1 Two years later it happened that Pharaoh had a dream: there he was, standing by the Nile,	1 ED avvenne, in capo di due anni intieri, che Faraone sognò, e gli pareva di essere presso al fiume.
2 and there, coming up from the Nile, were seven cows, sleek and fat, and they began to feed amongthe rushes.	2 Ed ecco, dal fiume salivano sette vacche di bella apparenza, e grasse, e carnose, e pasturavano nella giuncaia.
3 And then seven other cows, wretched and lean, came up from the Nile, behind them; and these wentover and stood beside the other cows on the bank of the Nile.	3 Poi ecco, dal fiume salivano sette altre vacche di brutta apparenza, e magre, e scarne; e si fermarono presso a quelle altre in su la riva del fiume.
4 The wretched and lean cows ate the seven sleek and fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up.	4 E le vacche di brutta apparenza, e magre, e scarne, mangiarono le sette vacche di bella apparenza, e grasse. E Faraone si risvegliò.
5 He fel asleep and dreamed a second time: there, growing on one stalk, were seven ears of grain, fulland ripe.	5 Poi, raddormentatosi, sognò di nuovo: ed ecco, sette spighe prospere, e belle, salivano da un gambo.
6 And then sprouting up, behind them, came seven ears of grain, meagre and scorched by the eastwind.	6 Poi ecco, sette altre spighe minute, ed arse dal vento orientale, germogliavano dopo quelle.
7 The scanty ears of grain swal owed the seven ful and ripe ears of grain. Then Pharaoh woke up; ithad been a dream.	7 E le spighe minute tranghiottirono le sette spighe prospere e piene. E Faraone si risvegliò; ed ecco un sogno.
8 In the morning Pharaoh, feeling disturbed, had all the magicians and wise men of Egypt summoned tohim. Pharaoh told them his dream, but there was no one to interpret it for Pharaoh.	8 E venuta la mattina, lo spirito suo fu conturbato; e mandò a chiamar tutti i Magi ed i Savi d’Egitto, e raccontò loro i suoi sogni; ma non vi fu alcuno che li potesse interpretare a Faraone
9 Then the chief cup-bearer addressed Pharaoh, 'Today, I recal having been at fault.	9 Allora il coppier maggiore parlò a Faraone, dicendo: Io mi rammemoro oggi i miei falli.
10 When Pharaoh was angry with his servants, he put myself and the chief baker in custody in thehouse of the commander of the guard.	10 Faraone si crucciò già gravemente contro a’ suoi servitori, e mise me e il panattier maggiore in prigione, in casa del Capitan delle guardie.
11 We had a dream on the same night, he and I, and each man's dream had a meaning for himself.	11 E sognammo egli ed io, in una stessa notte ciascuno un sogno; noi sognammo ciascuno il suo sogno, conveniente all’interpretazione che ne fu data.
12 There was a young Hebrew with us, one of the slaves belonging to the commander of the guard. Wetold our dreams to him and he interpreted them for us, tel ing each of us what his dream meant.	12 Or quivi con noi era un giovane Ebreo, servitor del Capitan delle guardie, al quale noi raccontammo i nostri sogni, ed egli ce l’interpretò, dando la interpretazione a ciascuno secondo il suo sogno.
13 It turned out exactly according to his interpretation: I was restored to my position, but the other manwas hanged.'	13 Ed avvenne che, secondo l’interpretazione ch’egli ci avea data, Faraone mi rimise nel mio stato, e fece appiccar quell’altro.
14 Then Pharaoh had Joseph summoned, and they hurried him from the dungeon. He shaved andchanged his clothes, and presented himself before Pharaoh.	14 Allora Faraone mandò a chiamar Giuseppe, il quale prestamente fu tratto fuor della fossa; ed egli si tondè, e si cambiò i vestimenti, e venne a Faraone.
15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'I have had a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. But I have heard itsaid of you that you can interpret a dream the instant you hear it.'	15 E Faraone disse a Giuseppe: Io ho sognato un sogno, e non vi è niuno che l’interpreti; or io ho udito dir di te, che tu intendi i sogni, per interpretarli.
16 'Not I,' Joseph replied to Pharaoh, 'God wil give Pharaoh a favourable answer.'	16 E Giuseppe rispose a Faraone, dicendo: V’è altri che me; Iddio risponderà ciò che sarà per la prosperità di Faraone
17 So Pharaoh told Joseph, 'In my dream there I was, standing on the bank of the Nile.	17 E Faraone disse a Giuseppe: E’ mi pareva nel mio sogno che io stava presso alla riva del fiume.
18 And there were seven cows, fat and sleek, coming up out of the Nile, and they began to feed amongthe rushes.	18 Ed ecco, dal fiume salivano sette vacche, grasse, e carnose, e di bella apparenza, e pasturavano nella giuncaia.
19 And then seven other cows came up, behind them, starved, very wretched and lean; I have neverseen such poor cows in all Egypt.	19 Poi ecco, sette altre vacche salivano dietro a quelle, magre, e di bruttissima apparenza, e scarne; io non ne vidi mai di così misere in tutto il paese di Egitto.
20 The lean and wretched cows ate up the first seven fat cows.	20 E le vacche magre, e misere, mangiarono le sette prime vacche grasse.
21 But when they had eaten them up, it was impossible to tel they had eaten them, for they looked aswretched as ever. Then I woke up.	21 E quelle entrarono loro in corpo; ma pur non se ne riconobbe nulla; conciossiachè fossero di così brutto aspetto, come prima. Ed io mi risvegliai.
22 And then again in my dream, there, growing on one stalk, were seven ears of grain, beautiful y ripe;	22 E’ mi parve ancora, sognando, veder sette spighe piene e belle, che salivano da un gambo.
23 but then sprouting up behind them came seven ears of grain, withered, meagre and scorched by theeast wind.	23 Poi ecco, sette altre spighe aride, minute, arse dal vento orientale, germogliarono dopo quelle.
24 Then the shrivel ed ears of grain swal owed the seven ripe ears of grain. I have told the magicians,but no one has given me the answer.'	24 E le spighe minute tranghiottirono le sette spighe belle. Or io ho detti questi sogni a’ Magi; ma non vi è stato alcuno che me li abbia saputi dichiarare.
25 Joseph said to Pharaoh, 'Pharaoh's dreams are one and the same: God has revealed to Pharaohwhat he is going to do.	25 Allora Giuseppe disse a Faraone: Ciò che ha sognato Faraone è una stessa cosa. Iddio ha significato a Faraone ciò ch’egli è per fare.
26 The seven fine cows are seven years and the seven ripe ears of grain are seven years; it is one andthe same dream.	26 Le sette vacche belle son sette anni; e le sette spighe belle sono altresì sette anni; l’uno e l’altro sogno sono una stessa cosa.
27 The seven gaunt and lean cows coming up behind them are seven years, as are the seven shrivel edears of grain scorched by the east wind: there wil be seven years of famine.	27 Parimente, le sette vacche magre e brutte, che salivano dopo quelle, son sette anni; e le sette spighe vote, arse dal vento orientale, saranno sette anni di fame.
28 It is as I have told Pharaoh: God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is going to do.	28 Questo è quello che io ho detto a Faraone: Che Iddio ha mostrato a Faraone ciò ch’egli è per fare.
29 Seven years are coming, bringing great plenty to the whole of Egypt,	29 Ecco, vengono sette anni di grande abbondanza in tutto il paese di Egitto.
30 but seven years of famine will fol ow them, when al the plenty in Egypt wil be forgotten, and faminewil exhaust the land.	30 Poi, dopo quelli, verranno sette anni di fame; e tutta quella abbondanza sarà dimenticata nel paese di Egitto; e la fame consumerà il paese.
31 The famine that is to fol ow wil be so very severe that no one wil remember what plenty the countryused to enjoy.	31 E quell’abbondanza non si conoscerà nel paese, per cagion di quella fame che verrà appresso; perciocchè ella sarà molto aspra.
32 The reason why Pharaoh had the same dream twice is that the event is already determined by God,and God wil shortly bring it about.	32 E quant’è a ciò che il sogno è stato reiterato per due volte a Faraone, ciò è avvenuto, perchè la cosa è determinata da Dio; e Iddio l’eseguirà tosto
33 'Pharaoh should now find someone intel igent and wise to govern Egypt.	33 Ora dunque provveggasi Faraone di un uomo intendente e savio, il quale egli costituisca sopra il paese di Egitto.
34 Pharaoh should take action and appoint supervisors for the country, and impose a tax of one-fifth onEgypt during the seven years of plenty.	34 Faraone faccia questo: Ordini de’ commissari nel paese; e facciasi dare il quinto della rendita del paese di Egitto, ne’ sette anni dell’abbondanza.
35 They wil col ect al the food produced during these good years that are coming, and store the grainunder Pharaoh's authority, putting it in the towns and keeping it.	35 E adunino essi tutta la vittuaglia di questi sette buoni anni che vengono, e ammassino il grano sotto la mano di Faraone, per vittuaglia nella città; e lo conservino.
36 This food wil form a reserve for the country against the seven years of famine which are coming onEgypt, so that the country wil not be destroyed by the famine.'	36 E quella vittuaglia sarà per provvisione del paese, ne’ sette anni della fame che saranno nel paese di Egitto; e il paese non sarà distrutto per la fame.
37 Pharaoh and all his ministers approved of what he had said.	37 E la cosa piacque a Faraone e a tutti i suoi servitori.
38 Then Pharaoh asked his ministers, 'Can we find anyone else endowed with the spirit of God, likehim?'	38 E Faraone disse a’ suoi servitori: Potremmo noi trovare alcuno pari a costui, ch’è uomo in cui è lo Spirito di Dio?
39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'Since God has given you knowledge of al this, there can be no one asintelligent and wise as you.	39 E Faraone disse a Giuseppe: Poichè Iddio ti ha manifestato tutto questo, e’ non vi è alcuno intendente, nè savio, come sei tu.
40 You shall be my chancel or, and al my people shall respect your orders; only this throne shal set meabove you.'	40 Tu sarai sopra la mia casa, e tutto il mio popolo ti bacerà in bocca; io non sarò più grande di te, salvo che nel trono.
41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'I hereby make you governor of the whole of Egypt.'	41 Oltre a ciò, Faraone disse a Giuseppe: Vedi, io ti costituisco sopra tutto il paese di Egitto.
42 Pharaoh took the ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's. He dressed him in robes of fine linen andput a gold chain round his neck.	42 E Faraone si trasse il suo anello di mano, e lo mise in mano a Giuseppe, e lo fece vestir di vestimenti di bisso, e gli mise una collana d’oro al collo.
43 He made him ride in the best chariot he had after his own, and they shouted 'Abrek!' ahead of him.Thus he became governor of the whole of Egypt.	43 E lo fece salir sopra il carro della seconda persona del suo regno; e si gridava davanti a lui: Ognuno s’inginocchi; e ch’egli lo costituiva sopra tutto il paese di Egitto.
44 Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'Although I am Pharaoh, no one is to move hand or foot without yourpermission throughout Egypt.'	44 Faraone disse ancora a Giuseppe: Io son Faraone; niuno leverà il piè, nè la mano, in tutto il paese di Egitto, senza te.
45 Pharaoh named Joseph Zaphenath-Paneah, and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest ofOn, to be his wife. And Joseph began to journey al over Egypt.	45 E Faraone pose nome a Giuseppe Safenatpaanea; e gli diede per moglie Asenat, figliuola di Potifera, Governatore di On. E Giuseppe andò attorno per lo paese di Egitto
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. After leavingPharaoh's presence, Joseph travel ed throughout the length and breadth of Egypt.	46 Or Giuseppe era d’età di trent’anni, quando egli si presentò davanti a Faraone, re di Egitto. Giuseppe adunque si partì dal cospetto di Faraone, e passò per tutto il paese di Egitto.
47 During the seven years of plenty, the soil yielded generously.	47 E la terra produsse a menate, ne’ sette anni dell’abbondanza.
48 He col ected al the food of the seven years while there was an abundance in Egypt, and stored thefood in the towns, placing in each the food from the surrounding countryside.	48 E Giuseppe adunò tutta la vittuaglia di quei sette anni, che furono nel paese di Egitto, e la ripose nelle città; egli ripose in ciascuna tutta la vittuaglia del contado circonvicino.
49 Joseph gathered in grain like the sand of the sea, in such quantity that he gave up keeping count,since it was past accounting.	49 Giuseppe adunque ammassò grano in grandissima quantità, come la rena del mare; tanto che si rimase di annoverarlo; perciocchè era innumerabile.
50 Before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph: Asenath daughter of Potiphera,priest of On, bore him these.	50 Ora, avanti che venisse il primo anno della fame, nacquero a Giuseppe due figliuoli; i quali Asenat, figliuola di Potifera, Governatore di On, gli partorì.
51 Joseph named the first-born Manasseh, 'Because', he said, 'God has made me completely forget myhardships and my father's House.'	51 E Giuseppe pose nome al primogenito Manasse; perciocchè, disse egli, Iddio mi ha fatto dimenticare ogni affanno, e tutta la casa di mio padre.
52 He named the second Ephraim, 'Because', he said, 'God has made me fruitful in the country of mymisfortune.'	52 E pose nome al secondo, Efraim; perciocchè, disse egli, Iddio mi ha fatto fruttare nel paese della mia afflizione.
53 Then the seven years of plenty that there had been in Egypt came to an end,	53 Poi, finiti i sette anni dell’abbondanza che fu nel paese di Egitto;
54 and the seven years of famine set in, as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in every country,but throughout Egypt there was food.	54 cominciarono a venire i sette anni della fame, siccome Giuseppe avea detto; e vi fu fame per tutti i paesi; ma per tutto Egitto vi era del pane.
55 But when al Egypt too began to feel the famine and the people appealed to Pharaoh for food,Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, 'Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you.'	55 Alla fine tutto il paese di Egitto fu anch’esso affamato, e il popolo gridò a Faraone per del pane. E Faraone disse a tutti gli Egizj: Andate a Giuseppe, e fate ciò ch’egli vi dirà.
56 There was famine all over the world. Then Joseph opened al the granaries and rationed out grain tothe Egyptians, as the famine grew even worse in Egypt.	56 Ed essendo la fame per tutto il paese, Giuseppe aperse tutti i granai, e ne vendè agli Egizj. E la fame si aggravò nel paese di Egitto.
57 People came to Egypt from al over the world to get supplies from Joseph, for the famine had grownsevere throughout the world.	57 Da ogni paese eziandio si veniva in Egitto a Giuseppe, per comperar del grano; perciocchè la fame si era aggravata per tutta la terra
