1 After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrested. . .	1 - Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò e prese dalle mani dei Filistei il comando della fortezza.
2 He also defeated the Moabites and, making them lie on the ground, measured them off by the line; hemeasured out two lines to be put to death and one ful line to have their lives spared. The Moabites becameDavid's subjects and paid him tribute.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti e distesili per terra, li misurò con una corda e ne misurò due parti, una di quelli che dovevano essere uccisi e l'altra di quelli che dovevano conservarsi in vita. E Moab divenne tributario di Davide.
3 David defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when the latter mounted an expedition toextend his power over the River.	3 Davide sconfisse anche Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba, allorchè questi partì per dominare sul fiume Eufrate.
4 David captured one thousand seven hundred charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers from him;David hamstrung all the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.	4 Davide gli prese millesettecento cavalieri e ventimila pedoni, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro e si riservò [dei cavalli] per cento carri.
5 The Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer king of Zobah, but David kil ed twenty-two thousand of the Aramaeans.	5 Anche la Siria di Damasco era venuta in aiuto di Adarezer re di Soba, e Davide sconfisse ventiduemila Siri,
6 David then imposed governors on Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans became David's subjectsand paid him tribute. Wherever David went, Yahweh gave him victory.	6 e posto nella Siria di Damasco un presidio, si assoggettò la Siria e la sottopose ad un tributo. Il Signore poi conservò Davide in tutti i luoghi dove era andato.
7 David took the golden shields carried by Hadadezer's guards and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese le armi d'oro che avevano i servi di Adarezer le portò a Gerusalemme.
8 From Betah and Berothai, towns belonging to Hadadezer, King David captured a great quantity ofbronze.	8 Parimenti, da Bete e da Berot, città di Adarezer, Davide portò via gran quantità di rame.

11 which King David also consecrated to Yahweh, as he had already consecrated the silver and goldtaken from al the nations which he had subjugated-	11 e anche questi furono dal re Davide consacrati al Signore, come già aveva consacrato l'argento e l'oro preso alle nazioni da lui soggiogate,
12 from Aram, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and Amalek; and from the spoil of Hadadezer son ofRehob, king of Zobah.	12 cioè alla Siria, a Moab, ai figli di Ammon, ai Filistei, agli Amaleciti e al bottino di Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba.
13 David became famous when he came home from defeating the Edomites in the Valley of Salt --eighteen thousand of them.	13 Davide acquistò pure molta celebrità quando, di ritorno dall'aver soggiogata la Siria, sconfisse nella valle delle Saline, diciottomila uomini.
14 He imposed governors on Edom and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.	14 Anche nella Idumea collocò guarnigioni e stabilì un presidio e tutta l'Idumea fu soggetta a Davide. Il Signore poi protesse Davide in tutti i luoghi dove andò.
15 David ruled over al Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.	15 Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele e rendeva ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;	16 Joab figliuolo di Sarvia comandava all'esercito; Josafat figlio di Ailud faceva da istoriografo,
17 Zadok and Abiathar son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, were priests; Seraiah was secretary;	17 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Achimelec figlio di Abiatar erano sacerdoti, Saraia era lo scriba,
18 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites; David's sons werepriests.	18 Banaia figlio di Joiada era capo dei Ceretei e dei Feletei, mentre i figli di Davide fungevano da Ministri.
