1 The Presbyter to the chosen Lady and to her children whom I love in truth--and not only I but also all who know the truth--	1 L'anziano alla signora Eletta e ai suoi figlioli, che io amo nella verità, e non io solo, ma anche tutti quelli che han conosciuto la verità,
2 because of the truth that dwells in us and will be with us forever.	2 appunto per la verità che è in noi e sarà con noi in eterno.
3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father's Son in truth and love.	3 Sia con voi la grazia, la misericordia e la pace da Dio Padre e da Cristo Gesù Figliolo del Padre, nella verità e nella carità.
4 I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth just as we were commanded by the Father.	4 Mi son molto rallegrato nell'aver trovati dei tuoi figlioli che vivono nella verità, conforme è stato ordinato dal Padre.
5 But now, Lady, I ask you, not as though I were writing a new commandment but the one we have had from the beginning: let us love one another.	5 Ed ora ti prego, o Signora, scrivendoti non d'un nuovo comandamento, ma di quello che abbiamo ricevuto fin da principio, amiamoci gli uni gli altri.
6 For this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, in which you should walk.	6 E la carità consiste in questo, nel vivere secondo i comandamenti di Dio; a il comandamento è, come udiste fin da principio, di mettere ciò in pratica.
7 Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist.	7 Or siccome sono apparsi nel mondo molti impostori i quali non confessano che Gesù Cristo sia venuto in carne — e un tale è impostore e anticristo —
8 Look to yourselves that you do not lose what we worked for but may receive a full recompense.	8 badate a voi stessi, per non perdere il frutto delle vostre fatiche e per riceverne piena ricompensa.
9 Anyone who is so "progressive" as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.	9 Chiunque si ritira e non sta saldo nella dottrina di Cristo non ha Dio; chi invece sta saldo nella dottrina, egli ha il Padre e il Figliolo.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him in your house or even greet him;	10 Se uno viene da voi e non porta questa dottrina, non lo ricevete in casa, anzi non lo salutate nemmeno;
11 for whoever greets him shares in his evil works.	11 perchè chi lo saluta partecipa alle opere di lui malvage.
12 Although I have much to write to you, I do not intend to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and to speak face to face so that our joy may be complete.	12 Avrei molte cose da scrivervi, ma non ho voluto (farlo) con carta e inchiostro, perchè spero di venir da voi e parlarvi faccia a faccia, affinchè la vostra gioia sia completa.
13 The children of your chosen sister send you greetings.	13 Ti salutano i figlioli di tua sorella Eletta.
