1 After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrested. . .	1 Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò, prendendo di mano ai Filistei Gat e le sue dipendenze.
2 He also defeated the Moabites and, making them lie on the ground, measured them off by the line; hemeasured out two lines to be put to death and one ful line to have their lives spared. The Moabites becameDavid's subjects and paid him tribute.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti, li misurò con la fune facendoli giacere a terra: ne misurò due funi da uccidere e un'altra fune completa da lasciare in vita. Così Moab diventò servo di Davide e pagò il tributo.
3 David defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when the latter mounted an expedition toextend his power over the River.	3 Poi Davide sconfisse Adad-E'zer, figlio di Recòb, re di Zobà, quando andava a ristabilire il suo potere sul Fiume.
4 David captured one thousand seven hundred charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers from him;David hamstrung all the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.	4 Davide gli catturò mille e settecento cavalieri e ventimila fanti, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli lasciandone solo cento capi.
5 The Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer king of Zobah, but David kil ed twenty-two thousand of the Aramaeans.	5 Allora Aram di Damasco corse in aiuto di Adad-E'zer, re di Zobà, ma Davide uccise ventiduemila uomini di Aram.
6 David then imposed governors on Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans became David's subjectsand paid him tribute. Wherever David went, Yahweh gave him victory.	6 Davide pose prefetti in Aram di Damasco e Aram diventò servo di Davide e pagò il tributo. Così il Signore diede a Davide la vittoria dovunque andò.
7 David took the golden shields carried by Hadadezer's guards and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese gli scudi d'oro che appartenevano ai servi di Adad-E'zer e li portò a Gerusalemme.
8 From Betah and Berothai, towns belonging to Hadadezer, King David captured a great quantity ofbronze.	8 Inoltre da Bètach e da Berotài, città di Adad-E'zer, il re Davide portò via moltissimo bronzo.
9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated Hadadezer's entire army,	9 Quando Toù, re di Camat, udì che Davide aveva sconfitto tutte le forze di Adad-E'zer,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him on having made war onHadadezer and on having defeated him, since Hadadezer was at war with Tou. Hadoram brought with himobjects made of silver, gold and bronze,	10 mandò suo figlio Adduràm dal re Davide a porgere saluti e benedizione per aver combattuto contro Adad-E'zer e averlo sconfitto. Adad-E'zer infatti era stato più volte in guerra con Toù. Adduràm portò con sé oggetti d'argento, d'oro e di bronzo.
11 which King David also consecrated to Yahweh, as he had already consecrated the silver and goldtaken from al the nations which he had subjugated-	11 Il re Davide consacrò anche questi al Signore, insieme con tutto l'argento e l'oro che aveva consacrato, proveniente da tutti i popoli che aveva soggiogato:
12 from Aram, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and Amalek; and from the spoil of Hadadezer son ofRehob, king of Zobah.	12 da Aram, da Moab, dagli Ammoniti, dai Filistei, da Amalek e dal bottino di Adad-E'zer, figlio di Recòb, re di Zobà.
13 David became famous when he came home from defeating the Edomites in the Valley of Salt --eighteen thousand of them.	13 Davide si fece un nome al suo ritorno sconfiggendo diciottomila Idumei nella Valle del Sale.
14 He imposed governors on Edom and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.	14 Pose prefetti in Edom: in tutta la regione pose dei prefetti; e l'intero Edom diventò servo di Davide. Così il Signore diede a Davide la vittoria dovunque andò.
15 David ruled over al Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.	15 Davide fu re su tutto Israele e amministrò rettamente la giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;	16 Ioab, figlio di Zeruià, era capo dell'esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Achilùd, segretario;
17 Zadok and Abiathar son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, were priests; Seraiah was secretary;	17 Zadòk, figlio di Achitùb, ed Ebiatàr, figlio di Achimelech, erano sacerdoti; Seraià scriba;
18 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites; David's sons werepriests.	18 Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, capo dei Cretei e dei Peletei; e i figli di Davide erano ministri.
