshall die just the same. Come on, let us go over to the Aramaean camp; if they spare our lives, we live; if they kilus, wel , then we die.'	4 Se diciamo di entrare nella città, la fame vi è, e noi vi morremo; se stiamo qui, morremo altresì; ora dunque venite, e andiamoci ad arrendere al campo de’ Siri; se ci lasciano in vita, viveremo; e se pur ci fanno morire, morremo.
5 So at dusk they set out and made for the Aramaean camp, but when they reached the confines of thecamp there was not a soul there.	5 Così si levarono al vespro, per entrare nel campo de’ Siri; e venuti fino allo stremo del campo, ecco, non vi era alcuno.
6 For Yahweh had caused the Aramaeans in their camp to hear a noise of chariots and horses, the noiseof a great army; and they had said to one another, 'Listen! The king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptiankings against us, to attack us.'	6 Perciocchè il Signore avea fatto risonar nel campo de’ Siri un romore di carri, e di cavalli, e di un grande esercito; laonde aveano detto l’uno all’altro: Ecco, il re d’Israele ha soldati contro a noi i re degli Hittei, e i re degli Egizj, per venire incontro a noi.
7 So in the dusk they had made off and fled, abandoning their tents, their horses and their donkeys;leaving the camp just as it was, they had fled for their lives.	7 E si erano levati, ed erano fuggiti in sul vespro, e aveano lasciati i lor padiglioni, e i lor cavalli, e i loro asini, e il campo, nello stato ch’egli era; ed erano fuggiti chi qua chi là, secondo il volere di ciascuno.
8 The men with skin-disease, then, reached the confines of the camp. They went into one of the tents andate and drank, and from it carried off silver and gold and clothing; these they took and hid. Then they came backand, entering another tent, looted it too, and took and hid their booty.	8 Que’ lebbrosi adunque, venuti fino allo stremo del campo, entrarono in una tenda, e mangiarono, e bevvero, e tolsero di là argento, ed oro, e vestimenti, e andarono, e nascosero quelle cose; poi tornarono, ed entrarono in un’altra tenda, e tolsero ancora di là di quelle stesse cose, e andarono, e le nascosero.
9 Then they said to one another, 'We are doing wrong. This is a day of good news, yet we are holding ourtongues! If we wait til morning, we shal certainly be punished. Come on, let us go and take the news to thepalace.'	9 Ma poi dissero l’uno all’altro: Noi non facciamo bene; questo giorno è un giorno di buone novelle, e noi tacciamo! Se aspettiamo fino allo schiarir del dì, noi riceveremo la pena del nostro fallo; ora dunque venite, e andiamo a rapportar la cosa alla casa del re.
10 Off they went and shouted out to the guards on the city gate, 'We have been to the Aramaean camp.There was not a soul there, no sound of anyone, only tethered horses and tethered donkeys, and their tents justas they were.'	10 Così vennero, e gridarono alle guardie della porta della città, e fecero loro assapere la cosa, dicendo: Noi siamo entrati nel campo dei Siri, ed ecco, non vi è alcuno, nè voce alcuna d’uomo; ma sol vi sono i cavalli, e gli asini legati, e i padiglioni, come erano prima.
11 The gatekeepers shouted the news, which was reported inside the palace.	11 Allora le guardie della porta gridarono, e fecero assapere la cosa nella casa del re
12 The king got up while it was still dark and said to his officers, 'I can tel you what the Aramaeans havedone to us. They know we are starving, so they have left the camp to hide in the open country. "They wil comeout of the city," they think, "we shall catch them alive and get into the city." '	12 E il re si levò di notte, e disse a’ suoi servitori: Ora io vi dichiarerò quello che i Siri ci hanno fatto; hanno saputo che noi siamo affamati, e per ciò sono usciti del campo, per nascondersi per la campagna, dicendo: Quando saranno usciti della città, noi li prenderemo vivi, ed entreremo nella città.
13 One of his officers replied, 'Five of the surviving horses stil left us had better be taken -- they would diein any case like al the rest. Let us send them and see.'	13 Ma uno de’ servitori del re rispose, e disse: Deh! prendansi cinque di que’ cavalli che son rimasti nella città ecco, sono come tutta la moltitudine d’Israele ch’è rimasta in esso; come tutta la moltitudine d’Israele ch’è perita; e mandiamo a vedere che cosa è.
14 So they took two chariot teams and the king sent them after the Aramaean army, saying, 'Go and see.'	14 Presero adunque due coppie di cavalli; e il re mandò degli uomini sopra quelli, dietro al campo de’ Siri, dicendo: Andate, e vedete.
15 They fol owed them as far as the Jordan, finding the whole way strewn with clothes and gear which theAramaeans had thrown away in their panic. The scouts returned and informed the king.	15 E coloro andarono dietro a’ Siri, fino al Giordano; ed ecco, tutta la via era piena di vestimenti e d’arnesi, che i Siri aveano gittati via, affrettandosi di fuggire. E que’ messi ritornarono, e rapportarono il fatto al re.
16 Then the people went out and plundered the Aramaean camp: a measure of finest flour sold for oneshekel, and two measures of barley for one shekel, as Yahweh had promised they would.	16 Allora il popolo uscì, e predò il campo de’ Siri; e lo staio del fior di farina si ebbe per un siclo, e le due staia dell’orzo altresì per un siclo, secondo la parola del Signore.
17 The king had detailed the equerry, on whose arm he leaned, as commander of the guard on the gate,but the people trampled on him in the gateway and he died, as the man of God had foretold when the king hadcome down to him.	17 E il re costituì alla guardia della porta il capitano, sopra la cui mano egli si appoggiava; e il popolo lo calpestò nella porta, onde egli morì, secondo che l’uomo di Dio avea detto, quando parlò al re, allora ch’egli scese a lui.
18 (What Elisha had said to the king came true, 'Two measures of barley wil sel for one shekel, and ameasure of finest flour for one shekel, by this time tomorrow at the gate of Samaria.'	18 Perciocchè, quando l’uomo di Dio parlò al re, dicendo: Domani, a quest’ora, lo staio del fior di farina si avrà alla porta di Samaria per un siclo, e le due staia dell’orzo altresì per un siclo,
19 And the equerry in question had replied to the man of God, 'Even if Yahweh made windows in the sky,could this word come true?' 'You wil see it with your own eyes,' Elisha had answered, 'though you wil eat noneof it.'	19 quel capitano avea risposto all’uomo di Dio, ed avea detto: Ecco, avvegnachè il Signore facesse delle cateratte nel cielo, questo potrebbe egli però avvenire? Ed egli gli avea detto: Ecco, tu il vedrai con gli occhi tuoi, ma tu non ne mangerai.
20 And that was what happened to him: for the people trampled on him in the gateway and he died.)	20 E così gli avvenne; perciocchè il popolo lo calpestò nella porta, ed egli morì
