Genesis 12

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 Yahweh said to Abram, 'Leave your country, your kindred and your father's house for a country whichI shal show you;	1 Der Herr sprach zu Abram: Zieh weg aus deinem Land, von deiner Verwandtschaft und aus deinem Vaterhaus in das Land, das ich dir zeigen werde.
2 and I shal make you a great nation, I shal bless you and make your name famous; you are to be ablessing!	2 Ich werde dich zu einem großen Volk machen, dich segnen und deinen Namen groß machen. Ein Segen sollst du sein.
3 I shal bless those who bless you, and shal curse those who curse you, and al clans on earth willbless themselves by you.'	3 Ich will segnen, die dich segnen; wer dich verwünscht, den will ich verfluchen. Durch dich sollen alle Geschlechter der Erde Segen erlangen.
4 So Abram went as Yahweh told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old whenhe left Haran.	4 Da zog Abram weg, wie der Herr ihm gesagt hatte, und mit ihm ging auch Lot. Abram war fünfundsiebzig Jahre alt, als er aus Haran fortzog.
5 Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had amassed and the people theyhad acquired in Haran. They set off for the land of Canaan, and arrived there.	5 Abram nahm seine Frau Sarai mit, seinen Neffen Lot und alle ihre Habe, die sie erworben hatten, und die Knechte und Mägde, die sie in Haran gewonnen hatten. Sie wanderten nach Kanaan aus und kamen dort an.
6 Abram passed through the country as far as the holy place at Shechem, the Oak of Moreh. TheCanaanites were in the country at the time.	6 Abram zog durch das Land bis zur Stätte von Sichem, bis zur Orakeleiche. Die Kanaaniter waren damals im Land.
7 Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, 'I shal give this country to your progeny.' And there, Abrambuilt an altar to Yahweh who had appeared to him.	7 Der Herr erschien Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen gebe ich dieses Land. Dort baute er dem Herrn, der ihm erschienen war, einen Altar.
8 From there he moved on to the mountainous district east of Bethel, where he pitched his tent, withBethel to the west and Ai to the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and invoked the name of Yahweh.	8 Von da brach er auf zum Bergland östlich von Bet-El und schlug sein Zelt so auf, dass er Bet-El im Westen und Ai im Osten hatte. Dort baute er dem Herrn einen Altar und rief den Namen des Herrn an.
9 Then Abram made his way stage by stage to the Negeb.	9 Dann zog Abram immer weiter, dem Negeb zu.
10 There was a famine in the country, and Abram went down to Egypt to stay there for a time, since thefamine in the country was severe.	10 Als über das Land eine Hungersnot kam, zog Abram nach Ägypten hinab, um dort zu bleiben; denn die Hungersnot lastete schwer auf dem Land.
11 When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, 'Look, I know you are a beautifulwoman.	11 Als er sich Ägypten näherte, sagte er zu seiner Frau Sarai: Ich weiß, du bist eine schöne Frau.
12 When the Egyptians see you they wil say, "That is his wife," and they wil kil me but leave you alive.	12 Wenn dich die Ägypter sehen, werden sie sagen: Das ist seine Frau!, und sie werden mich erschlagen, dich aber am Leben lassen.
13 Therefore please tell them you are my sister, so that they may treat me wel because of you andspare my life out of regard for you.'	13 Sag doch, du seiest meine Schwester, damit es mir deinetwegen gut geht und ich um deinetwillen am Leben bleibe.
14 When Abram arrived in Egypt the Egyptians did indeed see that the woman was very beautiful.	14 Als Abram nach Ägypten kam, sahen die Ägypter, dass die Frau sehr schön war.
15 When Pharaoh's officials saw her they sang her praises to Pharaoh and the woman was taken intoPharaoh's household.	15 Die Beamten des Pharao sahen sie und rühmten sie vor dem Pharao. Da holte man die Frau in den Palast des Pharao.
16 And Abram was very well treated because of her and received flocks, oxen, donkeys, men andwomen slaves, she-donkeys and camels.	16 Er behandelte Abram ihretwegen gut: Abram bekam Schafe und Ziegen, Rinder und Esel, Knechte und Mägde, Eselinnen und Kamele.
17 But Yahweh inflicted severe plagues on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai.	17 Als aber der Herr wegen Sarai, der Frau Abrams, den Pharao und sein Haus mit schweren Plagen schlug,
18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, 'What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell meshe was your wife?	18 ließ der Pharao Abram rufen und sagte: Was hast du mir da angetan? Warum hast du mir nicht gesagt, dass sie deine Frau ist?
19 Why did you say, "She is my sister," so that I took her to be my wife? Now, here is your wife. Takeher and go!'	19 Warum hast du behauptet, sie sei deine Schwester, sodass ich sie mir zur Frau nahm? Nun, da hast du deine Frau wieder, nimm sie und geh!
20 And Pharaoh gave his people orders about him; they sent him on his way with his wife and al hispossessions.	20 Dann ordnete der Pharao seinetwegen Leute ab, die ihn, seine Frau und alles, was ihm gehörte, fortgeleiten sollten.
